Excelent food (the chef is french), clean rooms, well trained staff. The place is located next to the beach where you can do snorkeling. The water is fabulous, good for swimm along with wonderful turtles and fishes. Want to visit this beautiful island? The only way is by walk or rent a bicycle near the resort.

Great location food service atmosphere, some work required in unit 20 as bathroom roof had leakage during rain storm but we enjoyed the beachside experience

Had dinner, service is fine, but food and price were just disappointing. Very low quality especially in comparison with other places on the island.

Best spot to stay on the island with a good buffet breakfast. The staff are nice but the expensive prices are a slight turn away.

Cute little resort on the beach...bit expensive but nice touches to the property make it nice to stay at...love the comfy lounge chairs everywhere..

Fanciest dinner we had on the island, loved it. The tanqueray sunrises were delicious with fresh tumeric, ginger and orange juice. Loved the tuna and the Thai chicken soup too. 5 stars!

Food is good. Dessert wasn't the best. The salad bar was excellent, and the place is so cute. It's a little bit expensive though. Around 120 for a course and 50 for dessert. The juice are around 60 also.

We were very satisfied of the main courses (tuna tartare and butterfish), but disapointed with the dessert (banofee and raspberry white chocolate mousse)

Went to restaurant only. Really enjoyed the full salad bar, and ordered chicken tikka from the grill. The taste was very good, but a very small portion. Location and decor was beautiful!

Gili Air stole my heart. My credit cards too.
To say Sunrise Resort was a traumatising experience would be an understatement. (We are journalists, so that's saying something.)
Our credit cards (4 collectively) were taken from the bedroom safe, in addition to a silver ring from the bedroom.
The two western managers were unsympathetic and did little to help us out of this quagmire. We were left with no more than 1m IDR (that's just over 60 euros) in our pockets.
They also dragged their feet when it came to calling the police to the scene -- citing the fact "this is Indonesia." (Note: there is no police on this island. The nearest station is in neighboring Lombok.)
When we arrived in Lombok, we were informed by the police chief that the managers had in fact told them "not" to come to Gili Air. Keep in mind, we needed a police report for insurance purposes.
Much to our surprise, on our return -- having already cancelled all the cards -- three of them had miraculously "reappeared" inside the safe. (Note: we had searched the safe with an iPhone torch light and taken out and shaken the little fabric at the bottom.) We had even shown the safe to one of the managers on the night of the events.
To our horror, there was no apology from Sunrise's management.
Also despite being aware of our situation, they demanded immediate payment for the hotel. The email read: Please send the proof (of transfer status) "now!" When we did provide proof of transfer, we were met with a threatening tone, as the transfer was not "immediate." (it takes 2-3 working days for an international transfer to come through.)
Moreover, zero gestures of good will were offered. In fact they complained about having been "inconvenienced."
All that said, on a positive note, the location of the resort is top-notch -- by one of the best beaches and a fantastic snorkeling spot. Also, the local staff are relatively eager to help.
Sunrise Resort however is in need of renovation. Do be aware: the photos on the site do not reflect what awaits you.
They do an extremely lazy and superficial job of cleaning the rooms daily. They only make the bed and (occasionally) provide clean towels.
The food is average at best -- certainly in comparison to the likes of Scallywag.
Last but not least, you're not getting value for money.
Don't say we didn't warn you...

After I have ordered and finished having drinks in their beach bar they have told me I have to pay additional money because I am not a guest in their resort across the street. No prior warning. Sorry guys that's not a way to do business! They are also one of rare places on Gili Air that charges additional 10% for taxes and service on top of listed prices (unlike on Bali where it is quite common).

Lovely place, the bungalows are awesome and the BBQ food is one of the best I've ever had in Indonesia.
There's a pool inside the resort and a small beach just in front that provides one of the best snorkeling experience in Gili Air.
The staff is always upbeat, friendly and always with a smile.
