Great place, fantastic concept. Get on a little bus train and have a guided tour, takes about half an hour and then go to an animal show. You can also walk round three routes, about 20 min each.
Yes the animals are in captivity but it is a fairly large space and if they want to hide they can so you may not see anything. The bats are worth a visit.
Word of advice, you buy the tickets at the zoo not the safari!

This includes the tram ride of 40 minutes in the safari & the creatures @ night show. 40 minutes ride through the dense green habitat which is maintained nicely with many animals you can spot through the ride.
The show is fantastic & the host makes it really interesting with lots of fun ending with some key messaging.
Some good restaurants around for your appetite around makes the evening a great experience.
Overall a good experience & a must have point for Singapore itinerary. 6

Night Safari at Singapore Zoo is amazing experience. They have various items to be watched and you can take the tram to experience the same. I saw some people walked too and walking would make better experience as well.
A guide would be in the tram and he/she would explain about all the important things about the animals you see there. All of these animals live in free areas, not in smaller cages.
There is a restaurant inside the zoo and you can arrange your dinner as well. Once completed the safari, do not forget to buy a souvenir from the souvenir shops as well

A very unique experience!! Seeing the animals are night is so different. I recommend the tram ride, you get so close to some of them...in touching distance, but do Not touch! Walking in the trails after is quite creepy with all the noises but amazing!! Definitely a must if your in Singapore. (Sorry about the quality of them photos, much better in person)

Seems to be slightly overrated place. This is a unique concept but they just take you on a tram ride in a zoo it is not like safari. The variety of animals available here is good you can also take a walk on some paths. The creatures of the dark show is okay where they show you the talent of some animals. The expectations of people are high here but don't expect much here. But a nice concept roaming around the zoo in night with lights on animals. Take care of time if you want to walk around then visit here with appropriate time so you can roam and see the animals from near on foot instead of the tram ride.

The kids love this! tram rides with animals sightseeing... On cool night... what more can they ask for... the show is interesting too and food and snacks available to fill your empty stomach after a night visit is perfect.
the fire show at the entrance is also a bonus after the tour before going home.

Epic! One of the highlights of visiting Singapore and a very unique way to see the various animals.
The tram ride is informative and fun, though it is extremely hard to get decent photos as the tram is constantly moving and your photos are likely to be blurry.
Ensure that once the tram ride is over that you go back out and explore on foot; there’s plenty more to be found and explored and you can get even closer to many of the animals.
Allow a good number of hours to do it properly!

Great night safari. Went to the 815 entrance in middle of week so no crowds easy to walk around. Hours right onto a Tram and saw cool stuff. At the end walked right into the last showing off night time show at 930. Definitely make sure you catch the show. Them walked the trails and saw more animals. Very cool to see the animals at night n much more active them seeing animals during the day at a regular zoo. There were only two or three animals we couldn't see that were hiding. Well worth the trip.
Fann S (27/03/2018 09:31)
I didn’t expect the animals to be so active at night at the Night Safari, much more than the animals in the regular Singapore Zoo which operates in the day.
It also felt a lot of fun trying to spot the animals which may be hiding from plain sight.
We didn’t have a problem with bugs and it was very pleasant in the evening cool.
Definitely go on the tram ride which is different from what it used to be. Now, all tram rides from station 1 and it’s about 40 minutes long.

The night Safari was great! An experience like no other. The show was a lot of fun and really informative. It was great to see the nocturnal animals very active and running around. The otters were great. Would highly recommend getting a tram pass included as you are able to see some animals you can't see well by foot. The night Safari is a little bit more strenuous by foot than the zoo, so make sure you are well rested if you've spent the day at the zoo! Overall a great experience and would highly recommend to everyone.

Never ever try to cover this with zoo! We made that mistake not understanding the climate and the humidity can take toil on us and we were very tiered by night and sleepy. Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience. Volunteers usually guided us. It was nice to watch/observe animals in the night.

My husband and I came here for the night safari and didn’t know what to expect but we had such a great time! It was so cool to see the animals active at night up close and personal. The team takes you through different areas but you can also go through the walking trails.
We loved our experience there. You can also purchase a bundle pass for the other parts of the zoo.
Hans Wu (07/11/2017 14:57)
An amazing experience. Been to many zoos but not at night. Get to see some animals you don't usually see active during the day. 80% of tropical animals are nocturnal. The shows are great too. Don't miss the fire show, the Creatures of the Night show, or the tram ride. Great night!

