We stayed at Nalua surfcamp for 2 weeks. Nice welcoming people. Really enjoyed surfing with Jovan and Ozy; my surfing really improved, also with the surfphotography.
Must say I was very disappointed with the value for money part. The room is super basic: no hot water, no wardrobe for my stuff (so living out of my suitcase). There is a lot of noise from mosques and building activities, so I had to sleep with earplugs. I would have wanted to surf twice every day, but 3 times a week there was only the option to go once (in my opinion not related to surfconditions). This means that on those days we paid 115 euro for a basic room (175 minus 60 euro for surfing). The room is not worth this amount of money. Compared to Lombok standards I would pay a maximum of 20 euros for this room. The breakfast is really basic as well. If I would go to Lombok again, I would book a luxurious room at another place for 25 euros and pay Nalua for surfguiding and -photography only.

Surfing guides and spots were fantastic. Unfortunately the accomodation is of low standard; no hot water, lack of furniture, bad/no wifi connection and a very basic breakfast is served. For the price I expected more.

Only writing here because I had a very unfortunate rental experience from here. I forgot to check the board for dings and only noticed this crack once I arrived to Grupuk. I messaged the place to inform them, rented out another board to keep this one dry and went out for my session. Once I arrived back to the store later the staff dealt very unprofessionally with the situation. They simply refused to refund me my money and told me not to come back anymore. Because of this experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place for board rental.

I spent 4 solo days here with guided surfing. It's a very welcoming place - you can be left alone if you like, but I ended up hanging out with the owners for a couple of meals and felt like I was more than another tourist while here. The friendliness is genuine, as are the people who run it.
Rooms are simple but comfortable, with a private hammock and patio space. You are steps from several good places to eat and drink. The shop is nice as well. Mostly couples and surfers here, a young kid might be a bit bored as there's no pool, etc.
The guided surfing was top notch. So many great spots and they work with boat captains for any breaks that need boats (cost included in the guiding). I only wish I could extend my time!

I stayed at Nalua for a week in a fan room and payed for the package deal with an instructor. It was worth every penny. The rooms were really nice and the people working there were really friendly and inviting. The breakfast on the roof consisted of coffe/tea, fruits, bread, banana bread and eggs. The banana bread was my favorite, really moist!
Since you only are two people per instructor at Nalua you really get the most of it. The instructors are all locals, as far as I know, and they drive you to the different surfing locations and provide you with a surf board. They stay with you in the water all the time and provide you with help, as in pushing the board to catch the wave if needed, and giving you feedback on the way you surf. It was my first time surfing, but after a week with the instructor I managed to hit some pretty good waves!
The owners of Nalua were also really friendly and we got invited to join them for dinner on several occasions. One of my favourite things about staying at Nalua was when all the guests were invited in to the home of the owners for a delicious barbecue.
To sum it up, I really enjoyed everything about my stay at Nalua. Everything from Nalua itself to the town and surrounding nature.

Einfach, puristisch mit Stil, die Dachterrasse ist ein Highlight und perfekt, um sich vom Tag auszuruhen. Lage finde ich super, nicht zu laut und doch mitten drin, Warungs, Hippster-Café, Geldautomat und Supermarkt direkt nebenan sowie Surf-Shop im Haus.

Really really enjoyed this guesthouse ! Rooms were super clean and modern and the free breakfasts on the roof were top notch.
