The right place to learn mix-culture of Peranakan (Chinese - Indonesian) with lots of insight stories and beautiful collections. Not to mention the "secret" to open the main door at the upper floor

This museum can be reached by 5 minute walk from Tangerang station. Klenteng Boen Tek Bio is not far from here. This is an impressive old tiong hoa peranakan house. Most of the building parts are still authentic. Formerly a private house then museum. Ticket price is IDR 25.000 per person, this include a guide service whom explained the whole thing inside the museum. They have vast collection of antique goods related to history of tionghoa peranakan in Indonesia (and Batavia for the exact), but taken photo is not allowed inside this museum.

A rare collection of Chinese heritage in Tangerang, close to Pasar Lama, worth a visit if you are in Tangerang.

This is definitely must-go place if you visit Tangerang. The house has very good collection of old Chinese stuff, and the guide from the museum staff gives very clear and alive introduction to the history of the house and the surroundings. It is worthy of time and money.

A nice place to learn about chinese inculturatons in Indonesia. About the cultures and also the Chinese role in our declarations of independence.
We also meet the founder, Pak Udaya, a warm hearted, kind, and insightful person.

It's heartening to know somebody still care about the chinese benteng heritage in tanggerang. The guided tour last for about 90minutes, entry fee is 25k. No photograph allowed, unfortunately, the museum is situated in the middle of a dirty, wet traditional pasar. IMHO it's worth paying a visit if U R interested in "CinBeng" heritage,
mawar astari (06/05/2017 10:00)
The guide is good in story telling. Unfortunately the location is in dirty location because is in traditional market area
Debby Atmadja (18/03/2017 12:39)
Old preserve traditional house located in the middle of traditional market. Good place to get the knowledge of history back in early 19th century.

Salah satu museum favorit. Bangunan lama gaya cina yang dibuat menjadi museum. Lokasinya yang ditengah pasar basah saat pagi hari akan menyusahkan untuk ditemui

This is really authentic museum. The tour takes about 45 to 60 minutes. The place not so big but the collection was nice and amazing. The masterpiece collection also nice. But in this museum not allowed for camera. If wanna know more and learn more about Chinese people history in Indonesia, this place is recommended.
Hildegardis Sekar (03/10/2016 05:39)
A museum that offers you an old chinese architecture from an old era. They have tourist guides to tell you old stories and history of the place. Don't forget to buy Kecap Benteng when you get there, a traditional made sweet soy sauce to make a perfect nasi goreng or babi kecap.
Rudy Sujanto (31/07/2016 07:35)
An unlikely museum that is located smack-dab in the center of a traditional market in Tangerang old quarters.
This against-all-odds project was conceived by the founder, Udaya Halim, to preserve the memory and tell the story of the much-maligned Benteng Chinese and the Chinese-Indonesian community in general.
The collection spreads into two floors of a renovated 18th-century Chinese house. No photography is allowed except on the foyer and its adjoining room. Guided tours start hourly from 10 AM.
Wear something comfy if you visit in the morning because you have to run a gauntlet of market vendors to reach the place--but visit it you must!
