Hotel run by a Mafioso. Bad service. Scams to the proposals of shuttles bus. Mafia of scooters right in front of the hotel. Julian the hotel manager can insult you depending on what he drank, or his mood. You must pay in advance. Pay to change her sheets ... Ugly old rooms. Flee Surfers inn.

Disclaimer: This review pertains to the people operating surfers' inn as we did not stay there.
We had heard about the notorious "Surfer's Inn" scooter mafia before arriving in town and did all we could to avoid business with them.
Despite our best efforts, and dealing solely with our hotel - Dream Hotel - our scooter rental still came from them through our front desk guy "Jamal "(unbeknownst to us at time).
After a 5 day rental, 2 of our bikes were "stolen" and Ronnie and his cronies quickly proceeded to intimidate us asking for 15 million idr each! ( old rental scooters).
For anyone not familiar this is a scam they pull every so often, where once they receive their "payment " the bikes mysteriously re-appear in their fleet.
They held us hostage at Dream Hotel overnight , 4 of them sleeping in the entrance, threatening us not to leave. In the morning our group of 7 Canadians decided to walk out peacefully, when things got aggressive on the streets.
After an escalation of aggression from them and other locals they pitted against us, including hitting and holding the two girls and their bags, and then wielding planks of wood, the Police thankfully arrived ensuring our safety.
After a couple hours of police mediation we negotiated down to 4.5 million idr each (total 9 million). The police took a neutral stance.
We filmed everything, all the while Ronnie was quite concerned about hiding his mugshot.
Had we been more persistent or patient, we could have payed less, but everyone was frazzled and we wanted to get out of that town.
Be patient and informed when renting scooters in Lombok. During our stay others were overcharged for trivial scratches ( 1 million) and lost key (1 million)- some being female travellers less confident to stand up to their intimidation.

Do not rent a motorbike from here, you will have to pay 0.5m for 'damages'. Don't trust chap called Ronnie. Got royally screwed by this place.

There was a girl by herself there who they truss to charge more than agreed for the room. When a (western) friend came over they backed down. Later she asked if het cab was already there, the front desk had sent the taxi away as they think they're only allowed to set down customers at their place but not pick up. He litterally said that the taxi company charges 'too little' for fares. They want you to buy their (over prices) tickets. Be aware.......

Vraiment pas fou.
Le cadre à Kuta est idéal, mais le personnel de cet hôtel est oppressant. Tout est excuse à faire payer des extras, et on se sent un peu trop surveillé par les amis du gérant qui rôdent pour nous offrir leur services (locations de surf, taxi pour l'aéroport, location de scooters, ...).
On a choisi une chambre avec climatisation, mais celle ci ne fonctionnait pas correctement. Salle de bain humide et moisie. Petit déjeuner inclut frugal. Lits corrects. Piscine agréable.

Pire expérience de notre voyage en Indonésie: les touristes sont considérés comme des pompes à fric.. l'ambiance y est malsaine ou rien n'est fait pour mettre les visiteurs à l'aise. Une vraie mafia locale. Les chambres sont plus que basiques, voire glauques. N'utilisez en aucun cas les services de laundry: les vêtements s'y égarent comme par magie, sans excuses du personnel.
Seul point positif ( mais faible) la piscine.

Le personnel est incompétent et malhonnête.
Nous avons loué un scooter via le manager de l'hôtel: nous avons eu des soucis lors après avoir perdu les clés, nous nous sommes fait encerclé par des indonésiens et menacé avec un fusil au sein même de l'hôtel. On nous demandait de payer plus de 250€ pour de simples clefs perdues!
Ne louer pas de scooter via l'hôtel, c'est une vrai mafia prête à tout pour vous extirper de l'argent...
Le manager de l'hôtel entretient des relations étroites avec cette mafia locale et se décharge de toute responsabilité... Pitoyable!!!