Night safari at Singapore is a unique experience. Must book early and reach the park with time margin in hand. There are two options, one to trek the other to ride their bus. Animals are in open enclosures. Guide's commentary in English is good. Must have a good night shoot camera with high speed filming. The park has good curio stores and there's a performance by flame artists.
Tarun srivastava (28/10/2017 01:39)
This one of the highlights of the Singapore trip. An amazing first of a kind experience. It started with the superb Thumbuakar fire performance. We then took the 7.30 show of creatures of the night and then went on to explore a couple of trails on foot, which was an amazing experience. You feel part of the jungle with a rush of blood. Saw the flying squirrel in action which made it all worthwhile. At last we took the team ride, which is very detailed and covers most of the animals. Overall an amazing and unforgettable trip.

The night Safari is a unique experience with the person travelling with a group in arrange through man made forest. The ride starts from 7:15 every day. You can take online pass in Advance . The animals are kept in captive and only few non harming ones are let loose. They also have 4 walking trails.
Bernardo Salas (04/09/2017 09:57)
Great place with a lot of different animals to see. The fact that the experience occurs at night makes this place really fun and interesting. Only downside is the rides to the trams. They are long and its probably faster to just walk the trails. Unfortunately, one section of the park does not have trails (or if there are, it wasn't very apparent from the map).
vidhu vid (20/08/2017 10:36)
Interesting place. Host for the show was good.
However, more thought could be given to managing the entry into the park. Currently it's a long wait to enter the park and once you are in, it's another long queue for the tram.
Pretty exhausted before we could catch a glimpse of the first animal.
Would be helpful for people if there were notices on the website to mention that the early entry timings are usually sold out pretty quickly.
Vrushni Muthukumar (14/08/2017 08:38)
It is a great experience to catch all the animals there in the open (including lions and elephants). The coach in each tram keeps explaining about all the animals. Walking trails is highly recommended to have an even better experience. The fire dance near the entrance was quite a show.

Night Safari is a must and Kids love it, even if you have seen dozens of Zoo's around the world!
Over the course of more than 10 year that I've lived in Singapore I brought just about every visitor from Europe to the Night Safari (even if there are many well kept Zoo's in i.e. Switzerland) but the Night Safari and the show (check the schedule right at the entrance to make sure you don't miss the fun filled event) are so different and great attraction. Spend the money to take the train ride across the Night Safari "Zoo" and come very close to animals feeding next to you. A MUST for families with kids. They will be excited about the mix of darkness and animals and adventure.
Nicola Faulkner (09/07/2017 01:24)
Amazing seeing animals in their environment at night. Soft lighting and food placement allows you to see most of the animals with ease. It opens at 7:15, but queues to enter start forming at about 6:30. We skipped the show and opted to head for the tram first then walk the trails. We could have caught the last show but the 4 year old was quite tired.
Andrew Martini (17/06/2017 22:19)
Interesting concept, but slightly overrated. Definitely take the tram ride first before you decide if you want to continue walking through the park. Walking in the dark on dimly-lit paths was a cool experience, but I know many others will not share in that sentiment. Overall, the low lighting made it difficult to see many of the nocturnal animals at all. I think this is a great idea in theory, but perhaps not in execution. Don't plan a trip to this after a day at the zoo. There's a 90-minute gap between the closing of the zoo and the opening of the Night Safari where all you have to do is buy souvenirs and eat food from the food court. Despite the long trek to this location from the downtown area, I would still recommend doing this on a separate evening if at all.
Kevin Wong (10/06/2017 19:06)
I used to think the Night Safari was so much cooler, but the hype has died down for me. The main difference is that you get to walk through the zoo at night. The show is pretty lame, and the enjoyment of the tram ride is dependent on timing and your tour guide.
The price is pretty steep for essentially a nighttime visit to the zoo. For first timers though, it's certainly worth a visit though.
ferdinand molijon (06/05/2017 09:55)
This was a first for me on a safari, so it was very memorable and informative. The queue for the lines are long but its worth the wait. The Creatures of the Night show is even more enjoyable. Just don't go there on a Wednesday, coz you'll be missing the fire dance show.
Paul Smith (04/05/2017 07:45)
IMPORTANT: If at all possible, delay watching the 'Creatures of the Night' show until at least 2130 (details below).
We had a mixed time at our Night Safari experience.
We started off with a surprisingly good rotisserie chicken and veggie lasagna dinner - surprising because it was one of the best meals I've ever had at a large tourist attraction (and it was also reasonably priced).
After dinner, and while walking to the entrance (restaurants are located outside the main gate), we were fortunate to meet a zoo keeper holding a 'small' python for the kids to pat - they were enthralled.
And then we entered the park!
Having young kids, we wanted to do the 1930 show, but the auditorium was already full. Management could encourage restaurant patronage by giving some form of show priority for those eating at the onsite venues, or simply expand the booking system to allow visitors a show time selection.
Plan B: Off to the tram tour. And it was huge - the departure interval between trams was way too long with so many people waiting to board. However, once we finally boarded, all of us enjoyed the actual tour and animal sights.
Hopping off the tram, we went straight to the line for the 2030 show, and managed to secure a seat. Unfortunately sitting in the side section meant that we couldn't see the enclosure at the rear of the 'stage' completely, and subsequently missed parts of the show. Management, please cut back the trees so that all seats have complete views, or limit numbers. If you can manage to wait until a later show, you'll be able to get much better seats!
Lastly, we did a quick walk through the zoo on a couple of trails, and again, this was enjoyable (especially when we bumped into some animals being fed).
Would definitely visit again, but only once the kids (currently 3 and 4) are a bit older.

