A lovely place, Kadek fired up the bbq and perfectly roasted some whole fish and chicken breasts in his signature coconut oil, ginger, lime, turmeric and paprika sauce. This was complemented with a lemongrass, Bali basil shallot and capsicum salad, a tasty chilli sambal with the chicken, freshly chopped crispy stirfried veggies and a ginger/turmeric/coconut infused yellow rice. None of this on any menu, just spontaneously crafted with a discussion. Ice-cold Bintangs self-served from his fridge the soup of the day. Light, terribly tasty, holistic foods picked straight out his garden with a super ambience and engaging conversations and anecdotes -a great little Warung with typical island pricing.

The food was good but the experience was off.
We were on holidays trying to relax and the chef was trying to find things to sell to us (a villa, breakfast/lunch/dinner for next day, boat, etc.) during the 30 min we spent there eating our burger.
At the end I wanted to drink my beer as fast as I could to go out of the place.
Also, we were charged for a couple of add ons that weren't on the menu and ended up paying more than in a nice restaurant in front of the sea.
Would be a really nice place if the pitching wasn't so in your face and if you didn't have to pay attention not to get add-ons on your plate that will duplicate your bill...
I hope Kadek will read this so the experience for his customers is more welcoming. The place is nice and food is good, so there's only one thing to fix to make this place a 5 star one.

I've been treated like a walking dollar many times before, but Kadek took this to the next level!
We came to Cassava warung because we saw a sign that said "Veg Burger 25k". We were kind of on a budget so we decided to go for it, thinking we would save a few rupiahs by eating in this very basic warung.
We were not even seated and Kadek, the owner was already trying to sell us his most expensive item on the menu. We only sat because a family of tourist was there and told us the food was good.
We ordered the veggie burgers (which were pretty good, hence the 2 stars) and 2 small Bintangs.
During the whole meal, Kadek kept asking us to tell our friends to come eat at his warung, he investigated where we were staying hoping to sell us accommodation, etc. It went on like that during the whole meal which I found very annoying.
When we received the bill, he had added 10k for a spoon of guacamole on the burger and 10k more for literally 6 french fries on my plate. We ended up paying 145.000 for 2 simple veg burgers and 2 beers. Which by the way is what you would pay for a nice place on the beach.
I was pissed and swore never to come back.
I understand locals need money and want to promote their place, but this is not the way it should be done.

We stumbled upon this little Warung while riding around the hills on our Scooters. The owner is a chef and has started up his own little place. We were happy to try and were not disappointed. The food was fresh and delicious. Our daughter had a tummy upset and he made her a special juice including cactus. I highly recommend getting off the beaten track and giving this place a go. Just a scooter ride up the hill from Lembongan.

Very friendly owner and the dog Berry is really cute. The food is cheap and very tasty. The owner made delicious vegetarian dishes for me!
