I personally didn't go to Mount Agung as the trek is closed because it is predicted to be erupted in near future.
I saw the view of the great Mount Agung from an inactive volcanic mountain Mount Batur. And I tell you view was breathtaking.

I climbed Mt. Agung on 1st August, 2017 with one of my buddies. We chose not to hire a guide and attempt it ourselves. The local guides didn’t take this decision too well. I understand that it’s their livelihood, however, it’s also not right to be “forced” to hire a guide. We used the route from Pura Pasar Agung. It is a tough hike. So beginners please be careful. The final part near the summit is particularly difficult because of the exposed rock faces (need to use hands), in addition to the strong winds. It can get quite cold up there so bring more layers. Having the correct clothing is critical. Normally, it’s already cold up there. When it rains, it’s freezing. A headlamp is indispensable because it frees up your hands; you’d definitely need to use your hands sometimes. Otherwise, reaching the top is really satisfying and be thankful for it. It is a difficult hike, and after thinking about it, unless you know what you are doing, it’s still better to think about hiring a guide. Two months ago there was no volcanic activity and I’m grateful to be able to experience Mt. Agung. Take care everyone!

We went to Mount Agung for white water rafting. The experience wasn't that good because most of the time the guide of the raft controls the raft and you don't get to control it often. Even the ride was not that bumpy. At the time we went there, warnings have been given to stay away from the volcano. All in all it was a nice experience. Balinese people are always nice and treat you well.

Quiet an experience for me as a first time visiting Volcanic Area. Although it's active as we see smoke coming out of it all time but yet friendly, as found out from localities, no serious damage to life or property.
As well 7 kms apart at the Hot Springs along the Lake is just superb.
. Indeed it's worth a visit once you are on Bali Island . It's a full day relaxed trip.

The view of the volcano is splendid. This place is a nice combination of green and high landscape. Near the volcano, there are luxurious open air restaurants, with amazing views of the volcano. The food and beverages at the restaurants are extremely tasty. Despite this there is a nominal entry fee to the main view point, which isn't expensive at all for visiting tourist. In addition to that, Mount Agung has recently erupted, so you must need to check the inquiry before visiting. Overall, Mount Agung is a very spectacular place to visit, and I recommend this destination to all tourist in Bali.
