" The place was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, wifi was quite fast compared to other hotels, air con worked well, and the breakfast was also pretty ok. I could come back again. "

" I am conflicted about the qualities of my experience staying at Bambu Cottages. On the one hand, the room itself was absolutely pleasant to stay in; WiFi, air-conditioning, friendly staff and comfortable bedding met my minimum requirements. An outside shower was a feature that I really appreciated and the offering of free goggles for snorkeling was another score. The spa service was great and I enjoyed a 2.5 hour spa treatment and a great cocktail.
21 December 2017Although complimentary breakfast is part of the deal, there was no butter available and child size quantities of fresh juice and half-cup coffees were served. My bungalow was neighboring a loud generator which was constantly on, but this is not unexpected given the constraints of construction on a small island.
The owner of the accommodation is called affectionately by the nickname 'Papa’ by the staff who are all local Indonesians. Personally, this name which at first appears benign actually abstrusely voices the prevailing classist attitudes which contribute to the patriarchal, colonial, oppressive social reality experienced by so many. A more concerning observation is that by far, and in this case, the resorts on the island are owned by Western interests and all profits garnered from tourism which is centred around experiencing the unique Indonesian offering seem to be siphoned off to the West. I would be surprised if, over the period during which the hotel business on the islands was established, any attention was paid to the social to the local community. "

" Stayed here and had a good experience. The island has power cuts but unlike some places they have a backup generator. Our hut and outdoor bathroom were good. Please be aware most places don't have fresh (but slightly salty) water on the island for washing, and this is no exception. It is very well located, right at the place for good snorkeling, by a good choice of restaurant and beachfront bars plus the diving school. The bike rental. Is also one of the cheaper ones on the island. The restaurant and breakfast are good too, one of the better breakfasts we've had in Indonesia. Didn't try the spa. "

" Some of the best food we've had so far in the Bali/Gili island. Location on water front like most of the other bars/restaurants so same great views. "

" Didn't stay, but had a delicious seared tuna poke bowl in the cafe on the beachfront, and a good massage in the 'treehouse' above the cafe. "

" Rip off - the fan bungalows (not shown but correspond to the advertised prices) don't even have windows nor real doors (but huge gaps in the bamboo walls), you share with slugs, mosquitoes, huge spiders, etc. We upgraded booking for three nights (way more expensive), but were told the next day that we'd have to move out earlier as somebody booked online for a better price.. Breakfast with coffee was included, but skipping breakfast and only drinking a coffee left us with a bill for an extra coffee, upon checkout the price suddenly was higher than agreed upon and despite the online policy we were charged with credit card fees.
23 March 2017Some of the staff are very friendly and both pool and breakfast are ok.
It looks nice and the expensive bungalows are ok, but don't go there unless you don't care to be ripped off.. "

" Gili Air is amazing and this place fits the bill. Beach side, amazing views and eating right on the water (just like pretty much everywhere else on the island). "
