Very old school dim sum restaurant. Food has been really good. The ambience is reminiscent of hongkong with their pushcart services. Wide food options which ensure that you will not leave this place on an empty stomach

Average food, prices also average. A lot of better quality dim sum joints for the price. Just nice seeing an old school place like this one.

The queue was very fast for pax of 2. The selection of food is quite small. But service is good. Most of the staff are very polite! Will come
Back again!

Staff very knowledgeable service up to the standard. Foods very good especially the crabs n duck. Price very reasonable n place well kept. Clean n nice. Have been to the said restaurant for many times with friends n family n when mentioned Red Star all are happy to be there.

Disappointing experience comparing to what Red Star was before. Nowadays the food seemed like they're manufactured from a factory than being hand made from within. Quality is definitely average and no different from what you can order from a coffee shop.
The servers don't speak Cantonese and the place has lost the feel of a typical dim sum house.
You used to get the cart pushers shouting their food so patrons can order and that was part of the dim sum experience and authenticity.
They need to revert back to its roots and bring back the good old days of typical dim sum glory, similar to how Hong Kong dim sum house operates.

Loving every bit of this place!
Red Star has become a gathering place for my group of friends for the past year now, after hearing recommendations online. Food is tasty, affordable and waiting time is reasonably okay.
Very unique location as well, tucked nicely at the top floor of a HDB block.
I don't see a reason why not to recommend this. Definitely one of the better and cheaper dim sum options in Singapore.

Relatively quick response time for getting a seat despite the queue. Food is acceptable. Great place to experience the typical Chinese restaurant’s atmosphere with dim sum carts being pushed around. Might have to walk around to look for carts as the frequency of carts passing by is way too low.

old school dim sum place with dated decor. staff with push carts walk around so sometimes you need to hunt for the more popular items. food is worth the wait even when the queues are long. restaurant is huge. remember dim sum is only available in the mornings

Love it awsome food and service is great. It helps if you are with someone that speaks Chinese. my favourite is dim sum it finishes at 3pm. Staff are always mindful and willing to help. It's hard to find and not sign posted. Top floor it's on level 7 if the carpark.

Loved this place. Felt super local and authentic. Great staple dim sum selections. Appreciated that many of the push cart operators were sweet old aunties. Interesting too that it’s located on the 7th floor of a car park facility.

Loved this place! My wife and her parents dined her decades ago. Love the elderly ladies going around with food trolleys and enjoy the quaint interior design. Time stood still but the dim sum is ever so great. Loved in particular the mango pudding at the end and their siew mai! Surely going again with my in-laws soon!!

An old school dimsum push card place, we loved the wide variety of food here at Red Star! The place was packed with lots of customers and we surely loved the crowded, heartland vibes. Meanwhile, some items were pretty salty and not exactly worth the calories. Go for the century egg porridge, sesame paste and steamed cake!

One of the last authentic Chinese Dim Sum resturant where food is delivered in push carts for customers to pick and choose. Tasty and good value. Every table is covered with a table cloth and they change it with a clean piece for every change of customer. This place still retain the push cart trolley where food gets marketed to customers. Its little things like these that helps retain the authentic experience.

Lesser crowd than the heydays. Still the classic push cart dim sum plus roast meat etc. Lovely place

Best Cantonese food at affordable pricing. Spacious area which are a comfort to dine in
Y Yap (28/07/2017 13:55)
Very old school Chinese dim sum. Still served in trollies. Quality is average but definitely worth a visit
William Ku (21/07/2017 05:32)
Nice ambience with the pushcarts. Food quality is ok but not commensurate with its price (slightly on the high side)
Ashley Teo (29/06/2017 12:27)
Experience a different kind of food service here! Dimsums are pushed around the restaurant on carts which you don't see in other restaurants

Came here because many of my friends said that it's good. Went on a Sunday Morning, the queue was quite long. waited around 15mins to get a table. Just 2 of us, but we got a table for ourself. Had some of their dim sum. I would say it's not bad. Paper Wrap Chicken is nice. Porridge is nice. The rest of the items were pretty average to me. The banana prawn and mango salad is disappointing. The bill came up to around 70+ which is quite expensive. However, their service charge was only 5%. Service was okay I guess. Probably won't come back again here soon due to poor accessibility, long queue, over rated food. The overall ambience is great tho.

