The Cathay has theatre which has the biggest screen. You must try this place for movies. They have Sazeria restaurant which is my favourite! Very close to downtown and museum. A good place to visit.

The experience watching a movie there is good. I especially like the dimmer EXIT signs at the front, next to the screen. They don't irritate you during the movie. The basement houses some pretty good food places where we ate at Popeye's ..nice.

Limited stores at this mall, not the best place for shopping for fashion. Many students including myself come here to do school work or project work as there are tables and plugs on the floor for free sitting. WiFi however is quite poor here and the plugs do not work all the time. The Starbucks here may be a better choice if you are able to find a place. Good place to study if you don't need WiFi or computers. This free sitting area also has a few restaurants on the same level, so it is convenient when you get hungry. The cinema theatre is huge and the seats are quite comfortable.

Visited the Cathay Cineplex to watch the new Marvel movie. Ticketing is very simple and fast, either use the self-service booths along the side, or approach them counters if you purchasing combos to enjoy while you watch the movie.
The seats were very comfortable, though the space between the seats could be wider, especially when there are always many people that come in late.
Exiting the theatres is quite straight forward. Like many Cineplex, the exit follows a different path then the entrance.

Fancy place with a nice cinema and hipster goods/apparel. Decent selection of affordable food. Too bad lots of shops have closed. Mall doesn't seem to be doing well.

This is an iconic place. The cinema is pretty nice and there are a few shops inside as well. I like to eat at saizeriya inside the Cathay.

The Cathay is a mixed-use 17-storey cinema, shopping mall and apartment building located at Handy Road and Mount Sophia in the Museum Planning Area of Singapore. Owned and managed by Cathay Organisation, the building originally opened in 1939 as Cathay Building. In 2000, it closed for redevelopment and reopened as The Cathay in March 2006. The building incorporates elements of the old Cathay Building, including its facade which is conserved as a national monument.

Not that crowded and not much to do other than to watch movie, eat not a lot of places to shop. So a good place if you people just want to hang out or. For get together

Weirdly dead place in town. Most shops are closed for good or will be. The cinema is seriously not worth the bother. Parking is painful and lots are limited. Just go to Plaza Singapura. Trust me, you will be better off.

Used to be a nostalgic place but now more modern. Not all the shops are opened. There are some decent restaurants within the building.

Huge mall on Orchard road, with a cinema complex on top, shops on middle floors and food court on the bottom levels. When I was there a lot of shops were not open or were under construction, so most levels made no sense. Cinema is very nice with lot of rooms, I was lucky enough to get into the VIP one with only like 20 seats and meal served. Very nice experience altogether. Movie room was 7.1so no Dolby atmos there.

There is a Singapore postage service storage
For you to collect your parcel. Left foot is located in that shopping mall dealing with authentic reputable brands. Loads of Limited edition shoes. Starbucks , Ban Heng and Ashton restaurant is located in that building.
Let's not take all the Hollywood Movies posters and artwork for granted.. Its one of the most comfortable places to watch your flavour celebrity at the movies..
The sound system in the cinemas theater is very impressive.

Great place for entertainment (pool/ darts/ cinema) however there are a majority of empty shop spaces which makes the mall feel empty
Mabel Ng (26/09/2017 11:07)
Great food, fast service.
Optimum time to eat there: non peak hours.
If you prefer your pastas, ESP the carbonara on the soupier side, visit during peak hours.
During non-peak hours their pastas are drier.
Just a consistent phenomenon I've noticed over a year.

Nice place for late night movie. You can have a meal at near by eateries and restaurants at park lane or short street or play some lan game at park lane mall. Would be better if the mall itself have late night restaurants or eatery.
Fan Huang (18/08/2017 05:37)
Modern cinema with comfortable seats and wide screen. Four stars because the air con is too strong and too cold. Recommend bringing a jacket inside.
Jonathan Cheng (31/07/2017 03:20)
This is one of the original theatres. It's been renovated and upgraded. Still good after all these years :-)
Michael Hu Youren (16/07/2017 21:25)
My usual. Cathay never fails me. Wide and comfortable seats, great air conditioning temperature, amazing sound and picture. Great moments, everytime.
Eric Kwok (02/07/2017 16:42)
Good place for group hangouts. There is a cinema at the top floor with plenty of food options at basement. It ranges from sushi to western food to Korean food and dessert etc. There is also a video gaming shop, escape room and darts at higher floors. There is also a place for pool and snookers on the first floor
Sfee Chen (19/06/2017 07:37)
The mall is quite empty these days. But some gems still exist. Page One has a discount store there, and sells books for as low as 50c! The movie theatre by Cathay is one of the best in town too - well managed and kept! Food options are decent too
Pei Hua Yeap (05/06/2017 04:47)
It is a decent shopping mall with not too many amenities. The mall is known more for its entertainment options like the cinema and group gaming outlets. The cinema itself is great. It lacks a supermarket and food options are slightly limited. The younger crowd drop by this mall for Aston’s, which serve reasonably priced grilled meats. There’s a Starbucks where many students seem to be studying at.

Great place to watch movie. Recommend to play pool here. Cheap and closes late
Dean Loh (04/05/2017 00:12)
Why I voted 5 stars: The popcorns are nice. Seats are comfortable. Most of all, the theaters are very accessible. Oh, and there are self-service ticket kiosk too!

One of the oldes historical shopping mall in Singapore. It has been upgraded & renovated over many decades. Interior is unique but difficult to get to many floors. He only reason coming here is to watch movie in the theatre here. Outside park sports lots of seating places that youngsters love.
Joel Marshall (02/04/2017 02:22)
To hard to get to the top floor from the elevators as always full. Best to take escalators which takes ages as you have to go around on each level. Well designed so it forces you to walk by each shop
Aloysius Chow (24/03/2017 08:14)
A historical landmark of singapore. 1st singapore cinema. Renovated and revamped. This has become a shopping mall with cinema. Also have a big pool and billard shop.
Fionnie Ng (22/03/2017 08:20)
Love the quiet environment here, especially to study. But it gets a little crowded after 3pm!
Special thanks to the mall's technician and the security team for helping me out on my small request to switch on the lights at Starbucks area when it was a gloomy and dark day! Thanks to them, i don't have to study in the "dark" without much lights! (:
Love the variety of food they provide here. A nice place to hang out with friends and colleagues after school or work, for movie or for dining in! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Samantha Yong (28/02/2017 01:37)
Love the Grand Cathay cinema. Plush seats and plenty of leg room. Also the fact that there's a nice crepe shop near the box office is a plus.
Tracy Seow (03/08/2016 05:05)
My favourite cinema in Singapore. The couple seats are sofa style, really comfortable. There is a mastercard discount if you purchase over the counter.

Best cinema experience. Much cosier than others. Have the best cinema popcorn too. Conveniently located near Dhoby Ghaut MRT, and shopping mall.
Wii Lu (22/02/2016 19:50)
My favourite cineplex in Singapore. Conveniently located near the mrt, I like that the movie halls are very comfortable and seats are super comfy too. Separate movie ticket and food queues so it's easier to get what you want. Good sound system in the movie halls too. The rest of shopping in the mall is decent.
Melvin Pao (22/12/2015 11:21)
The Cathay Cineplex screens are bright and equipped with digital projectors and sound system. The seats are comfortable and cushioned, with good legroom. Good enough to sit comfortably for a 3-hour movie. The snack bar has a pretty good variety of snacks and beverages. It also has multiple screens, so there should be no lack of movies to choose from - at least the mainstream movies.
