Simple place with simple food, comfortable cosy place and great service. Been a customer for 22 years and love the place, the people & friends and the food. Chicken Wings, Sotong Balls, Top Shells, Ikan Bilis and Cheese Tofu! Sad to hear it is closing. Enjoy it while it is still around.

True to his threat, Mr Long Wei posted a very poor review. He demanded for a discount, which wasn’t entertained. Then he threatened not to pay or else he will write a bad review.
I am a customer with the Yard for the past 6 years and I witnessed the exchange. I think Mr Long Wei came at a very bad timing as a first time customer. Last week, it was announced that the Yard was closing, breaking the hearts of so many regulars. Since then, the Yard has been swarmed with customers very night. This will very much be the case till 31st January. The Yard holds so much memories of so many customers over 34 years. One can imagine the sheer number of customers coming for “homecoming” to bid farewell.

Just read that this place is closing shop soon. Maybe that's why they were so unapologetic about the bad experience.
Apparently there is nothing they can do to compensate a customer that was kept waiting for 40 minutes before being told that the onion rings aren't available.
Yes I can order something else, but my time isn't worthless. Thanks

A place to avoid. Bad food, bad service, and filthy. Of course, it is the "oldest english pub." What do you expect?

This place feels quite rural, which is surprising considering its proximity to Orchard Road, and nice. Very pleased to have stumbled upon what claims to be the oldest British pub in Singapore. However, the staff were unforthcoming and there were no other customers on a Saturday night. It seemed almost rude to stay. Not comfortable. A shame, really. In a nice old shophouse too, and I loved the old-fashioned ambience.

Good British pub - quite authentic!

One of Singapore's oldest pubs and a classic English pub. Laid back and relaxed atmosphere and a family run establishment led by Mrs Poon the owner. Good selection of beer including guest ales. The only downside is the food - don't order anything if you can help it. A lovely slice of Little England in Singapore.

Contemplated to review this place because I wanted to keep this a secret. It's a secret hide out, a cosy retreat, it's quiet, away from the clutter and noise. This bar is like a time capsule, it'll transport you back to the 80s and of course they serve great pints of Guinness amongst other beers.

I had my party for my promotion to Lieutenant Commander here and these folks were great. It was a while ago now but prices were very reasonable and the service and atmosphere were all I could ask for. Also just a nice place to go grab a beer, eat some chili peanuts and hang out with your buddies. Mrs. Poon runs a truly class establishment. Two thumbs up from me.
