Long waiting hour just to get the room ready even pre arrangement in 2 week time, receive call from nurse said room is ready, but 10mins later being told need to wait another 2 hours which I already after waited for 2 hours. If I miss the dinner slot, please eat your own dinner. Thanks for everything SGH. Patient have to be patient.

I was confronted about using a shared bicycle outside the hospital premises when 2 security guards confronted me and demanded I give them my particulars. They became aggressive and argumentative when I told them I preferred to see their manager. Took out phone to video them shouting and threatening. The 2 guards tried to snatch the camera then deliberately shoved me to the floor in the process and broke my arm and damaged my hand. Was hospitslised. Couldn't work for nearly 4 months already still in recovery. Hospital spokesperson and security company Aetos denied full responsibility. Newspapers wouldn't take up the story. MPs and ministry ignored issue. Hospital only wants to be 50% responsible for hospital bill and wants a non-disclosure agreement to be sined if any compensation is made. Police investigation still going and the hospital refused any access to footage even through legal means.

Ops processes need terrible working on.
Came for scheduled appointments twice but ended up waiting a couple of hours.
Why set a time if you can’t keep to it? We have a lot of things to settle rather than loiter here. Environment isn’t conducive even if I bring work to do

Need Registration for Ward Visiting.
Limit to 4 Visitors at one time for Normal ward.
ICU will be different.

Don't go to SGH when you are going to have a surgery. SGH now is very different from 2 years ago. They are now very money oriented. My wife is an overseas patient and having a sinus operation. I was quoted about s$15k-24k when I asked through email. But when I arrived in SGH, the admission said the cost is 38k at minimum. They did not even give me the breakdown details of the cost. Usually a hospital should give the customer a detail of the cost such as doctor charges, room charges, anastethic doctor cost, etc. But no.. They said that they will give the breakdown of the cost after the surgery.
The staff herself admitted that SGH is not what it used to be a year ago. They already have many angry patients complaining about the same problem.
So beware, you better look elsewhere. Even Mt. E hospital, which known for expensive charges for international patient is now cheaper than SGH.

My mum was admitted to SGH on 19 March 2018 for an operation at 12pm. Went at 10am for admission procedures. But got a sudden shock when a lady, not from SGH called at 2+pm to asked if we knew that operation has been postponed to 02 April 2018 ??? No one from SGH informed anything until this lady called. Mum waited till we picked her up at almost 4pm! Our entire family was very upset.

Booked for a private room but only allowed for 2 visitors after visiting hour?! The purpose of booking a private room is to allow us to have more people in the room and to give consideration to other patients so that we would not disturb people with our volumes. What system is this when we are paying much more. Ridiculous

Had a slipped disc in 2007...was treated with Nucleoplasty by Prof Tan Seang Beng (totally giving 5-stars to him and his team, esp Dr Benjamin Tow). I was a private patient then and paying full fees without insurance.
In 2014, I was admitted to A&E at SGH for spine problems again. Couldn't walk and was put in B2 ward for a night, given a morphine jab, had an X-ray done and discharged the next day in a wheelchair. Took a few weeks before the muscles relaxed and could walk again. And only 2 months later did I get to see Dr Tan about my condition.
Since then, Dr Tan has taken a backseat and more of a mentor role for junior doctors while Dr Tow has moved on into private practice. The current spine clinic in SGH is no longer the force it once was.
