We just spent 4 days at this hotel (April 2018), and my wife and I are both pleased. Sure, the hotel seems like it was built in the 70’s, but all the plants and palm trees everywhere, fish-filled ponds, etc totally make up for it. Makes for a peaceful environment. The room was very clean (and modern), and the service was great all around. I recommend this hotel.

The room was very well maintained and the check in prices was smooth and good.
However I would say that the experience at The Line for breakfast was very chaotic (no fault of the team) but it was clear that there were too many guests. This group from India was very unruly and the staff were unable to control them. This unfortunately killed the experience and made what was supposed to be a relaxed breakfast into a mad rush.
I would also comment that the service at the Horizon club was rather disappointing as they were not attentive when the customer arrives (despite it not being a peak period). Perhaps I might be a little sensitive, but I also believe that the service staff was more attentive to foreign guests rather than local guests.
I would say that Conrad's service at the lounge is still one of the best as they provide a very warm service regardless of the customer's nationality.
Lastly, when I requested for an additional pillow at around midnight, it took half an hour before the pillow arrived. Furthermore the staff delivering the pillow looked more hurried rather than apologetic for keeping your guest waiting for such a long time.
Perhaps it could be my fault for having such a high standard, but I would like to believe that the Shangri la should be held at such a high level.

The Valley wing and valley wing staff were superb. Myself, wife and two small children 5 & 7 (from New Zealand) stayed there and we were well looked after. Dominque was excellent and his team absolutely outstanding. The high tea and snacks were the icing on the cake for such a well looked after property.
The only disappointing thing was an entitled English man complaining in one of the other wings that his room was not ready when we arrived at the main lobby. It was only 1130am! The girl handling the man was doing an excellent job and keeping professional the whole time. Well done to her.

Stay in family deluxe room for 1 night, great services from the ground staff, the room is comforting and spacious. My kid love running around and look at the mirrors. The indoor 'balcony' is a great place to chill day or night. The swimming pool is kids friendly. The BUDS gave a good experience for my kids. A lot of parents are there despite weekdays despite I heard it is not consider crowded on weekdays

Best hotel we have ever stayed - not cheap but worth every penny. Dined at Origin Grill - food and staff were excellent. Think maybe the quality and atmosphere at the Line restaurant has changed since our last stay - so busy at weekends that it feels too frantic. Previous stays, buffet was fantastic but this time not so impressed. Staff in The Line are not as obliging or as well trained as before - no-one seems to be in charge.

Excellent staff, both at reception and concierge. Lobby area and gardens are extremely beautiful and We were particularly impressed with the facilities in the health club and the staff and ambiance of the Origin bar and restaurant.. Really enjoyable stay and will come back again

I didn't stay there as a hotel guest but was there with my kids at the Buds play ground. Kids loved it and the play area hosts were all friendly, patient and great with the kids. The venue was well equipped to give kids a great time, with ball pits, slides, music room, art room & glow in the dark painting, toddler play area, in door and outdoor dry and water play areas. My kids loved it!

Everyone was super helpful, friendly and chatty. My stay was flawless. My only advice would be to improve your sandwich menu. It's just a personal preference really because I love sandwiches. Other than that, keep up the good work!

Very recommended especially when you are travelling with little kids. They have an awesome indoor and outdoor kids center, it's not free though, you gotta pay 30$ but I think it's worth it because if you stay there, your kids can play for the whole day. Room was awesome too. Location wise, a bit far from Orchard area but they have shuttle bus that can take you there every one hour.

Was here on a few occasions for corporate events and dinner. Food is generally good but may not always be worth the price depending on which restaurant. The interior is high end, and the parking price of $8 is high end to match... The location is a little out of the way from public transport, taxi is recommended.

New rooms on the small side. Food quality of breakfast at The Line below expectation. Spa treatment is good but massage bed is so soft that I came out of the treatment with a sore back. However, the overall feeling for this hotel is still good. Staff are friendly. Pool is nice, a great gym. Will still come back.

I really enjoyed my stay. All of the staff were friendly and helpful especially Johnny @ reception who went above and beyond to advise me on the things to do and see in Singapore. The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The breakfast experience was one of the best I've ever had. The food was amazing and the range of cuisines was eclectic.
Even after I checked out I was sill made to feel like a welcomed guest. I was able to leave my bag all day while I went sightseeing and had access to the facilities upon my return. When I finally left Johnny was once again there to help and say goodbye.
I couldn't have been happier with my stay in the Shangri-La hotel.
Many thanks,
Paul.

I came in very early for check-in (around 7 am) and without hesitation, I was provided with a room as per my reservation. The room was exquisite, with very useful amenities. I had chosen the Garden View room which provided a very refreshing and relaxing atmosphere and view. The staff were very accommodating, respecting the privacy requested, and providing assistance whenever needed. My only feedback on a shortcoming is the unusually long time for our breakfast order to be served at The Line (we had ordered Ala Carte). Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay, a great locality and wonderful service!

