Fantastic, cheap local food. The large bottles of Tiger Beer at $6.50, complete with mugs of ice (don't knock it till you try it!), help with the thick, humid air. A great place to be adventurous and try the traditional Kaya Toast Set or the more exotic congees, or just to get a delicious Chicken Rice for under $5. This place rocks.

Many good food stalls here. Those are closer to traditional taste many years ago but then you need very good patience to queue for them. Good place to have delicious food.

You can find good breakfast here. I am fond of hot barley for my drink. The place was clean and the price is reasonable. I would like to come again for the food. The market downstairs is very well organised. It started early in the morning. There were some fresh food, meat and vegetables.

Located in the heart of Tiong Bahru at the upper level of wet market, the food market has since re-opened after undergoing renovation for several months. When we visited recently, there was some activities going on to promote healthier dishes and options. When you visit, keep a look out as they (presumably health promotion board/agency) would distribute discount vouchers. Food was extremely good in the past but has been mediocre as of lately.

A simple market with a range of Vegetables, meat, fruits and flowers to Buy from. Mid afternoon is jam packed with people. The first floor is a massive food court. With over 50 stalls of food providing a diverse menu. The food court has a large seating capacity. But was hard for me to find veg food.

I would never have found this on my own. A guide pointed it out.Totally local and authentic with multiple stores and food on offer. cheap and cheerful. Jackfruit for breakfast sure beat cereal. I enjoyed people watching too. Singaporeans are so kind and respectful. The market was busy but most cleaned up after themselves and were just starting to get on with their day.

Very wide range of decent local and regional foods available. On the second floor of the market, the food centre is kept rather clean and airy.
Stalls are opened as early as 8 am, but a majority of stalls will close as early as the late afternoon. As are most other public food centres. Do note however, that the maaekeet and food stalls are unlikely to be open during the lunar new year celebrations.
Although predominantly ethnic Chinese food, halal food is available.

Best place to try Singapore hawker fare in one location. With recent renovation, place is better ventilated. Best time to visit: weekend mornings where u feel energy n vibrancy.
My fave:
- 328 coffee stall, right of escalator, next to chicken rice stall
- chicken rice stall, next to 328 coffee stall
- teochew fish ball ⚽ noodles, middle section, serves food in purple bowls
- flowers on ground level (not edible!). beautiful n affordable, for homes n friends

This place has nice food. It is cheep too but there are some that are not that nice. Do not always trust the newspaper they hang

It's a great Singapore hawker center with a long history. Right in the middle of an old HDB estate. Most stalls are selling good food. Spacious and well-ventilated dining area but parking space is limited. Weekends are normally packed full of people. If you are visiting Singapore, this hawker center is a great place to experience local Singapore food.

I was in the area and decided to have breakfast at this food centre! You can never go wrong if you come here at the right time for a meal. Seats are available, queues are a reasonable wait, comfortable & airy!
Dan Lee (07/10/2017 04:07)
Ground floor is a wet market and dry stores. 2nd floor is a food centre. Many variety. However, none of them is famous. Quality of food is reasonable. Some are selling above average compare to other food centre.

Fantastic hawker experience with a range of stalls including halal, vegetarian, juices and the ever popular roast duck. Most stalls are hygienic (A) and prices range from $2.5 through to $4.5. I loved my braised beef with crispy noodles. Clean and fan cooled, atm downstairs.

It's okay to come in the afternoon. Half of the award-winning stalls are open, but the crowds (and lines) are much thinner. Easiest way to pick stalls is normally by the length of the line, but in this case, just keep a look out at the awards/articles the best stalls post on their shop fronts.

Great local market, wet market downstairs selling produce and meats. Upstairs is the local food market serving up local delights. Many of Tiong Bahru's famous eats can either be found inside or near by.

Try Bronco Fish Soup! (Yellow sign board) good food, should try them out!
Fish is sea bass(the only one I know in Singapore, yet), and the soup is simple and light. They give a lot of dish for the price paid ($5)! Very worthwhile!

