This museum made me fall in love with expressionist art. Love how it's all arranged in a timeline to see how Affandi grows as an artist.

Quite place. Good for anyone who love art. Extra pay if you want to take a picture with your own camera.

A gem designed and built by Affandi, an Indonesian surrealist painter - often dubbed as Indonesia's Van Gogh. His body of work spans between paintings and sculptures. Consists of 4 major galleries and a cafeteria. He himself and his first wife is buried in he complex, beside the entrance of the first building. The ticket is relatively cheap, and cameras are allowed. The complex is very noticeable from Laksda Adisucipto street.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I am a photographer myself and this place just so inspiring looking at another artists life, his works and his life pace. This is an art museum. There are paintings that considerably naked or exposing whole female body (Afansi's wife). Parental guidance is advised. The door guy knows what, so you shouldn't worry about asking everything you have in mind to him about the place.

Affandi Museum is kind a best gallery in Jogja. Lot of Affandi's artwork and his family, and also some building were designed by himself there. Funtastic!

For those who are interested in finding anti-mainstream tourism destination in Yogyakarta, this museum can be your choice. It is managed by Affandi's Family, a well-known Indonesian painters family. For foreigner the ticket costs Rp75.000. While for domestic, it costs Rp25.000. Welcome drinks and souvenirs (for foreigner) are available. There are 4 galleries you can visit. The ambience and the atmosphere of the museum are very nice. You're gonna love it.

Explore it yourself kind of museum, though if you ask, they could provide a tour guide to accompany you. The Affandi family's section is pretty awesome on its own.

most of the knowledge here is about affandi himself, so it's a good place to visit if you wanna know more about him.

I visited the museum in 2011 and 2015, and now i have the chance to visit the restaurant called Pronto Steak and Pasta. The museum is a pretty good place to explore and enhance your knowledge about art, and it offers free guide so you can understand each painting interpretations. While the restaurant has decent food that are served pretty quickly (so the guests dont have to wait long to enjoy their dish). The staffs on museum and restaurant are all helpful and nice, i love this place so much 😊

You will get the history from majestic painter from Indonesia. Nice decoration and the story behind it.
Miki Salman (11/02/2017 16:29)
You know what? I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant here served decent steak. Decent steak is very hard to find in Jogja!
.. and no, the late great Affandi does not need a review from a mortal like me.
Fidensius Prasojo (28/11/2016 01:20)
If we watch every sketch, actually the atmosphere of the place like want to tell the visitor about a historical life of Affandi
Saurav Maitra (19/10/2016 08:08)
This place, I don't have any words to explain, so many memories can be seen and feel by looking at his paintings. I will never forget this place.

I went here on Sunday and sadly it was closed. For tourist attraction maybe it should consider to open on Sunday. Ok, for now, I just can say if it waa nice building from outside.

Unique museum featuring Affandi's paintings in 3 different galleries. Designed and built by the artist with himself and his wife's grave in the garden, it is a lasting legacy of his work and life. Interesting architecture and comfortable small café to relax.