Stayed when we first came to Singapore - really liked the hotel. Great breakfast. And would recommend. Parts can be a bit dated (rooms). Also had a couple of work type parties - generally good with good food. Also been to the Cantonese restaurant which we like for dim sum. Also a nice location with greenery

I went to Shan palace restaurant to have lunch. The location was not good, but staffs were friendly (especially for women staffs) and they gave me a great service. I had lunch with 2-year-old-boy, but it was all right, because staffs were very kind. The meal was not so cheap, but not so expensive (about 60s$ per person) at lunch time. The meal was great, and the hotel was very clean. I highly recommend to reserve a table the day before you go to the restaurant.
Megan Flashman (16/09/2017 09:25)
Fantastic hotel, very helpful and friendly staff. I can highly recommend the Line Restaurant for the international all-day buffet breakfast. They have a fantastic selection of international cuisine which would please any palate. There are 16 hot & cold food serving stations to choose from - Cantonese dim sum to European cheeses - and the food changing daily. Al fresco dining is also available beside the pool area. The dining area is very light and cheerful, which adds to the dining experience.

This is one of the premier location and a prestigious place for private functions. Some time parking is a problem with limited space, specially when large functions take place. Valet parking available at a premium. If you are staying there its a wonderful place with nice ambiance everywhere in the hitel. Just a short walk to famous Orchard road and premium shopping.
Ray (19/08/2017 09:30)
I was here attending a social event. The atmosphere was really chill and cozy. Also the decor was congenial and not at all obnoxious. Toilets will really dope, super clean with towels for drying off your hands, not to mention: free combs! The staff were exceedingly pleasant and really helpful. I should however state that the function rooms(specifically the island Ballroom) left a little more to be desired. The projector quality was subpar; color reproduction was off and the mediocre resolution did not help its case. Furthermore, I saw a little cockroach scurrying around the function room. Yet, given that massive amounts of food being prepared for many guests on a regular basis, I'll give it a pass. Should function rooms / ballrooms be improved to a standard such as the rest of the hotel, then this would have been an amazing experience. However, if one was looking for accommodation in Singapore, then this would be an ideal choice, because it is still many notches above the majority of hotels in Singapore (less the cost).

It is a beautiful place. Great view of the entrance and nice swimming with greenery. The-Line Restruant is excellent however missing oysters. But overall this hotel is worth staying. Rooms is spacious and lobby environment felt very welcoming. Good!

Went Rose Veranda for a high tea buffet with my wife and daughter. The ambience was cozy ; we had a table near the glass panel, overseeing a fountain. The food was delicious. My wife and daughter enjoyed the wide range desserts very much. I was also surprised by a birthday cake (and birthday song sang) prepared by the staff. It was a delightful afternoon for me. Would very much like to visit the place again!

I went to the line restaurant. It was a Tuesday night but full of people. $108, free flow wine and beer. Food is good. Seafood is fresh. The toilet at the lobby is 5 star.
Choon How Tan (04/07/2017 13:03)
I dined at The Line restaurant on 29th Jun 17 for lunch. There was a wide variety of food from Indian to Chinese to Japanese cuisine. The lobster laksa and the satay were not to be missed. But the main highlight went the dessert section. The variety and the quality were head and shoulders above what the other restaurants buffet had to offered. It's worth visiting this restaurant again. However, fly in the ointment would be lack of greens in their salad bar. I understand that the restaurant serves mainly Asian cuisine, but I hope that the restaurant would consider the popularity of healthy eating and introduce more greens to the salad bar. That would attract more customers.

Stayed here once before. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. They can handle pretty much any request. Very good breakfast, lots of choice of food types suitable for whatever your needs are

I would readily recommend the Rose Veranda for high tea or lunch anytime. The spread may lose to some other hotels in terms of variety but they more than make it up with the superb quality of food. Service is top notch too.
Samuel Tan (02/05/2017 15:38)
The ballrooms are very nice. Service is top notch. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, but it remains one of the most exclusive and refined wedding and event venues in Singapore.
Saon Baidya (01/05/2017 12:36)
Stayed for 4 days during my last family holiday trip to Singapore. Excellent hotel with great facilities, staffs are very friendly and the room service is top notch. Buffet breakfast has an extravagant wide variety of choices. The pool is just lovely to have nice fun time with whole family. Very convenient location as well; stones throw from Orchard rd shops. Highly recommended.

They have one of the best buffet spread I had. Their mutton was really well done
Adam Barnes (12/04/2017 13:33)
Fantastic place!! However everything seems over way over priced!! The rooms in the garden ward were good but not great. The line buffet was the best experience. The food was top shelf. Definetely worth a try once in a lifetime.

