Beware! Bike-Scam! Not respectful just $$$...
I dont want to give a bad review but I want to warn my travel mates! I stayed at this place and had to leave this beautiful Island without to seen it really well....
I rented a bike and wanted to do a trip to some places. On the way back my bike broke down( engine /ignition) and I stucked in the middle in nowhere. My Phone was run out Power (classic scene) and I've looked for help. After a few hours I've found someone who tried to fix it.
But after they started to ask a lot of money and I guy with a gun appeared, I left asap. Just because I had sometimes connection I cloud reach a friend and she reached the owner. After 3 hours I talked with her and explain everything.
!!!The first point that she meantion was, that WE PAY everything (didnt ask about our health condition and if I am ok)!!! I mean come on....
A long Story started and we ask for help and a pickup because it was their bike and we had just a few days. They refuse as well!!! I was lucky that a local invited me to stay at his home, it was a farm but better than to sleep on the street. We found of course after some hours another garage.
The meachnic had a long talk with the owner about the motorbike and that the bike cause the problem. The owner also lie to us and said its not possible because the bike is just 2 months old.....everybody had a nice laugh when I told them that it's "2 months" old. They show me how it look inside and we saw that the bike was allready open a few time...
On the next morning, the owner ask me to stay there for another night till they fix it! I was very angry how that guys treating their guests. Therefore we left the bike, paid the locals, Service, Taxi (which was a rip-off, of course....) and needed to pay another night at shady palm, which make us really freakin mad.
So summit it up:
we paid around 50$ for a full day of stress. I am very upset how I was treaten, because you can feel that you the white guy who will pay allways for everything. On the other side I am thankful for the friendly locals that I 've met (they never asked for money! Lovley people).They are at the same spot other good places to stay, especially if you are doing surfing.
(Hash Guesthouse, Yomen etc etc)
