I’ve given 5 stars because for the value the room is very good and clean, Cornelius and family were very helpful and let us have a motorbike without charge for the day and taught us to drive it! The pancakes were sensationally good, as is the view over Bajo.
Really enjoyed our stay at Palulu. Only recommendation would be to offer water bottle refills.

NOT recommended for single traveling women!!!
the house is nice and the view over the harbour is beautiful.
the owner Kornelis is nice, but he got touchy and offering 'having fun' altough he could be my granddad. really disgusting!
would not stay there again! be careful, ladies.

If you're looking for an authentic stay at a local's, this place is lovely. They were very welcoming and made us delicious banana pancakes and coffee every morning. We stayed in a separate building from the family, a large room with a few single beds and one double bed. There were room dividers set up between the beds to give a modicum of privacy, and a large fan and mosquito net (which did hamper the effectiveness of the fan) above the double bed ($150,000 Indonesian Rupiah/Night). The washroom was in a separate building, a short walk away. The entire place has a beautiful view of the ocean as it's built high up on a hill overlooking the buildings on the shoreline, really beautiful. (Photo is the view from breakfast at the homestay).

The Air conditionned bedroom is pretty good. Others need improvements

I just have a look on the room in downstairs. It smell humidity. It can be ok but they ask them 200k or 250k. Crazy. We find an other place with good view and nice room for this price.
The view is not very good and i do not like the atmosphere there.
If the price was less expensive it will be ok.

Palulu Garden Homestay provides budget travelers with the most affordable stay in town without going down the street to the tented hostel. Located directly across the street from Villa Seirama Alam, it is within walking distance of the main street, restaurants, a coffee house, and the majority of dive operators. Best, the owner Cornelius works diligently to provide the best service at an affordable cost to guests. All you need to do is give him a call, and he'll have a room waiting.
My friend and I stayed a couple of nights in October before doing a trans-flores scooter ride returning to Labuan Bajo for another few night's stay. We stayed in a dorm-style room the first couple of nights, which were located very near the family bedroom and kitchen. When we returned, we took a private double, which provided us with more privacy and a quieter night's sleep.
While staying at Palulu, travelers should expect to be treated to a very local experience, especially if staying in the budget dorm rooms. These rooms have access to a shared bathroom, which although it has a Western toilet, could be a bit cleaner. The private rooms have their own bathrooms, and ours was quite a bit cleaner. We also had a sink that we washed clothes in and a clothes line nearby that we used, allowing us to save money and effort in finding laundry service.
Breakfast is included at Palulu, and every morning, without fail, we were treated to a single (albeit large) banana pancake and Indonesian-style kopi coffee or tea. Water is available to refill containers for small cost. The view at the table out over the harbor of Labuan Bajo gives the location a magical air, especially when listening to the muezzin (Islamic call to prayer) at sunset.
Cornelius himself is a congenial character, and his good nature is quite evident. On our visit, he was very busy, but he still found time to provide us with extra services (renting us a scooter, providing directions and suggestions for places to visit and things to do on Flores). It's evident that the money earned through these services go a long way to care for his family. It feels good to support his business when in Labuan Bajo. I will definitely give him a call next time I'm in town.