First impression...Very very nice hotel. Staff is wonderful and everything works very well.

Went to a Chinese wedding at the ballroom. Worst wedding food I've ever tasted. With the exception of the opening dish, the rest are simply tasteless.
The carpark is also a pain. It was raining and I discovered there are two basement car parks. In order to get to my car I had to get myself wet even though my car is parked at one of the hotel's indoor car parks.

Beautiful hotel and excellent customer service. Highly suggest having a drink in the lobby and relaxing

This is place where they really focus on being the definition of a hotel: attentive service, clean, comfortable rooms, and great layout of the place. Had my wedding there.
Flavia Destro (18/01/2017 14:58)
Friendly, personal service, lovely amenities. The private garden was a lovely surprise with my own hammock.
The Waterfall restaurant is delicious.

Spacious rooms. Clean and well maintained. Attentive staff, maybe a bit too attentive. Server cleared my plate and utensils so had to get new one each time. Went back to buffet line and clean utensils were gone.

A legendary institution.
Honestly, you don't stay there for the great food options. In my opinion, there are much better, value-for-money options nearby. But you stay at the Shangri-la because you want to experience a piece of local hospitality history.
Gemuketh LittleFeet (20/08/2016 10:29)
A one time best business hotel in Asia, the Shangri-La hotel has lost none of its charm and under stated elegance through the years and has held it's own amidst the stiff competition from the newer marquee name brands that have arrived to roost in Singapore. While not as conveniently located, it's setting amongst the lush carefully curated greenery makes a visit to the hotel worth that little extra effort. This is especially true if It is for the afternoon high tea at the Rose Veranda. While other teas make do with the usual slew of tea selections and the familiar assortment of finger sandwiches and pastries, the Rose Veranda goes with a more is more approach with a dizzying array of teas that merits it's own leather bound tome of a menu and a spread of savory and sweet delicacies that represents a range of cuisines from japanese sushi/sashimi, italian pastas, english roasts, peranakan kuehs to local favorites like laksa. There is a little something for everyone. Service is polite and unobstrusive albeit a little slow. The space is bright, airy, and relaxing making it so easy to just linger and savor the tea, food, and ambiance.
John De Lany (19/08/2016 16:39)
I had a very nice savory tea service at the hotels Rose Veranda. Included with the tea was a very complete buffet with Asian and European treats. The setting is very pretty and the service is unobtrusive and impeccable.

We were absolutely amazed by the hotel, stayed in the garden wing for the first leg of our honeymoon. Staff were so friendly and helpful, room was great, very clean. Can't think of anything which would improve it. The location is a little out of the main shopping street, however it is an easy walk, or there are free shuttle busses. Thank you for making our stay special. We will definitely be back!
Shirley The musfaery (03/07/2016 14:21)
We just had a very lovely dinner buffet at Shangri-la, The Line restaurant. We came early, got ourselves our favourite table, and we went straight for the seafood section. My hot favourite were the succulent oysters!
I polished off my meal with a variety of cheeses with crusty baguette. My usual favourite Stilton bluecheese gave way to Beaufort which had a delectable aftertaste.
For those who are meat or sashimi lovers, look to the roast and Japanese sections for your fill. If you still crave for more, you won't be disappointed by the wide selection of cuisine at the buffet dinner. Wine lovers can opt for free flow of drinks for an additional fee. Booking was made online with a 15% discount thrown in. Dont forget to ask for a complimentary parking coupon. I am still rubbing my tummy with glee. 😉 Ciao for now!
Psst! If it is your birthday, let the restaurant know. You will get a free cake with a birthday song thrown in for good measure. 😃

Superb experience, wonderful staff, lovely hotel with great facilities and very good breakfast.
Emely PAsumbal (05/06/2016 13:06)
Stayed there for 3 nights in Feb 2015. Like other Shangri-la experiences (although just my first outside the Philippines), it didn't disappoint- from the buffet breakfast, to the luxe bathroom with matching premium toiletries and complimentary coffee and tea. My son was so relieved that wifi was free and internet connection was fast. I love the alcove seating near the huge glass window that provides me a good view of the green neighborhood and neat row of buildings next to the hotel.
Mohit Vatsa (03/06/2016 16:25)
Good hotel. Very green and peaceful. Close to Orchard road, but in quiet neighbourhood. Best part of the hotel is swimming pool and lobby. Property is getting old and you can see it in the rooms. Service is ok (especially room service). Biggest negative is location. It's quite a distance away from Marina Bay Area attractions, Club street, Boat quay area.

Shangri-La Singapore, the best of living is well known everywhere in the world. From facilities up to the customer service qualities brought a satisfaction to the people with beautiful surrounding views and greater location.
