This used to be a good place for Indian food.
The food quality has reduced these days, particularly the chat items (which used to be very good before). It seems they are heavily understaffed these days as the service was slower.

So far experience was nice. However during latest visit noticed the change of staff. Lack of hospitality is noticeable and also quality is not like it used to be. One of the staff was quiet rude that made us feel UN-welcome to this place.

Good place to enjoy north indian food. Must try Mysore Dosa.
If not health conscious, order Chole Bhature.

Food is good. But the location is confusing. A first timer can always get confused here.
Babu Geevarathnam (17/04/2018 07:54)
It is nice but not much of variety

Raj is an Indian vegetarian restaurant. This review is intended for Chinese friends. Indian friends may also check out if you are interested in how other culture felt about your vegetarian cuisine.
Chinese vegetarian is usually very light and healthy. We use toufu and eggplant to mimic the taste of meat. But it is not the case for Indian vegetarian. Indian vegetarian use a ton of cheese and sauces. I do not think they are healthy at all (it's 100% vegetarian though). They are extremely strong-tasting. So just a warning to my fellow Chinese friend who might have the wrong expectation just like what I did.
But other than that it is very interesting to experience different culture.

For first timers.. this is really a good place to eat North Indian food. Prefer dinner times as lunch hour is usually crowded. Poor ambience. Friendly but slow service. Overly priced. Try vegetable biryani.. that’s worth the money!

One of the better Indian vegetarian restaurants in Singapore. It's great that a Jain menu is available for those who requires it.
Thomas Srinivasan (07/02/2018 10:15)
Good for North Indian Vegetarian and Jain food. Lunch time is usually crowded. Staff need to be more agile in attending, they are friendly though.
Arun Sudarsan (12/11/2017 10:55)
On the more expensive side. Food was good. I especially liked the chole bhature. That was worth the money. Not a fan of the tomato soup or the samosa there. The menu offers Vegan / Gluten Free and other options. However, the waiters seem to be clueless about what they mean.

Someone wrote north indian restaurant in his review which is wrong. It's a South Indian vegetarian restaurant but you do get some North Indian dishes like chhole bhature, chat papdi etc. Nice place. Ok food.
John Muzi (05/11/2017 13:49)
Our first time to this restaurant. There is good Indian food, both north and South Indian food. Good taste, reasonable price.
kolluri aashish (15/09/2017 14:12)
One of the best places in Singapore for North Indian cuisine. The staff was very polite and it is not very crowded too. The service was prompt and they also charge decently for it. Overall it can be a place you are looking for the night.

Very pricey... We went there esp to eat dosa and we're disappointed, portion size is too little and chutney sambar not that great.. Quantity also less.Had samosa chat which was very nice but still pricey. Better to avoid if u r looking for good south Indian tiffin varieties... Little Indian has much better and more economical places for the same. I feel.
Mahaveer U (29/08/2017 16:35)
Good for vegetarians. Honestly this restaurant has good sambar (a South Indian curry) taste

Went for lunch - called in to reserve seats. Were told no reservations accepted but there would be seating. Fair enough. It was packed when we arrived. Irritating but understandable.
Stood at the entrance and tried to ask staff what we needed to do to secure a table. Ignored by 3 staff: one avoided any eye contact and acted as if he could not hear us, the second referred us to a person who was filling glasses of water who in turn said he didn't know and the third just smiled helplessly! Upsetting but again understandable as these were junior staff.
Went to the cashier who said we need to wait and find a table when it got vacant. Just wasn't interested to tell what the process was to seat waiting customers. Pathetic and not acceptable.
Rather than waste any further time we went across the road to Pepperoni and enjoyed a brilliant Italian lunch.
Raj was a service disaster. In case one wants to still go, suggest you find a table first and then see if you can catch the eye of the harried and obviously disinterested service staff. All the best!

Very good food but very poor service and always short of staff... and on top off that very rude staff!!
Serene Chng (03/07/2017 07:50)
The food great. Although service can be slow during peak periods.

Best place in biopolis for pure vegetarian indian restaurent. Lot of options to try. Food is authentic but pricey. Open on weekends too..
Ankesh Khandelwal (14/06/2017 04:30)
One of the restaurants which has good options for North and south Indian cuisines with quality taste. The menu is quite wide and the food is yummy as well. Price wise it's on the higher side.
Sankar Balasubramanian (27/05/2017 07:14)
North Indian dish's are good. Generally the wait time is more than normal. Hospitality is also not good.
Deema Yanni Ma'at (18/04/2017 08:46)
Place is better than the syed alwi road
Prem Paul (04/04/2017 04:21)
Look no further than Raj, if you want to treat yourself to authentic and delicious south Indian cuisine - especially the dosas!
Ravi Vydianathan (21/03/2017 23:49)
Great place for vegetarians! Consistent taste and food quality.
Harish Vangala (20/03/2017 07:06)
One good Indian restaurant. Dosa for its chutney and Kachori for its fulfilling chat-masala tasted the best in my first visit.
Aditya Kumar Praharaj (12/03/2017 17:39)
Nice view. Decent food. Great people. Need any more excuses?
Manmeet Nagar (12/02/2017 01:57)
nice place bt a bit costly
Debabrata Biswas (04/01/2017 11:23)
Vegetarian restaurant for Indian dishes. The best are the Indian snacks, specially away from home. The rest of the menu not so good considering the price.
Sandeep Sen (27/12/2016 14:41)
This is normally our go to place for veg food. Dosas were as good as before but the chat and Pani Puri came short of expectations.
Patrick Chow (24/12/2016 06:35)
Food is rich and portion is generous. Spices used are rather weak, catered more to non-Indian taste.
Sanjeev Gupta (20/09/2016 14:54)
Pure Vegetarian, mostly South Indian cuisine. Menu clearly marks Vegan, Gluten-free, and No-Onion-No-Garlic items.
Ana-Marija Spajic (24/09/2016 14:48)
I ordered a vegan dish which arrived full of cream. Why is there cream in a dairy free dish? I'm intolerant to dairy so now I get to spend the rest of my evening feeling sick. Two stars because I've eaten dosai there before (not curries) and the dosai was good.
Ramesh Munamarty (10/09/2016 22:21)
I had an horrible experience with this restaurant. The special rava masala dosa that ordered was severely burnt and the manager was conning me to say that it was black Sesame seeds and peppers. The staff was rude!
Ranjitha P (22/08/2016 05:46)
Try the baby corn masala! yumm.. Wish they add some indo-chinese items too.
Prema Prasad (20/06/2016 13:10)
very good and tasty. soft and crispy naan and the paneer makhanwalla is very good
Aik Meng Ang (21/05/2016 02:25)
Food is tasty. Portions seem small but filling
Neeraj Pattani (16/02/2016 18:02)
Great vegetarian place for both North Indian and South Indian food. Food is delicious, with many options to choose from including unique set meals every day. My personal favorite here is paneer biryani. Generous portions served. My only complaint with this place would be their lack of staff, especially during busy lunch hours. Service can become really slow as this is a really popular lunch place. Go early around 11.30pm if you want a good spot and a decently fast service.
John Ang (25/01/2016 01:09)
Authentic Northen Indian Food. The salted lassi is really good, and so are the curries. They're open at night in Biopolis and it's usually not crowded, so no need to make reservations.
Jeffrey Goh (11/12/2015 11:15)
Good Indian (ovo-lacto) vegetarian options here. Probably the best and most creative. Service quality is variable.
