Sim Lim Square is the place to go for your cameras and electronics. Although it had some bad publicity, I have not encountered any during my many visits, over many years there. The rule of thumb is to treat the sales people with respect. Always be polite. If you have no intention to purchase anything, do not bargain with them. Also, know what the price is in other malls or department stores so you have a feel for the price to shoot for.

Went to Unicell at Level 2 to have the Drill rechargeable battery cells changed. They have so many batteries and other stuff. Not sure if she's the lady boss but she was really helpful. Very happy new battery cells working well (got to keep the drill set, didn't have to discard it 😊 as it was still mint condition too!)

Singapore's local delights for a store that sells of technical parts large and small, as well as technology products catered for the geeks. Usually sourced at an affordable price, it is seemingly harder to find more affordable parts as at time you might be unknowingly conned if you reach out to the wrong shop and especially if you are not a local.

Just do double-takes and go about this 5-6 floors of tech paradise before you make your final purchase!

CHETAN DARGE (01/05/2018 05:58)
6 floors of only electronics. The massive Sim Lim Square mall is heaven for people who love electronics. Many type of electronic shops including camera, mobile phone, accessories etc. This place has everything, you name it they got it. Must visit place if you love electronics and want to buy some great products.

Derek Yeo (29/04/2018 09:43)
Definitely the Place to visit if you are in Singapore and need anything that is IT related. From PC to Laptops to Mobile Phone Accessories and also Electronics and Digital Cameras. Altogether 6 floors for your to explore but as a word of advise, do your research well before committing as you can also get possibly ripped off here in the Sim Lim Square.

Andrew Tung (25/04/2018 02:16)
The mall is much safer and better to shop at now, that the issues of cheating, etc have been addressed. This is a good place to buy electronics and computer components, if you are looking to build your own PC.

Sim Lim Square is a good place to learn to haggle. Most of the items on sale are marked up and convincing sales people this is the case is your job if you want to buy anything here. Think most of the things people normally purchase here are now better found online. But if you want to explore the retail side of tech and all its glitter and bling, then it's worth a visit and time to wonder around.

Jody Maulana (15/03/2018 01:56)
This place has a lot of elecronic shops, ranging from phones to laptops to other peripherals. There are also adult stores at certain corners of this building. They're very conspicuous; you can barely miss them.

This place has one of the tastiest salted egg I've ever tried in Singapore. Many other Indonesians also eat there!

Vodka Lim (14/03/2018 02:19)
Not as crowded as the hay day. If you want to get bargain computer parts. Go to 4th and 5th Level. Accessories shop lightly you can bargain. Just nicely ask. If you are tired. Basement food court is a nice place. Do note that food price is relatively higher. I usually go Subway where decent meal with a drink is sort of price in the food court.

Daniel Lee (11/03/2018 15:54)
Definitely a decline from early days as many shops are now just carrying similar products, no new innovations being introduced. Guess rentals are high, and shop turnovers appear rather high. Only a few shops from early days still remain. Buyers beware, especially from the China Chinese stalls... products sold here may appear cheaper than offered by bigger local established stores , but have scaled down specs. or China OS which have problems in future. Always check before you buy.

Surprising place for all about electronics.
But the prices aren't so interesting today and the place look likes very old.
I liked to see one shop making mining rigs.

Parichay Chatterji (25/11/2017 06:20)
Orient - Mobile Phone Specialist (#04-56) - this little shop on Level 4 carries phone cases for tons and tons of phone models out there - both old and the very latest. I just bought an awesome matt-black Pixel 2 XL cover for very reasonable price in here. Highly recommended. Shop does not look flashy, but carries the goods. Staff helpful too!

Suchit Nanda (24/11/2017 15:18)
Sim Lim Square used to be the default place to go to get electronics and IT equipment. Lots of camera shops as well but it is no longer what it used to be. Upper level many shops have closed. Generally lower and inner facing shops are active. Lots of repair shops as well. Good place but not as it used to be. Lower level there is a Food Court - not too big but has plenty of options. Easy connectivity by bus. Not so much by MRT.

Man Hound (20/11/2017 09:51)
A good place for you to buy your basic electronics and stuff. There's a ton of services here at Sim Lim Square, ranging from phone repair, PC repair, to purchasing a phone or PC, or even a phone case. Basically there's almost everything that you need for your technology needs. It's accessible from other parts of Singapore as well, with Rochor MRT downtown line just right beside the building. But shoppers will have to be careful when shopping here, because there can be a lot of scammers here that take advantage of those customers that does not know anything about technology. Always be careful when purchasing a product here, especially if you're a tourist or from overseas.

