Their coffee never disappoint me. Charming cafe. True blue Hidden gem

Great local with both good coffee and good food. I like how they’ve done a fusion of Asian food with western style coffee.

Great coffee, but need more variety of cakes. Nice place to chill, work or just chat.

Good healthy place for lunch. Went there for my birthday brunch and was really good.

The place closes at 6. I arrived at 5:03 and they said they can’t serve anymore. Not even coffee. Wow. Stupidest thing I have ever heard of. They will stay open another 57 minutes paying staff and running the aircon and a customer who wants a coffee and wants to give them money is not welcome. Is this communist Russia?

Easily one of my favorite Café. Friendly staff. Try it if you're nearby.

Here's how my order taste like: soy sauce blended "mocha", over-fried ultra thin potato crisp and a small bowl cherry tomatoes, mozzarella cheese with thick "kicap chilli" dressing (pisang goreng dipping sauce).

Food was good and tasty although it took a while to arrive but staff asked me how was everything and explained that I came during peak hour and to please excuse them for the delay. All good.

Great coffee and food (especially sambal fried rice 🌶️). For those who are into beer they have varieties of beer on tap. Did I mention that the baristas make great coffee? 😉 Let them know your request as they are more than happy to serve you. They have artisanal tea and single origin chocolate for non-caffeine drinker.

Went during lunch time on a weekend. Place was not too crowded and it was cozy. Food portion was small and a bit pricey but decent at the minimum. Coffee is good

Nice coffee, great service by the staff there, very welcoming environment. The menu have limited option for lunch so the staff recommend I have their daily special mee HOON by mum. Really have homely feeling. Didn't expect they have such food! The only issue here is parking.

Quiet ambience with enjoyable food. A separate room available for small group of friends if you prefer.

Service is atrocious. The staffs were inattentive and always on the phone. Food was really bad and unimaginative. Agree that this is hands down the worst coffee we've ever tasted. Wait time was super long ~ 40 minutes. OK setting, but super squeezy. Browsing through other reviews, gotta agree that those who left raving reviews were probably friends and bloggers with benefits.

Having travelled frequently between 3 continents and been to over a few hundred coffee shops, partner and I both had each ordered our own coffee here and agreed: Hands down the worst coffee we've ever tasted. Wait time was over 50 minutes. Service was average. Nice setting, too bad a bit cramped. Came because of the high praises, but after trying ourselves, browsing through other reviews gave a hint that those who left raving reviews were probably friends and bloggers with benefits.

If you are into coffee, probably you will like it. Small and cosy place. Food is a tad costly and is the coffee. But hey it's a cafe, cant expect much. Can try if you havent tried it yet. Food soso only. Coffee is pretty ok... Service staff is friendly though..

The Fettuccine al Ragu ($14.90) & Pappardelle al Verde con Funghi ($14.90) I had for lunch was ON POINT as well, so much that I felt like eating either again for dinner. 👌 At first glance, you might think there is too much cheese just by looking at it - but after you mix everything up, it melts & binds everything together.. So no, there isn't too much cheese 😉
The Ragu is more generous with ingredients (minced pork & beef), but I prefer the Pappardelle for its flavours. I am a sucker for runny eggs & mushrooms. Very happy with both pastas being executed perfectly al dente & so flavourful.
Cuppa-Caffeine of choice: White Coffee (4/6/8oz - $5.50) - opted for the largest size & a Pourover ($7.00) with Kenyan beans. Both were excellent & delicious.
Dessert was scrumptious too: Apple Tart Tatin ($10.00), which has a preparation time of 30 minutes; so it's best to order it at the start of your meal 'cos it's gonna take a while. Does not look like much, but is a pleasant dessert. The pastry added a nice chewy texture to the soft apple in the center-- which, btw, the apple is PIPING HOT so watch out when you tuck in! Surprisingly, it is NOT as sweet as I feared it would be. Delightful!
There aren't a lot of seats here; thankful to have arrived early because at the end of our meal, it was so packed that people had to share tables. Necessary Provisions does take reservations on Chope, but there is a minimum spend of $15 per person when you do that, so do bear that in mind.

Good coffee, roasted on their own. I love the basil pesto pasta too!

If you're into bitter coffee and legit chocolate drinks that's acidic and bitter. This is the place for you. 👍 Cool place though. 😅

The coffee is very nice, and the juice is quite refreshing. The home made cake is nice as well. The bad side is that they seated us on a large table shared with others. I would prefer such a cafe to be a cozy place for a date rather a dinner place for big groups.

First time being there and simply love this quiet and cozy place.

I loved the Spicy Edamame! I thought it was unique, I have never tried this style before as the Edamame I have tried is usually served plain. The Pad Kra Pow Gai was burnt - not slightly charred as they intended to be. Also, a very small portion of chicken and veg was served with a lot of rice.
For their homemade seasonal pasta, it would have been a Winner if the pasta was cooked a little bit more - The pasta was less than al dente, such a pity!! :(
The flat white (at 8 oz) was beautiful.
The staff were kind and attentive.
[ The toilet is well maintained and clean - could do with brighter lighting (or walls) as it is so dark and dim inside - this is of no major issue at all, just sharing :) ]
Would I go back again? Yes, if I happen to be close by, I would pop in for a quick Coffee and Spicy Edamame.

Their specials change frequently and are always well done. Their buttermilk fried chicken is to die for and their cakes are good.

Hip, chill and quiet. The food is wonderful but the prices are a bit on the high side I think. I still find myself going back though. Friendly staff with great customer service. Do check their FB page, they seem to open and close on a whim, very frustrating when you try to pop in for a morning coffee.

Good coffee. One of the better roasts I've had anywhere.
Carl Tan (29/06/2016 16:59)
Great service! Helpful and friendly staff have good knowledge of menu items and are able to provide good recommendations. Menu may not be comprehensive but every dish is executed to a very good level of quality. Seating may be limited and benches may be a little uncomfortable for long sit-ins. Nice, cosy environment with eclectic but homely interior decoration.

Went on a Saturday around 1pm, just when they were switching from brunch to dinner menu. Ordered an 8oz white coffee, the Buta Don and Fish Tacos. Food took quite a while to serve, almost 20+ minutes. Buta Don was underwhelming, rice was hard, and tasted like those food court hotplate tauge with pork, but with much smaller serving size. Fish Tacos was well prepared, fish was fresh, crispy outside and juicy inside, accompanied by well balanced tomato salsa and mango puree/chutney, wrapped in a toasted tortilla. Only gripe is portion was again small for the $20 paid. Overall food was a bit pricey, but coffee was good and well portioned.
