Fun tracking around mangrove area surrounded by groups of monkeys who will snatch your glasses, hats for a bag of peanuts ransom😅😂

Please wear comfortable footwear since it is quite slippery.

There are guides to shoo the monkeys away, but please make sure that the guide is in charge of your group otherwise there are more people to follow and become the guides as well which means you have to pay extra for them too

Not really enjoyable.
Hygiene is definitely not priority.
The monkeys are almost domesticated, they expect you to give em some peanuts. Ha

The place is an island, contructed by roots of tree combined. Locals made road by using cement block alligned, just follow it, and you''ll go round the island. Expect seeing monkeys all the way from the start.

Oh, for local, we gotta pay Rp 5000 in usuall day, and 7500 in holiday.

Short walk through the rainforest full of monkeys, be careful with food and loose items. Good fun!

Its an island full of monkeys. Be careful if you bring some food for monkey, because its a little bit scary and some monkey may bite you. The monkeys are always hungry because they depend on tourist's food. There are a lot of mosquitos here. Be careful always

One of the tourist attraction in Banjarmasin area. It is a place with monkeys, nothing else to see. Need to ride a boat (30 minutes) from Banjarmasin (pasar terapung near Sabilal Mosque). Price of the boats are around Rp. 25K/person, but need to have 14 persons. Can book a boat for Rp. 300K, can be negotiated (my experience on 1 Sep 2017: book a boat for Rp. 200K). Boat will take you to Kembang Island, wait for you on the jetty, and take you back to departure jetty.

There will be some locals (10 persons during my visit) on the island that sell peanut for feeding the monkeys (Rp 20K for 4 big packs). They will escort you to walk around the pavement road (Gave them 20K for main ladies, 10K for childrens).

note : better prepare uang receh (5K or 10K before your trip)

The island is a habitat for monkeys. Unfortunately people who visit this place often feed the monkeys with peanuts but letting. So many plastic rubbish.

Across Barito River, find your treasure here.

This island is beautiful. Monkeys are set free in the island. Visitors can walk around path in the island and see monkeys on trees. It is a much better way to get to know monkeys in their habitat. Monkeys here are also known as Bekantan, a typical species of monkey from South Borneo. Please do not disturb their lives, be kind to monkeys and give them proper food if you can (such as beans, bananas, that are sold by local Banjar people. It also would help local Banjar people to survive their lives). You need to pay entrance fee, but it is worth. You can reach the island from Banjarmasin city (near Menara Pandang or Pandang Tower), hire a Kelotok there (Banjar traditional motor boat). You also can hire a boat from Sultan Adam Mosque. Another alternative is from Banjar regency (but this is less popular place). Please support the tourism in any way you can.
