As an Asian who cooks a bit, this farm is not offering much for me to learn. For me they teach very basic stuff and things I already know. But I like the location and their farm produce. Temperature is very cool and pleasant here.

I hope they will reduce the use of plastic ware used in the food preparation process (such as oil container, basket) and also don't use plastic straw in the future.

"Pemulan Balinese Farm Cooking School" (truely a 5-Star Experience)
We attended this farm cooking school in March '18 during our 10-day second honeymoon Bali experience and what an amazing experience this place turned out to be! Our small and intimate International group of ‘happy campers’ also made the experience fun together with our young cooking school Instructors. The staff were all very, very friendly, very polite and oh so funny!

We were picked up at the Padma Resort and first driven to the local market, where we met up with our young cooking Instructor. His knowledge about the Balinese cuisine and produce impressed upon us the fresh ingredients that we were actually going to be using for our classes. We were then driven to their organic farm (cooking school) further North up into the jungle. Our team were given a short tour of the organic farm where along the way we collected our own leaves and other ingredients that we were then to use in the cooking of our own creations.

We were greatly impressed with the fun communication style by most of the English-speaking staff of which was obviously essential in order for us to comprehend what was expected of us in the cooking process. Jenny really was in her element & I have never before seen her smile for 4-hours straight!

We all mixed in together and collectively cooked in an open kitchen with a full view of the lush tropical gardens and surrounds. The traditional Balinese dishes we prepared were not your typical dishes that you might order at any Balinese restaurant, which was also exciting to try something new. They were all delicious as we all shared our creations at the mid-way point and also at the end of each session.

OUR 10-STAR HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS EXPERIENCE:
* This was one of our favourite experiences this time in Bali & we would def’ do it again!
* Absolutely beautiful location & the most relaxing and yet fun atmosphere.
* The group is involved in harvesting the vegetables from their ‘green’ garden, everything we picked from the garden, we used in the cooking experience (nothing is wasted).
* The training process was made simple & was a very fun & satisfying experience with everything being so delicious to eat & share.
* The staff were all very kind & patiently answered all of our questions and they skilfully explained the context of all the ingredients we added into each meal.
* The staff also kept it very light-hearted & humorous in a really natural way adding relevant & very funny quips (like the ‘Magic Mushrooms’ joke) LOL!
* They have a very dedicated & passionate team of young men (& some not-so-young assistants).
* Amazing community organized organic farm & cooking school. Very professional and the dishes are delicious! Definitely one of the highlights of our Bali trip.
* We also love the community development work that they do with supporting the local kids & teachings them English. Well done!
* We got given our aprons & the cookbooks as souvenirs.

Thanks also to Wayan Diarsa (in Taro) for highly recommending this school. We would definitely recommend this place to anybody wanting an ‘adventurous’ traditional Balinese cooking experience, which is something unique and away from the hustle-and-bustle of the general touristy areas. Get out into the jungle! by Jenny & Andrew

We loved our vegan balinese cooking class. Everything we did was amazing and tasteful. Our trainer was very experienced, he explained everything, answered every question. Very nice and kind staff. 100% recommended, of you're vegan you won't be disappointed.

Amazing experience. Small group size(8) people made the experience so laid back and casual. The instructor and staff were all very friendly and polite.
But the best part was the amazing location!
You’ll be cooking in an open kitchen with a view of the lush gardens and crops that you get to use in your traditional Balinese dishes. The food we prepared was not typical dishes we would order at restaurants but it was delicious.
Would definitely recommend to anybody wanting to experience something unique away from the hustle bustle of the tourist areas.

Absolutely incredible experience. I was first worried about the cost, but it is truly worth it. All food is locally sourced, and most you collect yourself.

All staff were very friendly and the facilities were tidy. The farmer that took us on our tour was extremely helpful and very fun to converse with. The food was pretty easy to cook, but so bloody tasty.

Really was an awesome experience. Would recommend anyone to cook here, it supports the local farmers and you get to learn as well as make some delicious food.

