Don't go to SGH when you are going to have a surgery. SGH now is very different from 2 years ago. They are now very money oriented. My wife is an overseas patient and having a sinus operation. I was quoted about s$15k-24k when I asked through email. But when I arrived in SGH, the admission said the cost is 38k at minimum. They did not even give me the breakdown details of the cost. Usually a hospital should give the customer a detail of the cost such as doctor charges, room charges, anastethic doctor cost, etc. But no.. They said that they will give the breakdown of the cost after the surgery.
The staff herself admitted that SGH is not what it used to be a year ago. They already have many angry patients complaining about the same problem.
So beware, you better look elsewhere. Even Mt. E hospital, which known for expensive charges for international patient is now cheaper than SGH.

My mum was admitted to SGH on 19 March 2018 for an operation at 12pm. Went at 10am for admission procedures. But got a sudden shock when a lady, not from SGH called at 2+pm to asked if we knew that operation has been postponed to 02 April 2018 ??? No one from SGH informed anything until this lady called. Mum waited till we picked her up at almost 4pm! Our entire family was very upset.

Booked for a private room but only allowed for 2 visitors after visiting hour?! The purpose of booking a private room is to allow us to have more people in the room and to give consideration to other patients so that we would not disturb people with our volumes. What system is this when we are paying much more. Ridiculous

My dad was driving and he said he want to go GH. He is taking Hougang MRT to Outram Park MRT. Then my dad listen Capital 9.58. And the radio said the Downtown Line and the North South Line are rushing at 28 August 2017 and 29 of august 2017.

Rushing Line:
North South Line: 1 Hour (NE)
Downtown Line: 2 Hour (DT)

The Car park leaves much to be desired...The walking between different buildings and departments makes it difficult to rate this Hospital any better

Check in yesterday’s 29:10:2017 : 1800 hrs - no dinner just some biscuits and milo - see the ward doctor - told him and nurses more than twice about my dinner - regrettably only biscuits and hot milo served- this has to stop - patients need to eat to strengthen oneself for the days ahead- so please let patient have a decent meal to rest well for the next day activities- come what may to a new day at Singapore oldest hospital............

Service and facilities are good, but too crowded

Thomas Lew (23/08/2017 15:38)
Singapore oldest hospital. Conveniently located but need to walk a distance from the MRT. Superb crowded. Everything must wait. Needs to improve on the efficiency.

Wee Keng Hor (15/08/2017 01:53)
Had a deep wound and needed it to be stitched. But after waiting for more than 3 hrs I still haven't been called. Do not come here unless you want to wait for 5 hrs for your appointment

Ozan Binici (08/08/2017 16:19)
Too long waiting time. Emergency doctor couldn't take initiative just for a small infection and forced me to visit special clinic even he already know that clinic would be closed next day due to public holiday!!!! I will lost 2 more days for medication because of the Doctor. Waste of time and money. I have to go to Johor Bahru just for a antibiotics medication!! Cowards!!

Reeve Ho (24/06/2017 08:26)
Stupid Queueing System! SGH management please think and explore how you can better improve the visitors system instead of keeping it at 2 visitor per visit. Especially when the room are empty and not full at all. Also during Peak hour just to Q for registration again and again is waste for our time and also your staffs time. Pls use brain.

Jia Le Ho (12/06/2017 02:31)
Very good medical service provided by SGH. The follow-up services for a patient is comprehensive. They have very experienced doctors.

RacinGod2088 (13/03/2017 17:58)
The staff nurse are friendly. As for the person in to counter where you apply for visiting aren't so friendly, not all of them.

Joon Park (27/02/2017 20:36)
Excellent education. Academia building is huge

Babu Hillary (24/02/2017 07:02)
An oldest hospital of the nation which will celebrate centenary in another five years. This premises still looking like a star hotel both in service & outlook.
How to reach by rail: East West Line ( EW in green Colour & North East Line (NE in purple Colour) reaches this hospital, which is 150m to 500m away (to reach various specialties) from Outram Park station. And train service is the best option if not an accident emergency. Exit F will bring you to GH ( see photograph).

muhd farhan (10/02/2017 07:22)
Waiting time at the specialist clinic is super long. Waited for 2 hours and still waiting right now. They wont let me post if i gave it 0 stars, so take it as i give it 0 stars. Total waste of a time.

Jimmie Putra (23/01/2017 19:50)
Ridiculous wait time at the A&E. Don't label the place for emergency if waiting time is so long that first visit waiting time was 3 hours and today visit is already more than 2 hours.
UPDATE: Complained to nurse that we've waited for over 2 hours and was replied that 2 hours is nothing. Usually waiting time is 5-6 hours! How can this be an acceptable standard for an emergency department??

SK L (14/12/2016 17:14)
Lack of parking space for visitors is a major concern. Agree with another reviewer's comment that A and E is still not efficient....good luck if one really needs attention fast.

Jeremy Lim (07/10/2016 04:57)
Very good service. Helped me where KTPH couldn't. Forwarded me to the right specialists who can help.

Gordon Jansen (28/07/2016 11:20)
Thank you Dr Joelene Liu, doctors, nurses and staff @ Ward 63 Room 22 for the wonderful care given to my father William Raymond Jansen while he was in your care.

My brothers Bill, Ashley and myself are very grateful for all your help, respect and compassion extended to my father.

God Bless you all,

The Jansen family

Lily KLL (11/07/2016 05:36)
A & E should rename as WTD(wait till die). The fever area so cramp, the seats all occupied. Patient relative selfish doesn't give up seat to needy patient. They just blindly stare at you. Given a bottle for urine test but no instructions given who to hand the bottle to. Was having high fever and stomach pain but not given a bed to rest. Sit for three whole hours feeling helpless.

Ching Ging Ng (24/05/2016 02:08)
Modern and well equipped hospital with friendly staff, especially at the drop off area. Parking is a nightmare though... Even during off peak hours. Definitely worth it to pay for the $3 valet parking.

Nathaniel Ng Li Wen, (18/05/2016 09:14)
Singapore oldest hospital which boasts the largest bed number in the whole island. It contains many specialist though the waiting time might be a little longer compared to other tertiary hospitals

Philomena Kevaro (07/02/2016 13:50)
Excellent service.your doctors especially the ones at the cancer centre are the best.cheerful, welcoming and caring staff are a blessing.

Henry Tang (13/01/2016 10:19)
Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (366 if it's a leap year). Came here 4 times in one year on different occasions (for my S.O.) so got to know the place inside and out. Many doctors on duty -- even on New Year's Eve and Sundays!

They have a flu / fever / respiratory A&E wing for those that exhibit symptoms of the most dangerous flus -- avian, swine, SARS, etc. Rest assured that you will be treated promptly if that were to happen.

As for pricing, it's $115 to get treated here, excluding costs of medicine, etc. Handy if you suffered from acute symptoms in the middle of the night.

Jan 2016 update: came here on 6th around 4am, one doc on duty in fever ward. Longer wait this time... All in all, finished around 8am, including xray and blood test
