I love the squid pasta at Pasta Brava, something I always order every time I was there. So I brought my sibling over for a birthday dinner celebration. However the quality of the regular dishes I used to order, were extremely bland and have no 'soul'. I was extremely disappointed upon the first taste but I continued eating and finished them out of respect for the chef.
Then a white tall waiter came over to ask for feedback on the pastas we ordered and so we thought to give honest answers that they were bland and asked if there was a change of hands by chance (a new chef). He was suddenly way too composed and replied a calm 'no', and he said in a subtle sarcastic manner 'but you finished the food?' At that moment, I thought it was very rude of him to pass that comment since he asked for our opinions. It was a special day for my sibling so I left it as that and foot the bill.
From such disappointment and disgust, I concluded that the dining experience in terms of the quality of customer service and food have dived way down too much as compared to many years before. For the prices we paid, food are not worth it. Definitely will not head back there.

Revised Rating from 2 to 4:
Follow-up by the restaurant was respectful and courteous. The restaurant has been popular all these years since they started operating in the area. The food is definitely worth your money and gives you an authentic Italian experience.
The food is pretty good however the experience was wrecked when the middle-aged waiter, acted rudely to me and my friends by being condesendingly throwing the menu on my plate and snobbishly caring not to explain clearly or patiently to my friends when asked if birthday cake can be kept in the restaurant while we dine there. All in all the restaurant's decor is welcoming and food is hearty but not so when you have a thoughtless and mean waiter.

Do make sure to make booking 1st! I got rejected once during dinner time because the restaurant was fully booked.
Kind of a "family owned restaurant" feel. We got served by a cute little girl once! Pasta is tasty. It should be. Its written on their signboard. Can be a bit pricey but the overall experience was not bad. Some service staff can be a little "stern". That is why i guess its a family business. Portion was just nice.

simple dishes done well! If you are looking for home-cooked styled Italian food, this is the place. Not flashy, not pretentious and very under-rated.

I love how you're given chalks to doodle on the table while waiting for your food. The food's decent and service could be better especially when it comes to refilling our glasses. Ambient is nice and gives off a romantic feel. An overall thumbs up from me.

Reading all the good reviews gave me high expectations when I came, which was why I was disappointed. My appetisers (scallops and calamari) came out so quick; probably 3 minutes, even before my bread did! That was very weird. However the pastas we got were better than average, and service was all prompt. You can give their molten lava cake a miss though, it seemed much more sweet than usual which when paired with the ice cream made it pretty overwhelming.

Came to this place after reading the great reviews, was looking forward to a nice Italian meal. Sat down & didn't have anyone come and see our table for over ten minutes, had to hail down a waiter and ask for a drinks menu and water. Waiter didn't even acknowledge us, just walked away, came back and dumped them on the table.
Water then had HAIR in it, lovely.
Food came along, was decidedly average. The lasagna was OK but was definitely dumped in a microwave after being made a week earlier. The other dish we had was too sweet (some pumpkin ravioli thing). The salad we ordered (WHICH WAS $16!!!!) was literally 5 pieces of lettuce, some onion and other random salad items that was eaten in like 5 fork servings. Absolute rip off.
Now i think about it our waiter didn't actually say a single word to us the entire time. Just nodded and huffed at everything we asked.
Whoever owns this place stops to living off the reputation of 20 years ago and step up their game.
I've been to McDonalds with better service than this place.

Pasta is ok, calamari was great, service is excellent. Staff saw I was pregnant and propped a cushion for the back of my seat. I appreciated that.

Place was cozy and homey. Service was good and food tasted homemade. We had the branzino and lamb ribs.

I thought the portions were small until I finished and realised they are just right. Try the lava cake!! Delicious

Excellent Italian food with generous serving. The staff were really friendly too and I always loved having the option to scribble and draw on the table while waiting for the food to arrive!

Excellent pasta dishes and spread. Value for money. Large portions atypical of italian restaurant.