David Federhen (15/11/2017 06:59)
Crazy building full of small electronics shops. There's a wide variety of gadgets you can get here and because of the number of shops on site price transparency is pretty high. However, many places also look a bit shady which is not to say that they actually are - but I guess one should be skeptical if the deals just get too good. Also, make sure your gadget has international warranty and not just in Singapore.

Angus L (12/09/2017 10:15)
Far cry from its heyday. There are still good bargains, if you know where to look. Best be very specific on what you want and do some homework on the net first.

Choon Heng Peck (11/09/2017 03:27)
The favorite computer hardware mall is obviously on the decline. Don't expect to see the crowd like it was in the 90s through 2005. Still has its charm. Go and visit while you can before the whole mall gets closed down.

Fabien Herry (09/08/2017 13:35)
Mix of every IT products from fair price to rip-off. Choose well your shop, higher levels are recommended for best value and customer service.
Not all products are in stock.
Also be very careful on the repair shop for phone and laptop. If it a software issue your better off to bugis. If not for hardware try finding the top floor ones first. As some damage your phone and laptop. Poorly format you computer. Or even over charge you.

Quinten Doornbos (23/07/2017 02:09)
One of the few one-stop shops in Singapore. Anything to do with electronics can be found here, if not in Sim Lim Tower, the Square's younger less popular brother. The first couple floors have slightly higher prices and so it does require some haggling and searching for the right value for money, but you can practically guarantee success for any tech mission you may have.

Dhrubajit Paul Chowdhury (09/07/2017 05:24)
U can find most electronics stuff here. But beware of the sellers.. U can always bargain and ask for a better price and make sure u look for the product at multiple stores before purchase so that u can make a more informed judgement

Saswat Mohanty (02/07/2017 06:19)
You will find almost all electronics, gadgets here but you need to be careful about real and fake. Sellers are good in persuasion, so better do your own research before buying. Some sellers are kind of rude and look in a hurry to get the deal or just leave my shop mood. Some other sellers are quite patient and friendly.

Philip Wong (01/07/2017 13:04)
Do your research and you will figure you don't really need to buy from here.. lots of random overpriced accessories. I bet online store will get you a better deal than what these guys offer

shayne baird (24/06/2017 06:34)
Great range of computers, phones and accessories. Also possible to buy other items like fidget spinners. Make sure you look on higher levels as the price does change.

The food court underneath is excellent.

Paul Wei Quan Loh (02/06/2017 05:32)
Do not, I repeat, do not ever come here for your electronic needs. Even though there are some honest businesses situated here, majority are shops out to con people, and I had personally encountered once. Prices are not cheaper and could be even more expensive. Be warned!

Gregory Kaschula (06/05/2017 12:56)
Good place to shop for computer equipment. Know your prices before buying anything as some shops will not display prices and you need to negotiate. Some camera shops have grey products so do your research before buying

Samuel Tan (02/05/2017 15:41)
A building infamous for housing many scamsters and cheats. Stay away from the stores on the first floor, check price lists online before shopping and know what you want to buy before going. If you're savvy and aware of this tech haven's well known dangers you'll probably be safe! There aren't many of such niche retail communities in Singapore anymore.

Joe Deeb (22/04/2017 15:59)
Being one of the few electronic specialized malls remaining, this one takes the crown. Each floor is dedicated to a specific type of electronic, and there's a helpdesk to make your stay here a hassle-free experience! Prices are competitive as well..

Ganesh App (17/04/2017 04:47)
A bit shady place. So many vendors for repairing your laptops and cellphones etc. Can get anything repaired here, but need to be careful. Need to negotiate price a lot. There is no standardized price. Also poor service level agreements. They take their own time.

First Last (26/03/2017 09:34)
Shopping Mecca if you looking for computing devices and accessories. Just be careful that some shops will try to take advantage of you if you don't know much about what you want. If you got relevant knowledge, you can find some good bargains. Nice food court at basement, other smaller eating places in other floors.

Mike Huang (02/03/2017 09:40)
There are better deals online and you don't have to walk around for a couple of hours just to find something you need. It might be decent if you want to demo some products.

Dhon Mennen (24/02/2017 00:48)
This is probably one of the bigger digital mall. Majority of the stalls are safe but a few are risky to high risk. They may show you original but when you pay and collect it may not have a number of things or it may be a fake. Before buying ask all that you need and also check what you get for the price like the local and/or international warranty, charger, stylus if the gadget has a space for stylus, ear piece, battery or if it is built and the manual. After buying register your warranty with the original receipt of purchase. Check the receipt indicates the item you have purchased. Now check the gadget again coz this is where the magic happens. This is your right. If you encounter any problem contact the authorities.

