This was our first time staying at La Taverna. A friend suggested that we stay here with our two kids and it really was great. At the moment, there are only 8 suites open and it makes for a very small, intimate experience. The rooms are older-but they have great style and you really feel like you're staying in Bali-lots of bamboo! That said, this is not the place to stay if you are looking for a perfect, modern, hotel-chain-like experience. Thankfully, there's none of that here. The grounds are lovely and we spent lots of time just hanging out by the pool. The beach is directly in front of the hotel which was great for the kids especially. The staff are caring and attentive. We felt very taken care of and had a relaxing, lovely week. Thank you to Agung, Dayu, Radi, Agus, Kadek, and the rest of the staff.

The conduct and personalized service of the staff was exceptional.
This older property, with direct beach access, occupies less than half the land and has pleasant gardens, meandering stone paths, Balinese statues and seating platforms scattered across the grounds.
The breakfast was served on the beach, under canopies and was excellent.
There are private use sun benches and tables on the beach front and snacks, meals or drinks can be purchased from the restaurant.
The pool is somewhat narrow and I didn't find it inviting.
My room had good AC and the mattress and bedding were good quality.
The cable TV reception was quite poor on most days.
The WiFi had good speeds and connection problems were quickly resolved when encountered.
The eves on the porch were quite low - I forgot to duck and lost skin on my head twice.
The room doors had a gap when closed. There were open air vents from the outside but despite this I had no real problem with mosquitoes.
The floors through out the room and bathroom were pebbles inlaid in polished concrete.
The antique, heavy wooden doors to the bathroom were very difficult to open or close and a gap remained when closed.
The hot water in the bathroom was good but I did feel unsafe getting into the sunken shower area.
If you are looking for an older, Balinese style, beach front property, this maybe to your taste.
