Old. Shopping center. Lots of shops catering to the Burmese community

Mingalaba. Used to work here everyday, it brings back a lot of memories. You only get Burmese food here, love it or hate it. I always eat the Mohingarr and will spam the coriander (yums) @ Mother's House (located at B1 beside the Burmese vegetarian restaurant), day in day out when I worked there. I still have fond memories because whenever I am there I don't have to speak a word, the lady would just serve up a spicy bowl of mohingar for me cos she remembers me (bperhaps sick of me ordering the same thing everyday hahahaha). At one point I got sick and tired of Burmese food I just don't feel like eating anymore. But now I miss Burmese Food and its distinct taste. It's been almost 2 years, will be back for Burmese Food soon! Come here for great taste and selection of Burmese food, nonetheless!👏👏

Located behind the peninsula hotel. Mens tailors , new and second hand camera shops, shoes (but limited with larger sizes), and music stores, including LPs. Very old, run down. Only useful to go if you're interested in these types of shops.

Very old shopping center. Nothing visually appealing. But some of the shops are specialized in certain goods. For example cameras, and have detailed knowledge on the subject matter. As a shopping center, nothing special and needs a renovation.

A Place to eat Burmese foods ... and travel agencies to travel to Myanmar...
Food varies from typical home dishes to diverse local native authentic dishes ...
My recommendation would be Inn Lay restaurant, 4waddy and Mandalay restaurant where you can get fresh Myanmar native local foods...
Try some you will love it ...

Right in the heart of the city, this shopping mall has evolved into a niche market for certain customers. Ventilation needs to be improved.

Place is getting old. However, goods are affordable here and inexpensive.

Nostalgic shopping. Used to be The main Bata shop. Nowadays heaven for bargain hunting. Breathtaking views from top floors. Near Padang the green of the city. Friendly cosy comfy ambience.

Old style, dull, but has a couple of useful/good stores.

This is one of the oldest malls in Singapore. The ground floor has a horrible stench. There are the usual shops and so on including a food court in the basement. Poor signage and downbeat lighting. It does have a number of stores selling Cameras and Photography equipment that are well stocked, but otherwise, there's a definite sense that this mall has seen better days.

A pretty aged mall, stalls within are a unique sight compared to those within newer malls which are big, bright and crowded. House a few hair salons, musical instruments stores and others. Located right next to Funan Digital IT mall.

Myanmar premium beer is now available at Peninsula Plaza #01-40.

Peninsula plaza is where all types of Myanmar shops are located. From groceries to textiles, hairdressers to airticket agents and remittance services, you can get anything you want from Myanmar, even flowers to offer Buddha.
It's the only place where anyone can get all sorts of local delights.

You must be a little desperate to come here...
Offers cheap exercise clothing, tailored suits, custom made trophies and plaques, wedding invitation card printing and cheap camera accessories & secondhand lenses.
Or you really want to see what shopping in Singapore feels like back in the 1980's...
Peter Lamm (17/04/2016 07:32)
Peninsular Plaza is one of the oldest in the island and a thriving complex for offices, businesses, shops and dining, especially for legal services, photographic equipment and services, Myanmar-related businesses and foods. It is pedestrian during the week when mainly office workers and a sprinkling of tourists come here for shopping and dining.
But it is on weekends when this plaza comes alive as numerous small groups of younger women and men -- mainly Myanmar but also Philipino and Indonesian, gather here to socialize, mix and especially to picnic. The colours and style of Myanmar women with tightly fitted long bright print dresses are unmistakable and nearly every single one wears a smear of makeup paste on their cheeks.
Over the years shops here have acquired a bit of a reputation for sharp dealing (to be polite). I cannot definitively confirm but believe the prices here are roughly comparable to elsewhere and suggest they probably have high rents to pay. As usual buyer must beware, shop around and do compare.

A very old mall, useful for nothing more than buying old film and digital cameras. With quite a number of shops specialising in dealing used film and digital camera bodies and lenses, it is the go to place, besides the internet, for vintage lenses, film and film development equipment. Expect to see a premium of about 30% over identical items sold on the internet, but at least you can touch and examine the equipment before purchasing it. Some shops offer warranties even, albeit but for two weeks.

The most favorite place of Myanmar people in Singapore. You can have the original tastes of Myanmar foods and drinks. Best place for home sick person of Myanmar mother land. You can use your own mother language at all shops at there. Easy Rendezvous point for friends in weekends. Buying air tickets, transferring money to native land, job agency services ..etc can be done by helpful Myanmar people.