The old atmosphere is gone. Food stall arrangement is too sterile and same mould. Ambience of a landmark is lost. Go for your favourite but close your eyes and write off another charm lost to bad architects. Part of enjoying the food is also the surroundings. Else we all take out and eat at home.

Hawker food court on the second floor. Recently renovated with more seating and fans. Lots of local food at affordable prices. There's much variety so you can try a different item on every visit. Look for the stalls with queues cos those are popular favourites. Most hawkers speak a smattering of Mandarin, Chinese dialects and English.
Veiverne Yuen (11/06/2017 07:30)
Great local food court / hawker centre. Traditional, with a lot of old time favourites. Recently refurbished so it is cleaner and more comfortable, but has kept all of it's old school charm!
HM Choo (10/06/2017 03:44)
After renovation, some of the stalls are gone. Majority are still intact, at the same position. Fresh vegetables, eggs, fish, pork, poultry, fruits on level 1. Food centre on level 2. Good variety.
Damien Tan (23/05/2017 06:17)
Good range of food and has a couple of famous stalls. Usually hot in the afternoon, but I guess that's because of Singapore's weather.
Have a nice vibe at night. But most stalls are close then.
Alan Kong (23/04/2017 01:35)
Love this place. Came here last week but it's closed and learnt it's being renovated in April and May. Will be back here in June
VT Ng (12/03/2017 03:59)
Great place to experience local hawker food (level 2). Good places to buy fresh fishes, crabs, flowers, etc. at level 1.
Rick Smith (17/02/2017 23:25)
Better than avg food, though not much variety, with a couple Michelin Honorable mention stalls upstairs. Good fruits and fish on sale downstairs.
Mikejacqsg Tong (08/02/2017 14:06)
Wide range of food available in the food centre. A few famous stalls are there. Many seats and good place to savour local foods.
Jo Hartanto (24/01/2017 15:37)
Lots of food choice. From entrance, on the left side there are two good char kway teow stall. One is towards salty flavor, and another one more towards sweet. When I got bored with one, I'll eat the other one
Dinesh kumar (14/01/2017 04:44)
There are a lot of different varieties of local food available on level 2 and are priced reasonably. Groceries, meat etc are available on level 1, also it is a great place to find potted plants in this area.
Thomas Lew (29/11/2016 09:46)
It does not retained the old charm after the rebuilding. And it used to be very crowded every evening for the food stalls. Now it is quite quiet. However, it is crowded during breakfast and lunch. You can find some popular stalls here. There is a wet market and small shops below.
Malvin Chan (05/09/2016 19:53)
Thought it has lost some of its original charm & stall owners, it still retains some of the best of the local flavours like chwee kway, fried kway teow, pao, teochew dried noodles, roast pork rice!
Leo Mampusti (09/08/2016 20:34)
One of the best hawkers market in Singapore, clean and lots of options. Price are cheap! Some of the best chicken rice, keuh, chendol, and cassava dessert. Guaranteed a square meal of meat/fish and veggies at Rice Garden
Lindy Tan (26/07/2016 09:10)
Delicious hawker food at affordable price! In fact prices are cheaper than current hawker or foodcourts. Love the chicken rice, loh mee, fish soup, hokkien mee, rojak etc! Yummy yummy!
Parag Bhatnagar (17/07/2016 13:29)
Love this place for food - cheap, good and filling - everything Singaporean food should be. The lor mee stall at this place is quite famous (and rightfully so) and I think there's another lor mee stall which offers shark bits (!) Come here before 12 to avoid the office crowd. There are a lot of great plant shops downstairs too, if you're in the mood to redecorate

2nd floor Hawker Center: Great place to find cheap and yummy local hawker food. Good for breakfast and lunch. Most stalls are closed for dinner. Hawker center can get quite warm in the afternoon.
1st floor Market: Wet market where you can find groceries and various shops around selling daily necessities and more.
