Lopez is the owner and a great guy and cook and guide and story teller in 1. He knows the area very well and his family has lived in this area for a long time. He can tell you anything about the lakes and what they mean to the local people. It's basic but clean and the food is superb! You can arrange a pickup from the main road its about 5 min by car.

Clean, basic and comfortable rooms in a bamboo bungalow. The young owner designed and built it with his own hands; beautiful! Cute "geck-o!" chirping at night :) Optional cooking together in the traditional kitchen (recommended!). Delicious local coffee and breakfast. We got very useful tips for our further travel through Flores.

We loved this place. Super friendly owner and family!
Reading the last review, I can confirm they now got mosquito net and the outside bathroom and shower is super cool, full of plants.
We cooked and ate some food together and had a good sleep. Good breakfast in the morning with fresh fruit and great coffee.

Great place. Was recomeded by another backpacker we met. So we showed up without booking. Unfortunately the place was full.. but lopez let us sleep in his own bedroom for the first night and a room was available 2nd night! Highly recommend you book or you may miss out. There are 4 very nice and simple bamboo rooms at the moment. 2 rooms can be.booked on airb&b and the other 2 are not so you can give him a ring and see if they are available. He is a great guy and his English is perfect. We all helped Lopez and his sister cook on the first night which was great. He is a really good cook and puts a lot of time and effort into food. The next night we all got in the back of a truck and went to the hot spring to relax with beers. Perfect. Gekos is a great base if you plan to walk up and down kelemutu (about hours each way) or you can ask Lopez to help with transport/bike rental he will get you a fair price and will not rip you off unlike some other homestays. Breakfast is included with stay, but evening meal costs extra (very cheap and very good)

Lรณpez Is one of the greatest people I've met. He really makes the place. He cooked us delicious food. Helped us with directions up Kelimutu and took us to a hot spring after. The place was clean and comfortable with a shared bathroom.

I arrived after dark unannounced. And I was met warmly by Lopez who immediately offered me to cook with his family. Place is clean and feel like a little Jamaica retreat. Warmly recommended.

Loved this simple and peaceful homestay. We showed up unannounced and were happy to be able to stay for two nights. Felt part of the family while we were sitting in the kitchen watching the amazing food being prepared. Bathroom was super cool, too.

We showed up unannounced in this friendly village, and the owner was away, but we were able to get a clean room for a night anyway. Expect the absolute basics, a private room with mattress on the floor, no fan and no mosquito nets. The outdoor, rustic bathroom was clean, and we had no problems (low expectations). The biggest upshot to this location is price point (100k or $7.50USD) and the wonderful welcome from the villagers. You can and will make friends here. Definitely, check it out if you're on a budget in Moni.
