I'm a big fan of Singapore Sling and the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore is the place to try the original version and I must say they are making it better than anyone else. It's a bit pricey - all cocktails are S$28, but still worth to try. Very stylish colonial atmosphere. This dark and cool place is perfect to escape from high humidity of Singaporean streets. Currently the bar is closed as part of hotel renovation but will be re-opened mid-2018.

A little bit of colonial history. Just a great visit.

The historical aspects are nice, but $72AUD for two cocktails! Unbelievable!!

Beautiful wooden interior and prompt service. This place is an institution and had a line out the door on a Thursday night in January. The drink tasted delicious but ended up totaling S$36 (including tax and service charge). Go with the mindset of: "try it once to say I have"

My wife wanted to check out the Singapore Sling, which was very much better than I had expected, albeit relatively expensive, for the privilege.
I decided instead to have a beer, which they had ran out of. Waiting staff were great, serving to the tables. Would have liked a little more atmosphere though.

Excellent atmosphere beautiful interior tries hard to maintain the colonial feel, quite succesfully. The drinks here are historic as far as the birthplace of the Sling goes. Prices are sky high as you would expect, and the tourists show up day and night. I still keep on coming at least for a cheeky one whenever in Singapore as a contrast with the multitude of other more modern bars (which are also certainly cheaper).
As expected from the Raffles hotel proximity staff are courteous and well trained.
Definitely worth a visit.

Closed until 2018! Why give it 1 star? Well they send you to a terrible alternative the Billiards Bar where the staff are quite rude and unprofessional, not giving you any time to look at the menu and as soon as you have the last sip a bill will be thrust in your face and others sat at your table before you can even pay! There's no atmosphere or sense of history there so as good as the Sling is, at $31 it isn't worth going while the Long Bar is closed.

What a great place.... Having a Singapore Sling in the place they were invented....
Staff, food and drinks all excellent.

First of all a cocktail is just a cocktail. I have to say it is very good. That is to be fair. Here is why not:
I had to wait at least 45-60 minutes.
I had to pay at least around 30 USD for a Sling (with the cover charges).
I had to accept the deduction of a hot tea from our bill and a plastic shaker to make up for the wait.
I had to accept the fact that pigeons fly all over the place inside a restaurant, over your head.... erm in asia ermm...... birdflu anyone?
I had to accept that the table was wiped with a stinky old rag that left a stench and stickyness on the table.
I had to accept that people throw peanut shells on the floor and it is all around.
Now. I would have accepted all of this if this place is NOT "THE LONG BAR" at "THE RAFFLES HOTEL" and this cocktail was not 30 USD.
I left with a F the Raffles hotel and F the F-in Long Bar and their F-in Sling, attitude.
This is a romanian countryside pub at best, with five star new york prices. BS in my opinion. Any other hotel serves the same Sling in much much better environment for a lot less. Just to be able to say i drank the sling where it was born? Dont be stupid its just not worth it

Maybe one of the oldest bars in Singapore. Great ambiance, but drinks are a bit pricey. A popular haunt for many tourist. The Singapore sling is their signature drink. As a local, it is an ok drink but nothing to rave about.

Great place to visit for the experience. Try the original Singapore Sling, they do make a good one. enjoy eating peanuts and dropping shells on the floor. This place is not cheap, but well worth the visit.

really nice, really cozy. Fantastic Mai Tai accordingly from my friend from Hawaii, origin of Mai Tai. The drink is also nicknamed the "pearl harbour" in US because of the kick that sneak up to you unknowingly. Long bar do the Mai Tai the way it supposed to be. marvelous.

enjoy raffles. even though you stay at raffles, long bar is open to everyone. a little
expensive but you may enjoy live band music and nice cocktails.
it is unique because of peanuts.. you will know if you get there

Why go here? History. Design. Style. the famous drink. price
I've been unfortunately enough to visit here twice in all my years of Singapore. 1st time was awful and 2nd time was even worse.
Raffles Hotel is very historical and well done. This bar however is dreadful - full of tourists and generally the completely wrong tourist
If you want to see the hotel just have a wander around and perhaps take a glass of wine or beer in the courtyard / patio cafe ....... but give this place a miss

Come during a non-peak time to really enjoy the bar and it's signature (read: overpriced) drink, the Singapore Sling. Think of the ~SG$30 cost of one not as just the price of the drink, but the chance to enjoy it in the historical bar inside Raffles Hotel. Explore the upstairs mezzanine, get hypnotized by the calm, pulsating mechanized palm-y leaf air fan things, and take it all in.
Would reco skipping ordering grub here, as you'll finder better and more reasonably priced munchies elsewhere, but for everything else, ambiance is as ambiance is paid for. Enjoyed the free canvas baggie of peanuts to tide you over instead.

Place to go to relive those colonial years. Drinks at par with being a tourist hub but service and atmosphere very good. Relaxed, a place to take the weight off.
Richard Levy (03/05/2016 15:24)
Overrated. Had to queue to get in. Then when you read the history turns out this isn't the original longbar. It was rebuilt and relocated in 1991. The drinks are pretty pricey too. All that said its an iconic location and I'm glad we visited. The atmosphere in the bar is good and dropping peanut shells is fun.

This bar is awesome!! Their old atmosphere and the original Singapore sling which is about $35 including tax (a bit expensive tho...) was so fruity and tasty! You will get a big nuts bag and you can eat them whatever you want! I like them cuz of that salty taste! When I visited the bar, there was a band live!
