Coming here wasn't on my plan but a becak driver offered me a tour around and that included this museum. I can feel the mystical ambience in this place with just small space for a museum if I may say. The collection here are carriages used by the royal family of Yogyakarta. An old man- a staff here- tells stories of each carriages with all the superstitious stuff. If you do come here please spare some tip for these old men, they've been there for years and seems doesn't get paid well. But the stories they told is really worthwile.

This museum houses a complete collection of horse carriages dates back from as early as 19th Century... These carriages used by the Royal Family on various occasions from Royal Marriages to Funeral... It's recommended to hire a guide who can explain any info about each carriage n its history...

Small museum, specialized in royal family carriages. There are 27 type of carriages which is pulled by 2 to 8 horses, depending on how high the position on the royal family hierarchy. Not enough lighting, make it feels unwelcoming atmosphere, but fortunately most of the carriages are so beautiful and breathtaking, and all the carriages are still used in certain occasion. The ticket and taking picture permit are cheap. Better come to this place early in the morning, and at weekdays

It is the place to. The entrance fee is cheap and you can pay a cheap fee to have a permission to take a photo. Here, you can see the collection of carriage of Kraton Ngayogyakarta and see the details of the carriages. The people (also being the guard of this museum) here are the Abdi Dalem of Kraton Ngayogyakarta. We can learn how to live in peace from the people even they don't have many. The parking lots is quite big.

Its dark and slightly dusty here.
Not really museum for cars but carriages of the past used by royalties.
The artefacts are dusty and very minimum staff run this museum.
