Beautiful and quiet during the week, local Tourisme takes over a bit on the weekends which is part fun and sometimes noisy. Food is great, snorkeling fantastic and lot's of adventures to be had!

Fantastic place for a raw and no-posh stay, Indonesian style with Italian/French influences, good for diving, snorkeling, relaxing, eating, drinking, having fun. Thanks to the wonderful owners we had a great honeymoon there.

The location is quietly dramatic, the beautifully made wooden chalets are tucked under a steep volcanic outcrop, enveloped in impenetrably jungle. You look out over the bay at a range of steep tropical hillsides. The beach is pristine sand and coral fragments. The waters are clear and the reef is healthy. But none of this prepares you for a short boat trip around to the seaward face of the island. Untouched tropical island idyll. The resort has every comfort except for fast internet. The food is french influenced indonesian or the otherway round and the conversation at the dinner table is mainly about what people saw underwater that day and where to visit tomorrow. There is a lot to see. What a joy to stay here.

Once in Cubadak, Again in Cubadak ...
After staying in Cubadak in February 2011, nearly a week … A desire to go back there as soon as possible came up as soon as we were off it … Which we did in May 2011 for the same length of time as the first stay …
I am always a little bit sceptical on version 2.0 of a trip (or others), many factors make it different and sometimes regrets of elements come to you, making you physically present on your second trip, but with your mind still thinking of the first one …
But even though we came the second time for different activities, taking the PADI course with Marco … It still had the same spirit than the first time, when we came in order to find a special place, unique by the way it is built and by the way it is run … I can say that we appreciated it even more, even though if the surprise effect was not there this time, by the fact that it nearly felt like coming back “home” …
Food as during our first & second stay was excellent, a nice mix between Italian, French and Indonesian dishes and flavours … And the “promise” of not serving twice the same dish during our 2nd stay, was once again kept … But with other guests, we did manage to get them to bend this rule in order to be able to enjoy their fabulous home made ice cream ;-) …
Thanks Frederica and Dominique, Nanni and Marco as well as all the rest of the Cubadak team for making the version 2.0 at least as good as the version 1.0 of our stay …
No doubt 3.0 is on the way …