The Night Safari Zoo is a great fun for the whole family (young and old). If you like to see nocturnal animals , this is the best night time zoo to go to. The sacriest thing on the tour was the "Mangrove Walk" seeing a huge bats hanging upside down at arm's length away. Going to the "Creatures of the Night Show" was very entertaining (I won't spoil it for you).
Saleem Pothiwala (27/04/2017 07:17)
A very unique experience to see so many different animals at night. The wait was a bit longer as everyone from zoo and river Safari try to come here directly after finishing their day. Trams are helpful. The animals looked healthy and happy. You can take a detour and walk around some parts of the Safari.
Jonathan Greenstein (11/04/2017 05:02)
Part of the Singapore Zoo but a special behind the scenes look at the animals at night. You can take the narrated tram tour or strike out on foot to catch some amazing nighttime animal action.
The crowds can be a bit much the first hour or so, we have found that it's best to skip the tram at first and do the walking tour.
As with the Zoo during the day, the staff is very friendly. The zoo is well maintained, easy to navigate and a must see.
Anon Z (01/03/2017 14:54)
It's pretty similar to the zoo, but the animals you get to see at night are different and more in number than what you can see at daytime in the zoo. There are well lit walking paths if you want to explore on foot or you can take the mini buses type vehicles (don't remember exactly what they're called) which will move along and pause at certain points where you can see the animals. We took the latter and it was really good and saves a lot of time and energy. Definitely you should not miss this on your trip to Singapore.

The night safari has a unique design. It has a mysterious and exciting atmosphere, and the animals in the zoo are nocturnal. A must-see is the Creatures of the Night Show which will satisfy both young and old. The place is usually not so crowded and there are many interesting exhibits. Recommended for families.
Danielle Kamrad (12/02/2017 15:08)
My 21 month old son and I went on a Sunday night. It was not as crowded as we thought it would be. He enjoyed himself throughly. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The park is a little big for us to cover in one night (toddler needs sleep); good thing we recently obtained the Friends of Wildlife membership. The tram ride is awesome and takes you into certain parts that are inaccessible by foot. No need for cameras (too dark) moreover, it's the experience that counts ;-)
Holger Stitz (10/02/2017 15:37)
Very good and unique experience. During the week it felt less crowded. The rain and (light) thunderstorm transformed our safari in a true rain forest tour. The staff was very friendly and well organized. The signs next to the compounds are very informative. We can recommend the safari.
Reem Hourieh (09/02/2017 00:54)
It was really good experience despite of the heavy rain and thunder. We really enjoyed it and we've seen all the animals. The most beautiful ones were the elephants, tigers, lions, flying squirrel etc. It's a place worth visiting. Really organized and safe, nothing to worry about. You can see animals from a really close distance in their natural environment. I really loved it.