Steven Teo (06/02/2017 20:08)
Great place to shop for all your IT and photography needs. It has almost anything you need for your technological needs at a good price if you know which shops to trust.

Buyers should be aware of usual scam tactics and blacklisted stores that are available on notice placed by CASE.

Bryan Chihan (31/01/2017 18:11)
great place to get bargains on electronics. but beware of shops that are blacklisted for over-charging and cheating customers, usually on the first and second floors.

the safe ones AFAIK are Song Brothers, Alan Photo, some broadcast equipment stores and their affiliates. rule of thumb, look for known-brand shops or when their staff are wearing uniforms and not looking like shifty characters

Daren Lee (12/01/2017 02:17)
Definitely a planes to go if you looking for great price on computers parts and laptops. Level 4 and 5 are honest. Level 1 & 2 please Shopping With card as some are out to rip off tourists. There is a black list available at the info counter.

TO AVOID URGENTLY (I was ripped off by a local phone repairer)

I seldom publish commentaries on the internet, but I felt like this time this awful customer experience needed to be spread :

1st day : I obtain a repair of my battery + screen + central button for 100 (SGD). Everything is fine, my iPhone works again.

2nd day : I acknowledge the touchscreen is working poorly so I go back to the repairer. With my warranty (1 month) he changes the screen. FINE.

3rd day : SAME problem once again, the touchscreen does not work efficiently I can not even enter my entry password to access the apps. I go back to the repairer. He argues that the screen has been "physically damaged and that the warranty does not work" whereas there is not even a single flaw on it. I am trapped.

Conclusion :

1) know that few local people go to these informal repairers. Why? Because they are simply robbers waiting for the day they will manage to prove you that your warranty (which is a piece of sheet) doesn't work any more.

2) Besides, know that there is a lot of coercion on the prices right here, and bargaining can never be a victory for the customer. All the more if you're a foreigner.

BUY NEW. BE SAFE.

Note : avoid especially the following shop E&E TECH SERVICE CENTRE PTE LTD

Great place for all your computer hardware needs, but tourist do beware of some of the blacksheep shops that are to con your money. For reputable shops, do try Fuwell, Bell and Cybermind

Chandhana Dias Abeyesinghe (04/10/2016 05:35)
Be very careful in your choice of shop as some are infamous for ripping off unwary customers. Buy from stores displaying a 'Star Retailer' sign. Other than for that, this mall is a good place to shop around for some of the best prices for PC components in local brick and mortar stores.

Cong Cao (13/09/2016 06:11)
Man, this place is crazy. I don't come here to shop for electronics very often, its a huge tourist trap and a good majority of stores on the lower floors are not exactly the most honest, so stay away for consumer goods unless you know exactly what you want and how much you're willing to pay for it.

THAT said, if you're here for computer parts, hit up floors 3 and up. I recently purchased a new PC and did a lot of my price checking online across multiple sites. I went to a store called Best Price on the 4th floor and the prices are definitely comparable to those online.

I didn't want to wait for delivery, hence I went to buy myself but not after making sure I knew the price range of all the parts I wanted.

The guy at Best Price, I felt was also quite honest. I told him I wouldn't be overclocking my pc so he said there is no point getting the Z170 chipset and just get the B150 chipset. I had previously read about both chipsets and had my heart set on the B150, it was nice of him to also recommend the cheaper B150 chipset knowing that I wouldn't be utilising the features of the Z170.

Christian Weller (05/07/2016 06:07)
You love it or you hate it. If you know what you are looking for, it's an excellent place. Haggling is possible, but a good bargain is hard to get. Good resource for components. Now, with subway connection!

Jo Tan (04/07/2016 23:22)
If your into parts and componentry. This is the place to come for electronic nic naks. IC chips, Pi, cables connectors and etc.

rapheal azrin (18/06/2016 04:53)
Parking is from the ERP gantry. Else park next to LaSalle. Very expensive if you don't have a guide. Phone repair is cheap n good at Lv2. Reasonable price for laptop repairs.

Ryan Choo (17/06/2016 06:05)
Linus from Linus Tech Tips has been here before and you know that you should avoid certain shops that are shady. However, there are many honest shops in business and you will find better bargains should you spend some time to compare prices floor by floor. My favourite being Orient Photo on Level 6 where I get to try out the latest camera gear and accessories. Look for Eddy! 👍

T Kawabata (12/06/2016 00:34)
I recommend this place for gadget geeks. You can enjoy amazing choice of smartphone, pc and others. But, don't foget to check place by priceme or pricepand before parching. Some shops offer higher price than usual, especially for foreigners. If you avoid it, I recommend funan digital mall near city hall MRT.
