Nice place to hang out with friends, enjoy happy-hour drink, live music and just chill out

Downstairs is a bit hot, or maybe that was because I was sitting at the bar. Upstairs is very nice, intimate, with mood lighting and good live music. Food is moderately priced and fairly tasty, expect to spend about $15-20 on a meal, drinks not included. Drinks are alright too, my G&T cost me $7.

Great place for drinking and hanging out with friends! There are also live band performances on the second floor (stairs near the back of the building) if you're into music!

The food is quite good and it’s quite affordable considering it’s HV area. The place is more like a bar than a restaurant. Good for drinking..

Live band playing covers upstair. No need to queue for drinks or food at the bar as service is provided if you get a table. Great place for all occasions.

Unpretentious Rocking good time upstairs. 've been 10years since last visited and still so casual, welcoming and with great live bands to boot. Settings though has changed from the lower tables and sofas to bar stools & round tables but it's the friendly atmosphere that truely matters.

Had a great time here the other night, Wala Wala is a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a jug or two. Food is above average for the area, impressive feat for sure. Easy ipad ordering, friendly staff. Had to remove a star just for the state of the restrooms, definitely need more attention.

A place where friends meet. Even for the first time! Fridays at Wala Wala are one of the best in Singapore. It's the u our and masterful blend of ambience, great service, superb live music by the band Reverie and the overall relaxed atmosphere that makes this place so enticing. The drinks and cocktails leave you satisfied and yet yearning for another. Every month they would have specials on certain drinks and bottles and even without, value for money is a key feature here. Food is pleasing aesthetically, gastronimically as well as in quantity. If you cannot finish a bottle, just put your name on it and the bar will keep it for you for the next time you come, upto 3 months! On Friday nights at 1145pm a surprise special is released for half an hour so be there and listen in, while enjoying the world class music from the band Reverie. It's open almost every day and every day the staff are welcoming. Try it out and you'll be a Friday night regular in no time!

Ample selection of drinks: cocktails, beers, ciders... affordable prices. The ambiance is simple, warm and welcoming, packed with easy going people. Staff is friendly and efficient. Friday night's music is nice to sing and swing along. A perfect place to unwind after a week of work!

Great lively place in Holland Village for drinks and food with friends. With live sports on the 1st level and live music on the 2nd level. Great selection for food (pizza, pasta, steak and bar bites)

Came for the beer and food, stayed for the band. Second Friday in a row that I am here, and my girlfriend and I love the place. The band Reverie is just awesome.

Was quite fun here haha. Came here to celebrate someone’s birthday and really enjoyed the food though the spicy wings were kinda too spicy. Wouldn’t recommend the fish and chips as they were a little bland but hey everything else was awesome.

If you want to listen to some great live music in a jam packed and constantly buzzing atmosphere, Wala Wala is the place to be. I absolutely love it.

My favourite bar at Holland V, love the live band upstairs, especially on Thursdays and Saturdays when they feature my favourite local band. When you want a more quieter setting to be able to have a conversation, there are plenty of tables on the ground floor.

Nice atmosphere and music, but a bit pricey compared to some of the other places around the area.
rishita changede (14/03/2017 00:45)
The ambience is different. They do have a place to watch sport and another for live music... The place had some good food options....
Gepp Koh (06/03/2017 03:08)
It's a nice place with different environments with different moods. The 1st floor is just like any other typical bar while the 2nd floor has a live band with nice ambience. Try to go earlier to enjoy the happy hour prices since they have a large selection of drinks. The standard in food has dropped compared to last time so just go there for the finger food.

Beer, bar food, chilled atmosphere and fast service. Great for a couple after-work drinks.
Sherly Lieanata (03/01/2017 15:48)
Great music!!!! Really one of the best place I Singapore where they know how to play so many songs. Went on Tuesday night and the band playing was Tabula. Amazing vocals and perfect drums/guitar. Food was not bad, but I would pay for the ambience and vibes

Highlights
A favourite live music bar of the locals: Proudly serving excellent live music for over 20 years in Singapore, Wala Wala Cafe Bar has become one of the best places to enjoy music in the island city. To many Singaporeans, Wala Wala is a part of their childhood and adulthood, a relaxed place to chill out with family and friends.
Live performances at Wala Wala start earlier than its counterparts: This is one of the main draws of Wala Wala Cafe Bar as many people want to enjoy live music for two to three hours and still probably get home before midnight. Performances start from 19:00 on weekdays and 21:30 on weekends.

Wala Wala has gone downhill these last few years. Where the service staff used to be attentive and alert, now they are surly and indifferent - a problem with many Singapore restaurants. Food is so so and drinks are expensive, particularly after happy hour ends. Moreover, smokers tend to gather around the fringes of the dining/drinking area, so if you're sitting near the edge's of the restaurant, be ready to inhale some serious secondhand smoke.
Wala Wala is also well known for its live music. I went there one Saturday night, and while the band was competent, they played a bizarre mix of songs: Smoke on the Water was followed by Uptown Funk, which then led to an eighties ballad. In short a bizarre selection of unrelated material. They closed the set with an angry, heavy metal number. I needed a drink to bring me down from this.
One other issue with the live music: they tend to take very long breaks. This means an evening of live music is punctuated with long periods listening to the stereo - although this is probably better than the bands on offer.
It's also very crowded on live music nights. Most people are sitting their nursing a drink for an hour or two, and the key objective appears to be guarding tables.

The best part about Wala wala is the upstairs where they play live music. This is a place where many Singaporeans have been coming since their university days till now. To get a table, you should arrive latest by 7.30pm on Fridays & Saturdays. Their fried calamari and chicken wings are good since forever, and happy hours last till 9pm. They now use a ipads for ordering so drinks come much faster than before.

Fantastic live music on the second floor! good but slightly pricey dinner. Drinks are not very cheap too.
Han Nguyen (31/07/2016 03:07)
Always crowded after work and on the weekends. Good live bands upstairs but that means usually hard to get a seat/table. Downstairs can get very warm and noisy as the tables are very near to each other. Trying to squeeze in too many of us!
Karl Duffill (18/06/2016 03:20)
Single handedly one of the best nights out my friends and I have had in Singapore. Great live music!
Ian Lee (09/06/2016 07:59)
Goood music, but very crowded at night!
Clement Wong (23/04/2016 03:17)
Really great ambience to chill out and hang out over with a couple of friends. Nice selection of beers and happy hour choices of you go early. I like the live band music too. But it can get pretty crowded and hard to get seats.
Fei Fei Chiam (21/01/2016 17:01)
Live music. A must try is the chicken wings and the Parma ham pizza! Outdoor seats available.