The appetizer are better than the main dishes. Nice environment and reasonably priced for Italian meal.
Ordered the followings:
Appetizer:
duck liver - best dish i had that night, highly recommended
portobello mushroom - big portion but taste wise average
sauteed scallop - scallop itself is good, the sauce is good too but not impressive
main course:
squid ink pasta - find it too salty. Not as impressive as other reviews suggested, in fact I find it quite average.
vongole in bianco - find it too bland and the clams were sandy.
large tubes of pasta filled with minced lamb - it's just normal lasagna to me.
dessert:
chocolate lava cake - again, pretty average.

Great place for authentic Italian fare, personally loved the crab linguine! Lovely rustic ambiance and friendly staff. We met the owner and was very delighted to have spoken with such a wise and down to earth man! Will definitely be back! :)

Love the service here. Staff creates a very friendly and warm feel.
Good for dining, be it alone or with groups of friends. But you're advised to make reservations in advance to slowly enjoy your meal. Otherwise, you might have to finish your meals in a rush because they might try to fit you in between people's reservations.
Food is awesome! It's the third time I've been here and I'm still impressed. (=
Would strongly recommend their Ravioli! On normal days, I would prefer the pumpkin Ravioli over the spinach one. But I also enjoyed their June 2017 special pasta which has bacon fillings. Though my friends find it overwhelming if they've to eat the whole plate alone, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hope you'll enjoy your meal as well!

Was a wee bit disappointed after hearing so much about this place. Went for a slow weekday lunch. Ordered beef carpaccio and butter prawns as starters. I've had better carpaccio although the prawns were nice. Went with the bavette & lobster in a bisque sauce and the homemade stracci gamberi. The Stracci had a saffron peppercorn sauce which was really quite good. The lobster however tasted like it was frozen. Texture was all limp and soft and just not fresh at all. The bavette was one-dimensional and I could hardly make out the bisque under the tomato-heavy, almost puree-like sauce. Few hits and misses. Service a little uninspired.

Very authentic and delicious Italian pasta. The place gives a very Italian vibes and hospitality, with servers recommending wines that can pair with your food. They have rare wines too, for those wine connoisseur out there.

I must return! The pasta is cooked to perfection and the taste is superb. One of the best squid ink pasta I have tasted.
Stephan Wu (19/03/2017 10:15)
Definitely one of the best pasta place in town. The pasta sauce is really top notch (perfect balance of taste), just thought that the seafood pasta could be even better with higher quality seafood (the shrimp and crayfish both taste frozen). Overall, definitely worth a try!

It is the place where I enjoyed squid ink spaghetti for the first time and it is a place with my family and pleasant memories.

Pasta was tasty but 1 star for the crayfish in the pasta as I can taste that it was quickly defrosted... had the "fridge frost" taste.

Very decent pasta and the place has a homely and pleasant atmosphere. I had a birthday dinner and felt that the service put into helping us get the cake ready etc was pretty good. Would go back again.

Service was horrible. The lady Filipino manager (I believe) serving at the reception was absolutely unfriendly. We didn't make a reservation, but just wanted to ask if they have any free tables and she just rudely said "maybe, and I need my table back in one hour." But another set of westerners who are also walk in customers were treated very differently. Certainly not a pleasant experience. Food was ok. For this price range, I think it's relatively easy to find really good food. Definitely not a good place to be when you want to enjoy your dinner.

Went for lunch : lovely decor and homely atmosphere. Loved the menu cards and the wide choice of pastas and food on the menu.
Unfortunately, service was poor : food took a while to be served, servers attention seemed to be elsewhere. When we asked for the breads that are served while one waits, the server said the bread would be served with the food! Anyway, the food when it came was patchy : some pastas were mouthwateringly delicious and others were average. As an aside, the bread was rock hard and chewy-good thing it wasn't served earlier!!
Was disappointed with the overall experience: I can only imagine we are in a minority given the awards the restaurant has won.

One of the best pasta places in Singapore! Very authentic ambiance within and the service staff is top notched and excellent.

The food tastes awesome, especially the pasta. The ambience is really cosy, and they have chalk and paper to doodle while you wait. 😉

The pasta here is world class. The restaurant has a classic ambience however the decor could be regarded as dated.. The staff were attentive and friendly.
