After we left a hotel cafe in the vicinity which doesn't serve breakfast after 10am. Family and I hopped over to a nearby Pies & Coffee Cafe for a hearty brunch. Must try their Big Breakfast and Flat White. You'll luv it !
While food was great, some of the chairs need to be cleaned though. Found some food crumbs on some chairs where the staff have missed them while cleaning the tables after customers left the cafe.

Cosy place to hang-out, Great coffee, I appreciate that extra special thoughtfulness that comes with your order no matter how small. It's just crowded with students most of the time.

Ambience is nice. But i was told there was no milkshakes available. Because it had run out of stock. This was 1pm in the afternoon. Seems kinda weird that they can out of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry milkshakes in the middle of the afternoon

Visited on a weekday afternoon. Many seats available, more outside. Selection of food include savoury pies, baked rice, rigatoni, sandwiches and all day breakfasts. We ordered a chicken cheddar pie with mash + salad, and a baked chicken rigatoni. Both were wonderful and delicious. The rigatoni was very cheesy with chunks of chicken. Servings are quite big, can opt to share or it might be too much. Also ordered the iced lemonade cooler - lychee elderflower, this was incredibly refreshing! A good choice on a hot day. Overall, a nice quiet spot to just hang with friends.

One of my favourite hangout place.
Quiet and relaxing. Away from the crowd.
The dessert is not too bad too! Try the raspberry cheese cake!

Pies are good, but they need to improve on their speed in serving the food during lunchtime.

A small but very nice cafe. It has some very good/unique choices of cakes and sweets. The drinks are also good.

A set gets you a pie, mash and salad. Pretty decent.

Lovely quiet place for breakfast, a date with a book or/and to sneak in some work at the same time (hooray to free wifi)!

Tried the signature Pies and Coffee. Pies were cold and mediocre. The mashed potatoes on the side was the highlight of the dish. Coffee was passable. Atmosphere whilst located at the bottom of a beautiful waterfall facade, is littered with bird and lizard poop.

First and foremost, the location is hard to find. Took me a while to finally figure out where it is, after asking someone working in a different cafe in the same vicinity.
Anyway, I have recently redeemed 2 Starhub vouchers for "Pies & Coffees". What a world of difference, in terms of the service, between the branch in Alexandra Retail Centre and the one in Rochester Mall. The Filipino male staff in Alexandra is obviously well trained in their customer service skills. He explained to me the different options I can get with my voucher; Put in the right price and even put in some plastic culteries with my takeaway order. I would definitely go back to that same store. It is definitely little things like that which made the customers feel the worth of time and money to dine with the cafe.
On the other hand, the staff at Rochester Mall seems much younger and obviously local. Based on the looks on their age, they could be temporary staff, or even maybe 'O' or 'A' level school leavers, waiting for their admission their into tertiary educations. The one at the cashier counter is especially untrained and not very polite. She didn't explain to me much about the different options I can get with my voucher. On top of that, she even charged me the full amount just for the pie alone, even though I had no mash potatoes and salad with my order. I corrected her on the spot and she sheepishly did the correction. In the end, the staff did not even include any plastic culteries for my takeaway order.
If both branches are going to pay the same amount of salary to hire their staff, please hire someone well trained, more experienced and above all, have a much better polite customer service policy. Anyone who is stepping into your store to purchase food and beverages (regardless of whether they are using any vouchers or not), they are still paying for the food and the service that comes with it, If the policy is to charge their customers for any service charges, please ensure that they deliver a proper customer service too!!
PS, I do enjoy the quality of the pies, so I will be back for more, but definitely not from the Rochester Mall outlet. Honestly, it is just not worth my effort and money to locate such a secluded location with such poor customer service policy!

Unusual fusion. Dishes like Wagyu Beef Rendang Pie served with fresh salad. Average cost around $20-25/pax for main course drink & dessert. Toilet is a walk across the road, how quaint. Near Buona Vista MRT. Weekday parking nearby seems sufficient.
