Good food, good place, and friendly staff, it's the best warung in the island.

Fish was fresh. They brought for us crisps as stater. When we ate half of bowl, a cockroach appeared from under remaining crisps. At this moment the dinner was spoiled!

Very friendly staff, love the food. Recommend goiing of the main strip to have a nice lunch or diner here.

looks little bit more fancy than others, but nothing special, just ok. Nasi Campur tastes good though. - end of march, 2016

We were there around 9 pm, it was pretty quiet. The friendly staff welcomed us. Unlike other restaurants, the idea is to put together your own dish. Out of a selection of around 15 options you can choose whatever you like.
I had chicken, brown rice, spinach and tempe. Some ingredients were above average, but altogether it didn't stand out. A meal carefully cooked and serviced by a cook is more than the sum of its parts.
Still nice to try it out for a change, but be careful and stick to 3 or max 4 choices.

it seems like most people giving a bad rating to this place don't know anything about Indonesian Padang food. all Padang restaurants serve room temperature food on top of hot rice, unless you're in when some dishes just got out the kitchen. that said, this place is authentic, and serves very good, tasty, but expensive food. servings are more generous than in most Padang warungs I must say too. their red sambal is very nice, mild and sweet. can choose between red or white rice. even if expensive, quality will make me be back when in Gili Air

Great local spot. Does as it says on the tin! Authentic Sumatran food with no frills.

This is an authentic Indonesian Sumatran restaurant.
As good as any on the island and probably further a field. If you want burgers and jaffles go home.

"Local" food but at "tourist spicy level". They offer 2 sambal souces for spicy lovers though. Good prices.

Cheap, tasty food. Dont mistake this as a buffet (although the food is on display) as some idiots on the reviews. They serve you and are generous. Must try their sambols.

Take all the 4-5 star comments and follow them, i have nothing to add :) Food was extremely tasty. A lot better than the cheaper 'mainland' padangs. Very easy to choose, because instructions and prices are written out and displayed! When on Gili Air deffinitely go have a meal there instead of the dozens 'italian' or even italian pizza places. Support locals ;)

Delicious!!! authentic, very tasty and freshly cooked food. like tapas, but indonesian
Jef Tistaert (06/03/2017 00:00)
Choose your food out of the glass display and eat away! There are three kinds of sambal. One for beginners, one normal and one for the brave.

Keep on walking!
The host is very nice but explains very little. You can scoop the food like a buffet but if you just get a tiny bit you pay full price. Also when you go a second round, even when you discussed if it was OK. The carrot juice is extremely watered-down and the avocado juice has some weird chocolate syrup in it. Next to that I got a huge food poisoning from it, it was the only place I ate that day just some bad luck.
Nice concept but other places are cheaper and more tastier on the island.

It's rather average. They have buffet but NOT all you can eat so don't be deceived. Brown rice 20.000 and white at 20.000 idr and juices over 20.000 seemed overpriced. We ate there to wait for the rain to pass and we were hungry of course.

When I first began traveling in Indonesia I avoided eating at certain traditional warungs. Those with food offerings displayed in the front window - at room temperature. They just looked scary and a recipe for Indonesia Belly.
Then one day well touring around Yogyakarta I acquiesced. And a whole world of fast, cheap and delicious food opened up to me. And I've been converted ever since. Be bold and dive in.
Warung Padangs food is especially delicious and notable for Its high quality of cuisine, broad selections and attentive service.
They serve both meat and vegetarian fare. I dined on the vegetarian items and especially enjoyed the curry tofu and tempeh.

Great place! U get to pick from a large selection of sides. The authentic Balinese experience. The service was awesome and my dragon fruit juice was the best juice I had this vacation. Great place if you are vegetarian as well. I like the ambiance too, nice and airy.

Worst Indonesian food we've had so far. We usually eat at lots of Warungs all over Bali and it's islands. This place is not good, cold food, dry chicken and a hectic waiter. No enjoyable atmosphere. You'll easily find better than that!

Best food I've had on the whole island! Nice to get to see and pick your food and eat it tight away. For what they are serving it's really well priced.
The rendang was really good, but the lady at the counter must have had a laugh when she told me the sambal was mild...

The food is not very good. The service was ok but definitely not a good place for indonesian food
Evan Friday (02/05/2016 08:06)
Try the iced coffee. It's the best I've had on the island and the cheapest! Friendly staff

Good food for a friendly price and the staff is kind.