Worthwhile adventurous visit!
Experience: Two ways to view the animals: by tram, by foot. Recommend you take the tram and there is a tram stop for you to get off and walk, but don't get off just ride thru the entire tram experience (40 minutes) as there are some animals you can only view on the tram. After the tram ride, take the trails they are all connected so start from one side and be sure to bring a map to maneuver thru the bushes/trees and finish at the end of the other trails.
Animals: A whole variety of interesting creatures to view during the night. I saw animals and their habits that I have never seen before. Truly worthwhile nocturnal experience to see animals that usually would not be visible during the day!
Location: Centre of Singapore, north of the Singapore Botanical Gardens and Central Business District and Orchard Shopping district. Taxi recommended.
Key Takeaway: If you don't mind going slightly away from common Singapore landmarks, this is a recommended visit as the experience is like no other. Recommend going during low-peak periods or later in the evening to avoid crowds or queues.
Visited October 2016.
Punit Nathani (16/10/2016 12:16)
A very good experience exploring the nocturnal animals in captivity. The tours could be better. But the most frustrating part is the enormous waiting time even when they have vistors as per specific time slots. My parents have trouble standing for long time. It took us more than one hour in queue to board the tram! Additionally, the tram footrest was higher than usual so my mother couldn't climb up. No support provided by the staff too. Had it not been for the animals and the night show, I'd have rated it lower.
Wawen Caranto (06/09/2016 06:39)
It was a peak season when we visited this place. Though it was crowded, the zoo was well maintained. An awesome experience to interact and personally see the animals at night. A bucketlist ticked once again! 🐘🐊🐆🐅
Kristofer Tidemar (30/08/2016 07:50)
Nice experience to be able to walk around in a zoo at night. The safari is however very much limited to a few walking pathways and a 40 minutes tram ride at the beginning. The bat section was by far the closest you get to the animals with bats flying two inches from your face, don't go there if you are scared of bats! Flash photography is forbidden so bring a camera with high aperture lens. You will not be allowed to experience the full extent of the Singapore zoo at night, it is better at daytime. Taxi to Woodland MRT station is the best option (costs around S$8) if you don't want to spend a lot more going by taxi all the way to the city. Last MRT leaves Woodland at around 11.15 pm so don't go on one of the later Safari tours if you want to use the MRT to get back to the city.
Ryan Phung (26/08/2016 14:51)
My favourite of all the zoos in Singapore.
Very well maintained, the animals are well fed and taken care responsibly. What I like the most is that all the animal living quarters seem very opened and natural, with natural lighting that actually looks like moon light. Well I like night time in general and the place has a peaceful, calm, yet adventurous spirit to it. I think whoever designed this zoo has done a really good job.
There are 2 main activities that you should do: joining the nigh show, take a tram trip, and then do some walking on your own around the area that is not covered by the tram. You have around 4 and a half hours to do everything before they close the zoo, and believe me, if you would like to see everything that is barely enough. Therefore, remember to get a map from the entrance and check the schedule of the show (on the map) so that you could plan your visit!
The show itself is a great experience (however don't expect a circus); it's a good show to help you understand about animals and about what we could do to live in harmony with them.
Tim Natale (09/07/2016 11:17)
Crowded, but well worth it! The animals were very active, which was great to see. We ended up not using the tram and walking a lot to avoid the crowds, which was also a good decision, but tiring. The show in the amphitheater was also very good. The safari included many animals I'd never seen before. Use Uber for transport, the taxi line was long.
Kartik Gupta (02/07/2016 20:35)
The long queue gets a bit tiring but at the end it's worth it. Buy premium tickets, you won't have to wait in queue then. Tram ride is awesome. Don't miss the walking trails, they are the memorable parts when you are with friends or family. Animal show is awesome, better than the fire show.
Try reaching earlier and enjoy the whole place to the fullest. Have fun guys.
Nick Connor (01/07/2016 11:34)
Deffinatly worth doing - the trip is probably about 45 minutes and it is great to see some of the animals at night. We saw the Creatures Of The Night show also which is fun and good for kids.
Kent Robert Swick Jr. (08/06/2016 05:46)
What better way is there to experience a zoo than in the cooler part of the evening when the animals actually WANT to be active! Enjoy detailed paths that give you a closer look at each of the animals, or take the included 45 minute tram ride through the park and enjoy every animal that way! Excellent family experience while in Singapore!
Richard Knights (27/05/2016 05:17)
Very well put together - the animals are inevitably pretty lazy at night but it makes for an interesting view. The spookiness, the quiet, the wide eyes, it all led to great experience. I enjoyed the fire dance at the beginning. Definitely worth doing once - perhaps not more though. The crocs were very close, great to see something and actually be a bit worried it could get you.