Dark and gloomy with bad service. Food quality is just average

This place the waiteress who is serving my table, her body language is like not happy serving us. Our drinks is not top up during the dinner when all of us are drinking chinese tea. What makes my dinner a little better is another waiter who serve my table food, he is very helpful to us when we asked for rice and is serving us happily. For me the food is nice just that the service staff spoil my dinner just 1 server
Dean Cheong (09/04/2017 13:22)
Food is not as good as it used to be but the ambience is old school, pushcarts are a fun fad
Wayne Ong (16/03/2017 15:15)
Standards have dropped but I still come here for the porridge. Very traditional dim sum done right. Can be pricey as compared to the newer places. But worth a visit to this heritage restaurant.
Matthias C (23/02/2017 17:33)
Classic, traditional Cantonese dim sum cuisine. Visit for the food, not the service. Oh, and the deco, it brings you back to the 80s!

Bad choice for reunion dinner during Lunar New Year period. Dishes can be served as late as 30 minutes apart. Took more than 3.5 hours to finish dinner!
TuckWah Wan (11/01/2017 14:09)
The standard of dim sum just seems to be dropping each & every time i'm here over the years. Which means this will definately be my last time visiting this place.
Loved e old school feeling of this place, however with the abundance of above average dim sum places available all over Sg, the effort to make my way down to Red Star is simply not worth it for its: Below avg service, very average dim sum & certain unpleasant (bordering rude) trolley dolly's
Bye Red Star, its been a nice memory visiting you thru the decades...

Good traditional Cantonese "tim sum" and surprisingly good "sup kum hor fun" at affordable prices
Adam Tan (06/10/2016 11:44)
Old school feel, with a feel of Hong Kong style dim sum place. Might be the last restaurant with cards going from table to table serving dim sum. Good experience for the fun of it, but food wise it's just moderate.
Zoe Chen (01/10/2016 19:30)
Old school dimsum place where you can order from the various dimsum trolleys being pushed around. The dimsum isn't amazing, I'd stick to the usual roasted meats, char siew sou, char siew bao, har gao, fried beancurd rolls and chee cheong fun.
Phil Bull (21/09/2016 10:39)
Traditional dimsum restaurant. Decor is dated but just adds to the charm. Service is okay, they serve most dishes still via the old trolleys.
My Chinese is pretty basic so this helps me when when ordering to see the dishes
SIM IRIS (12/09/2016 03:56)
First and last time. Cui to the max. Long queue. Low quality food. Ca get better char siew at food court
KenHwee Tan (23/08/2016 10:09)
Decent place for old-style (think 1970s!) dimsum, on push-cart trolleys within the restaurant. Not *great* food, but credible, and atmospheric. Be prepared to queue on weekends, but should be ok on weekdays at lunch-time.
teggae Yuan (24/07/2016 06:59)
First time and last time. As a Cantonese, I hv never had a such a horrible dim sum before. It's tradition in way of serving with trolley, but the taste of dim sum is just so terrible. WILL NEVER AGAIN.

The black jelly is called guilingao.
According to wikipedia :
Guilingao is a jelly-like Chinese medicine. ... Commercially available guīlínggāo sold as a dessert..., share the same herbal additives as the medicine and are similarly marketed as being good for skin complexion when ingested.
David Wu (27/05/2016 04:24)
One of the top best dim sim in Singapore. In fact it is the oldest in singapore!
Adeline Law (20/05/2016 10:12)
Food is traditional yummy. If you love a good Cantonese style dim sum, this is the place to be. Very good service except a little forgetful aunties when the place is pack.
Li Alex (31/01/2016 04:13)
In a space of 2 years, the food standard dropped tremendously..Not to mention the poor service rendered..
I can't even start to describe how bad all the items were. Even hot Favourite like Har Kow, Siew Mai were terrible..!!
Pls exercise caution...
Yeow Jianhao (21/01/2016 12:44)
Old school dimsum place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Dinner time they serve Chinese main courses, which is not bad either. The dimsum is served in old-school trolleys like how they do it in Hongkong, so that may appeal to some. Taste wise it's pretty decent; nothing too fantastic, but sufficiently decent. Centrally located, pretty huge place, and can get pretty crowded especially on weekends.
