It only costs Rp 3.000 to enter, and there are 4 sets of dioramas inside the buildings to see. It should take you one hour at most to see everything. While I was here it was crowded as there was a school having a field trip here. Certainly worth the price, especially if you want to learn about Indonesia's history since its founding in this nice colonial era fort.

Here is the place that offers you the historical stories on how indonesia reached it's independence day (freedom from colonialist). It has mainly 4 dioramics that will help you understand through its simple illustration. The place is pretty clean and comfy, you can take pictures whenever u want. The entry ticket is very affordable. Rp.10.000 only for foreign tourist. Don't hesitate to come 😉

Many cheap souvenirs here. The snack also cheap but idk abut the taste tho. A good place to chill and do nothing. I would be great it this place has special place for people that want to smoke.

The museum place was great, unique architecture. The museum part was quite enjoyable and informative. There are 3 dioramas. The first one is on the right side and the others are on the left side. The entrance ticket was not expensive, No guide which was such a pity because ancillary service like that is really needed in this place. I recommend you to visit this place before 11 am or after 3 pm since the temperature was too hot on the midday. But you can chill out in the cafe on the right side of the building. The food was great there and so comfortable.
If you are lucky, you can enjoy a festival or an event there.

It's my fourth time in Jogja, but my first time here. It's a good place for someone like me that loves historical things. I loves the view and the buildings, it's beautiful to be captured. But unfortunately I can't come in to the museum because there's an event, so I just walk around the buildings. And you know what? The entrance ticket is so cheap. Don't forget to use body lotion or sun screen, because it's so hot here 😎

This museum is awesome, a lot of historical corner that you may wanna know. A great diorama in several big rooms that may lead you travel the time when Indonesia fought for freedom. In a right side of a building, u will see a cafe, which is very cozy.. u can play a grand piano too..

Beberapa kali datang ke museum ini karena memang lokasinya ada di pusat kota dan dekat dengan pusat perbelanjaan Malioboro. Di dalam museum terdapat diorama diorama mengenai sejarah perjuangan Indonesia. Unsur unsur peninggalan Belanda pun cukup kental di museum ink, mulai dari arsitektur bangunan, design interior hingga tulisan penunjuk ruangan juga. Tapi sekarang tempat ini sangat ramai sekali, semoga tetap bisa dirawat dan dilestarikan.

Great place for family time. The museum is a great way to learn about Indonesian heroes history. Wide open area for chilling and takong pictures.

This museum is located in "kilometer nol" Jogjakarta. Previously a Dutch Fortress, it has been converted into an Independence Struggle Museum in 1992. Undergoing several major renovations & redevelopments, Vredeburg is now one of the best museum one can visit in Jogjakarta. It's arranged in the existing structures, retaining the original fort's layout. The ticket is super cheap and cameras are allowed. Accessing this place is effortless, but I suggest to access by walking - since there is only a small parking area.

It was an amazing opportunity to observe the museum. Very cheap entry ticket compare the contains inside. The histories seem to be alive with the beautiful 4 or more dioramas. It is great. Very recommended. It will be better to come with online taxi since it will be hard to find a parking slot espescially in holidays. Clean and very well looked after property. Don't leave your garbage there.

This museum is recommended for today's students since they lack knowledge of the history of Indonesia on how our ancestors sacrificed anything including their lives to be independent.
There are dioramas with different stages of history in this museum. Still, those amazed me. Nice dioramas. Even, now we can get some information on some tv screens provided among the dioramas.
The park in this museum area has beautiful views with some statues. I took some pictures with the statues beside me. Yes, it is very interesting to pose uniquely with them.
The management offers bikes for us to rent. So instead of walking around, we can save some calories by cycling while enjoying the beauty of this museum's surrounding.
Enjoy Museum Vredeburg. Enjoy Yogyakarta!

This place tells us about the historical of Indonesia. Especially Yogyakarta City. It has very nice architecture so you can take some photos.

One of the quite well-maintained Museum in the city. Need some retouch so the younger ones can enjoy.
There are so many exhibition in the site. Dioramas, historical items such paintings, clothes, armory building models, charters, and many more.

Oh I love this place!!! The museum is well desaigned.
The information given in each diorama/exhibit is thorough, there is also 2 fun games related with the history on 2 interactuve TV.
Also, there is a library bus when i visited the place.
The ticket for me (local) is only 3000 rupiahs.
I'll give you 5 stars if there is a schedule for movie playing. There is an audiovisual theater but it was closed without any information.
However, I love this place!!!!

This Dutch built fortress turned museum was providing tons of information relating to early days of Indonesia, and the struggle of our national heroes, especially in Yogyakarta and sorrounding regions. Worth a visit if you're interested in history of Indonesia.

Vredeburg castle is really awesome (because of the architecture and cleanliness). You can enjoy inside the museum (several part of the museum has air conditioned room). Suitable for families and the location is easily accessible because of located at the city center of Jogjakarta.

There are tons of information you can find in this historical yet social-media-able site. The ticket is really cheap, even for non-local visitors. For less than one dollar, you can spend at least one hour for learning the history of Indonesia's independence through abundance of diodamas. The only complaint is the hygiene of the suroundings, not in the site itself. You can always smell piss (literally) everywhere...

A historic place where you can learn more about Indonesian history in colonialism era through the realistic dioramas. The place really worth the money, the ticket price is so cheap and you can get so much knowledge. It is a must-visit-place if you come to Yogyakarta.

Visiting this place to more know about Indonesian history, especially for the memoreable moment after Indonesia become a country. The diorama help the visitors to visualize what happens at that times.

I love to be here. I can learn how struggled jogja people to against colonialist! The best story was when jogja people made Selokan Mataram. Because until now I can see it to remember how strong they were.

Nice museum about a very important period for Indonesia. The exbibition is informative through an easy to follow timeline. I couldn't help myself thinking some incidents were left out of the exhibition. But all in all a nice museum.

Historic place with information about the history of Yogyakarta and Indonesia and the struggle against the Dutch and Japanese. Some panels are not in English but in Indonesian.

A museum containing a lot of historical information around Indonesia's Independence, especially in Yogyakarta.
A cheap entry fee. It's clean. There's a café inside the Museum with european ambience. It's a good museum 👍🏽

Modern history of Indonesia told through dioramas with an emphasis on events in Yogyakarta, in the historical setting of a fort built by the Dutch to keep tabs on local rulers. Houses a serene and grand cafe in one of the colonial buildings if you need to retreat from Malioboro St (or as we did shelter from heavy rain).

One of the best museum in Yogyakarta. Offcourse number one is Ulen senthalu. This museum have a great local event. But still lack of maintenance inside the museum. You can do better vredeburg.

Nice place with average museum. You'll find the miniaturs of whole history of Jogjakarta. The old buildings at it, are very cool. It's located on Malioboro Street.
