Food is good but very inexperienced service and staff. Waited a long time for food and with lousy service, this place is NOT worth the money.

I regret to say that, this place is getting worse and worse since the original owner sold it some years ago. Now this restaurant has reached a stage where I have to tell my friends, "never go" for both quality of food and hospitality.
Tsukune used to be a signature dish and was worth visiting for. Now it is just acceptable quality. I can find better ones elsewhere in Singapore. Tebasaki uses watery and tasteless chicken wings making it a funny texture. A handful of shredded-paper-like Eihire (dried Stingray) is worth ordering just to make fun of it.
The worst experience was hospitality and service, largely due to the Japanese manager in my opinion. The hall staff missed to take one item in our order but they kept saying "in progress" when I inquired for status of the particular item. When I finished my dessert and further waited for another 20 minutes (total 50 minutes), I went into kitchen and noticed that there was nothing "in progress" for our table. Then they changed their explanation by saying "there is no such thing in your order". They couldn't answer to my question "why did you say 'in progress' then?".
Finally the Japanese manager stepped in. I thought he came in to settle down things. Although he classified this "in progress" of missed order as their mistake, his attitude was not apologetic at all saying "So you want to cancel? / で、キャンセルします?". I told him how unpleasant this whole experience is, but he said with his angry face and loudly voice "I'm sorry! Is that what you want? / すみませんでした!これでいいの?"... That's when I stopped my conversation with this Japanese manager and left the place. At least one staff member followed us saying "I'm sorry for that" outside the restaurant.
With this manager who has no sense of professional serving, I don't expect this restaurant to be able to provide proper training to kitchen and hall staff. No expectation for anything to be improved.

Good quality Japanese food in Singapore. Fair pricing as well.

The tsukune with mentaiko was quite nice but saba fish is prepared too dry. Other dishes are quite decent.

Just left the restaurant with a stomach of angry fire. They served raw tsukune and when I informed the staff. She immediately took the plate to the kitchen without telling us what's happening. After 20min the manager bring out another plate of COOKED tsukune put on my table and left without a word.
I take it as NORMAL incidents when they serve RAW FOOD in their restaurant. The thing is, we have a pregnant woman with us. And no one come to our table to apologize not even a word. When I talked to the manager before we left, she apparently knew about it. And no apologies at all, the only replied just 'yes'.
Ridiculous!!! Won't come back again, and if you think to come to this restaurant please THINK TWICE.

place feels like you've stepped into a yakitori joint in Japan after work... I would taste as a 4 but the tsukunr order was undercooked... beware of this and may have to send it back to cook again... surprisingly this has stayed alive for years now and there's always Japanese people eating there...

Their Tsukune is a must try. The best and most authentic yakitori.

Never eat this shop!! Their service is very bad and prices are higher. Sometimes, the plate is dirty. They didn't wash carefully the plates. Very noisy and the shop owners cannot speak english well.

I think this place is technically an izakaya, but IMO the food here takes center stage. They serve a variety of yakitori (basically char-grilled meat on sticks) including tsukune (think small meatballs on sticks), as well as a number of other delicious small plates like chicken karaage. The service is quick, friendly, and always correct. And the hot sake tastes great with everything! Highly recommended.