Absolutely my favorite experience in Bali. Great communication with the staff, hotel pickup which was essential. Beautiful location and the most relaxing atmosphere, especially compared to the chaos of Ubud. Everything we picked from the garden we cooked and everything was so delicious it really was a satisfying experience. The guide was great, kind and patiently answered all of our questions and explained the context of the ingredients and the dishes we would prepare. He also really kept it lighthearted and humorous in a really natural way adding relevant anecdotes. Highly recommended!

These people are so friendly and professional. From the moment you get off the bus at the market to the moment you leave with a full stomach you feel very well cared for and respected.

We highly recommend this cooking school because it's an authentic adventure: in the morning, we went to a local market, at the organic farm, the cook told us a lot about the plants and how to use them in the indonisian kitchen. In total, we cooked 6 dishes of delicious indonesian food and got a little book with all the recipes! The kitchen is very well equiped and clean, the cooks, drivers and staff are very funny and friendly! One of our best experiences on Bali! Trimakasi! :)

The highlight of our stay in Ubud 🤙🏽. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the local market. There we met up with our cooking teacher, Made. He is very knowledgeable about the Balinese cuisine and proceeded to show and explain to us the ingredients we were going to use for the lessons. We also could try some local fruits and treats. We were then driven to an organic farm far away from the noisy and busy streets. Made gave us a tour of the farm and we had to collect our own ingredients. After a nice welcome drink we started with the cooking. We were 5 participants in total and it was just perfect. Made was very funny and we had the most wonderful time preparing and cooking 5 main courses and a dessert. The staff were just wonderful, they made sure we had everything we needed. The meals we cooked were delicious and full of flavours. Pemulan has a dedicated and very passionate team. We would do it again anytime. We highly recommend it, we could take our aprons and cookbooks as souvenirs. Thank you Charles and Tiffany for telling us about this place 😉🤘🏽.

A truly amazing experience! We were just four people at the cooking class so it was very personal. Our teacher spoke very good English, could answer all our questions and we had a lot of fun with him. Our class started at a local market, where he explained us some ingredients we were going to use later. We also could try some balinese fruits and sweets. After that we drove to the beautiful farm and picked some of the ingredients fresh from the garden. I did the vegetarian meal and my friend the normal one, so each of us cooked seperately with the help of our teacher and his assistants. Each of us cooked 5 meals and dessert so it was far too much to finish it but we could take the leftovers with us. We also got a cookbook and a apron. After we finished the delicious food our driver took us back to our guesthouse but stopped on the way at a coffee plantation where we could try a lot of different tee and coffee varieties, while enjoying a stunning view. I can't recommend it enough so convince yourself! :)

One of the most amazing cooking experiences, and general experiences in Bali. If you have the time to commit a half day and are willing to get an early start, highly recommend taking this cooking class.

You visit a local market and then proceed to pick your own veggies from the farm. Totally a hands on experience- if you're traveling solo or with a group, you'll have a good time no matter what. The instructors/owners are some of the nicest people we encountered in Bali and also make the class more fun than it already is.

You also get to keep your apron and all the recipes you cook that day- nice mementos from your trip!

I visited Pemulan Bali in November for the first time and fell in love with this place. The people are amazing, the farm is peaceful and the cooking class excellent. You make a variety of dishes and you use some of the herbs, vegetables from the organic farm. In January I came back to Bali and visited the farm for a longer time. A real local experience, home stay @ Balinese family in the small village. The treated me like family and taught me heaps about organic farming and permaculture. Really recommended. Thanks to my Pemulan family!! :)

A great cooking place in the green Organic farm. Very fresh ingredients and simple Balinese cooking method. We were involved in harvesting the vegetables from their garden and indulge in hands on cooking. Although it's just started but everyone their know what their doing and I was impressed with the hospitality and friendliness. A great experience to try to cook real Balinese food. Keep up a great job! Balinese Farm Cooking School is recommended!
