Tourist attraction with colonial building as main attraction. The building used to be a train office administration or something rather. But make sure you take a tour guide to help you having all the information since there is no information at all.

But, Lawang Sewu jadikan tempat wajib dikunjungi kalau lagi ke Semarang. 👍

such a great building with great views. the building is unique and beautiful. the pattern that's made from the vertical lines of the window, door, and wall blend perfectly in the right proportion. the symmetry that's shown in every component looks really good. the miniatur of train and all the old photographs are cool, great things are shown inside this building to help us remember our nation's history. the ticket is also cheap and affordable.

Lawang Sewu make me want take a photos. Because this building had a pretty space and room. Learning too here, from history, figure, the building, the kind of material of Lawang Sewu, the part of each room here. You just not take photos here, let you accept more knowledge from this historic building. I like this destination from Semarang.

because this buiding had much of doors
also windows with big size, that's make the Windows like same with the doors.
One of main tourism destination in this town.
The place located at downtown,
Strategic location, but the traffic

It’s a historical place, one of the most visited places in Semarang. People are attracted by its spookiness. It’s also a nice spot to take pictures. However it can be too overly crowded during holidays and it’s really difficult to park here. There’s no special designated area for parking. It’s also located in one of the most crowded road in Semarang.

Kenapa? Soalnya lampu lampu warna oranyenya romantis banget ❤

A Dutch historical building which used to house the railway company. The building used to be in quite a dilapidated state. The local government decided to renovate the building and turn it into a landmark. The outside and inside of the building look great. If you visit make certain to see the stained glass window in the central hall. The attic of the main building is also worth a visit if you want to see a big group of bats. The central courtyard is used for entertaining the kids with games and replicas of the old trains. The building is quite hot as it is impossible to keep cool. Be aware that around the entrance and exit are crowded with street hawkers and beggars.

Old but gold building. I'm in love with the architecture and design of this place. There are lots of space to explore, but some of them are restricted because of idk thing. One of the most iconic place in Semarang. I definitely want to comeback in here once again.
Elisa Indrawati (16/02/2018 10:18)
Since the last few years, its function changed for tourist attraction. There are guide that can guide you strolling around building as well as telling stories about the history of the building. The building is well maintained and clean. Mostly nowadays tourist come here to take photos since there are some photo spot that are instagrammable especially the symmetrical doors (like its name Lawang Sewu means Thousand Doors).
Vlad Vekshin (20/11/2017 09:08)
Interesting bit of history. While the building certainly retains some of the creepy and eerie vibes, the government is trying to minimise this view of the attraction. There are many empty rooms, but there's enough to see here to warrant a visit.
Barto Jorang (18/11/2017 08:27)
A historic place which was used as Colonial Train Service Headquarter. The place is clean, the atmosphere is far from spooky. A lot of doors make inside room cooler than outside. A number of room is left empty due to limited items to show.
Teguh Suandi (29/09/2017 11:23)
It's one of the most famous landmark in Semarang. The total is not actually a thousand doors.
Some area can't be explored due to some reason, but there's a stairs to the big hall where you can find a lot of bats.
Yogi Ario Setiawan (08/09/2017 20:47)
One of the famous landmark in Indonesia. It has so many doors there, that's why they called it 'Lawang Sewu', it means 'Thousand Doors'. Beside of it, this place has a historical story about colonialism era. It used to be an Netherland office. But when Japan had a power, Japan occupied it.
And then for some reason, they leave it.
Now that building became one of the famous landmark in Semarang.
And i tell you, it is haunted.

