Sumba Nautil is by far the best place to stay in the area unless you want to spend $1,000 or more at Nihiwatu. The rooms are clean and nicely done, we usually stay in the deluxe room for $200 AU which includes breakfast. Nice home baked break, eggs, fruit and coffee or tea. The dinner menu is a choice of 3 options and is three courses and will cost you $20,000 AU. they also have an a la cart menu whihc has some nice options. It's an amazing part of the island and well worth visiting. The locals seem friendly and there are some stunning local beaches which are well worth visiting. It also has a number of good breaks close by, some of which are hard to access without a boat and are empty most days. You can hire a motor bike from Nautil, although it cost you $15 AU for a day and is very old. You can also hire a driver for the day which isn't cheap either, but any transport in Sumba is expensive compared to other islands. Marosi Beach has a number of waves depending on the conditions, also just up the coast is pinnacles and the back around the headland from Marosi is Kerewe'e, which on a good day goes for 700meters. then across the bay is Occy's left, the break out the front of Nihiwatu. Some locals may get you on the wave, but if not youll need to pay $100 US per day and stay at the resort. Book in advance as it can get fully booked. The web booking process has been very hit and miss, so you may need to be persistent.