Historical place... U can learn about the history about train in Java island in this place, actually this place is a train museum... The building itself was built in colonial era with European architecture... When I visited this place, there will be a wedding reception at the garden... Apparently the locals use this place as wedding venue too... Interesting... :)
Esa Dicky (18/08/2017 02:06)
Good place to visit. But the underground passage are closed lately due to a renovation. There's also a group of artist playing traditional music. Enjoy the culture of East Java around this area. Dont forget to bring your camera!
Dennis Pinpin (17/08/2017 10:13)
Alright, you want a hair-raising tour, this is the place in Semarang to visit. It's a spooky old building with an inordinately great number of doors leading to particularly nowhere. Now it isn't so bad when you're poking around the place during the day, but things get different when the sun's beginning to set. Your imagination? Maybe. But you go ahead and try it. See how brave you are.
al satyr (03/07/2017 08:40)
Historical place, now functioned as National Locomotive Corporation's museum. There were also night tour which will give you eerie situation. Known as Local Horror Excursion
Febrian Ryendrayana (24/06/2017 08:04)
Cool places, but less lighting in some spot. That makes this place has mystical atmosphere. I felt it several times unless you don't know the history of that place
Marcellino Tatang (10/06/2017 01:36)
Beautiful piece of history. The guide can take u places you can otherwise not go. Certainly recommended for local or international tourists.
Eneas (28/05/2017 14:35)
The iconic and historic building of Semarang. Old western style building is nice to enjoy. Also we can enjoy the experience of horror tour in the building. Just find the horror tour guide around if you dare to do it. Unfortunately this building is still less maintained when i came here.
Lies Permana (21/05/2017 07:42)
Mystical atmosphere immediately felt once we entered the most famous building in Semarang. Located in the middle of Semarang city. You have to go there at night to feel more. If you dare you can get into the famous basement there is a waiter. There are many tourist guides ready to accompany the tour into the historic building. No tariffs are determined, just a little. They will tell in detail about the thousand-door building. And I shuddered!
Angelica Chrestella (01/05/2017 03:28)
A good place to learn about the historical things. They provided local guides that you can ask about anything. A famous mystical experience story was my favorite part. Take a look, listen to you surrounding and you will know better.
Jessu Okriandinata (22/04/2017 10:52)
This is a historical building and as a landmark of Semarang City. The building has been renovated so that it becomes a beautiful look and "instagramable". However, the parking lot that must be considered and improved. So that, visitors by a car and motorcycle can park safely.
Khairul Anwar (18/04/2017 16:56)
Perfect picture of a glorious past and to see the gorgeous design from Netherland. The underground spot is now closed, it used to be a part of the heritage tour too actually. Lucky to those who have seen it in person
Very historic. Famous for its historical buildings and functions during those days. Very crowded nowadays. Their tunnel underground is closed now. Last time, you could go in and unravel the dark tunnel with torchlights.
Imanuel Harkespan (18/03/2017 18:27)
Nice building. It's a Dutch legacy. Very exotic. This place can teach you about history of Indonesian train.
sagara tirta (12/02/2017 11:31)
Brand new paint make it looks awesome again. It used to be spooky but not anymore
Gunawan Santoso (24/01/2017 04:54)
One of tourist attractions in Semarang. It's a big colonial building with so many doors. A good place to take photos, but make sure you come during weekday. It's a lot of crowd especially during the holiday.
Gusti Agung (20/01/2017 09:35)
It's amazing how this historical building once known as the spookiest place in semarang turned into one of the best tourism spots. This place is neat, the plants are well taken care of, and the toilets are surprisingly clean!! Great place
Freddy Samad (22/11/2016 08:18)
The old past grandeur of the forgotten golden era of railway, this "Grand Central" of Semarang is the first in Indonesia and was the most important hub for the dutch.
Now converted to museum, it retains the romance of the long gone era.
Recommend to take picture of its exterior at night time.
Rio Rinaldo (18/11/2016 07:10)
Come here before dusk and stay until it's dark. You'd get to view this beautiful building that derives its name from its 900 something doors from the the day light, the blue hour, and at night when all the lights are on. Make sure to venture the place with a guide, you'd only have to pay 40K IDR and you get to hear creepy ghost stories. The stained glass is the most beautiful part of the building.

Tempat bersejarah peninggalan belanda..menurut saya keren karna klasik tempatnya. Untuk mistisnya tidak terlalu
septie yan (22/08/2016 03:31)
