Generally, this hospital has very responsive and caring nurses. Pleasant stay when I gave birth to my first child in January. It'd be perfect if all their nurses provide equally good service!

rather go to other Hospitals because this private hospital has bad services at A&E
Eric Leng (01/01/2018 15:28)
My kids are delivered here and used their A&E services twice. They are fast, efficient and economical. Staff are courteous and professional. Best hospital in Singapore.

I rate this hospital five stars because of the EXCELLENT STAFF.
Good attitudes, competence, and friendly smiles make all the difference here.
And Guess what? Unlike Thomson's you can actually understand all the staff's English - no heavy foreign accents.
No one likes to go to the hospital, but if you need to then I recommend Mt. Alvernia Hospital.

Mount Alvernia Hospital is a 304-bed general acute care hospital with tertiary medical capabilities and two multi-disciplinary medical specialist centres. The hospital is supported by over 1,200 accredited doctors, with more than 160 specialists on-campus. The hospital is located at 820 Thomson Road

I was in this hospital from 5th October/16 to 11th October. I was digonosed with cancer in my right kidney. I got admitted for immediate right kidney removal surgery. I was in St.Dominic ward in room St. Jacob. OT is excellent, room is excellent, very clean. Doctors are very expert, except one nurse I found all the nurses very caring, humble and highly professional. Though it is Christian missionary hospital and I am a Muslim, hospital served me Muslim food.
But office seemed little beat lengthy.

Went in e night for child recurrent fever and cough. Child was delivered there with good experience. But after x ray e doc can't read and confirm the finding , need wait two days for radiologist to come back after PH. Signed and explained by a nurse to pay $50 for X-ray, $20 for blood test but at payment was told these are just surcharges , paid $300 plus for consultation X-ray and blood test. Yet need wait another two days to know result. Should have gone to kk. Regret the choices .

The team of Day Case Surgery Centre is professional and helpful. The check-in and check-out processes are quite efficient. Love the facilities.

The doctor n nurses are very humble n nice ppl . But the ppl at business office under payment are ridiculous. They are really worst than loan sharks .
I only carry ocbc card n i hv 2 ocbc card to make payment . One card can only swipe for 3k . I keep on explaining to the psa that i will pay 6k n the remaining wen i get my revise bill. Anyway i hv my isurance n medishield to cover too which was not deducted from my interim bill as it has to be approved. Yes i agree but u cant tell us that u cant leave the hospital without settling the bill. We are sporeans ..we dun run away
I keep on explaining to them that i only hv 2 bank card as i dun hv any credit card. And will settle in 1 weeks time ..they say "no" ..in 2 days time ..also no.
Im a housewife n the saving account in under my hubby name . I hv to bring him to the bank to draw out the big sum. But if i use the card at the atm machine i can only draw $3k a day . He has just done the operation on his eyes n i cant drag him to the bank as he needs rest .
Why are ppl from the this hospital so humanless ..i was very very disappointed of their service.
I hv been to Mt E for the same operation n i only paid a deposit of 6k n waited for my revise bill after the insurance coverage n then settle the remaining.
This operation was done in a emergency situation as my husband retina was detached. This is his 3rd time dd this surgery . The first one which was done in government hospital n it was not done properly thats y we went to private hospital to get a proper surgery. The 2nd one was done in Mt E . Its the same doctor who did the surgery at Mt A
We might not be rich but end of the day we definitely wil pay up ..but why cant the hospital staff be more reasonable

My child was born here. The nurses and midwives are very experienced, helpful and professional. The only downside is the lack of variety of food choices. The free shuttle bus to bishan mrt or novena MRT I'd a plus
JAMES NG (24/09/2016 00:20)
Child born here. Nurses are brisk but extremely helpful and friendly.
Need to know your way around and ensure to find all the hidden costs or you will be caught off guard. While it is vaguely explained there in the registration phase. you should still clarify.
Service response is a little little bit slow but still very acceptable.

To see doctor for 5 min you will wait 2 hours+. Then you will get medicine and no result. Then you come again and wait again 2+ hours... But local people who came after me get to see doctor much faster... Should I call it racial discrimination? if I am foreigner I get to wait for ages?

One of the nicest hospitals around in terms of service and standard of rooms. The chapel is a huge plus, and there are nuns that go around the wards offering prayers and holy communion daily for Catholic patients.

I have called to the hospital today at around 5pm and told one of the nurse about my condition on my throat. Was asking her to give me the number so I can book for appointment for a specialist. She insisted that I should go to the AnE. When I reached the hospital, say told me all the fees I have to paid saying as it's after 5pm need pay extra for everything. She should have tell me on the phone first, not until when I came to the hospital. Secondly, telling me no specialist around and I need to pay extra $400 to ask the specialist to come. In the end I ended up paying the consultant fee around $70 without seeing any specialist and was asked to called the specialist myself the next morning. It's like I paid for the $70 for nothing. They just want me to waste my time to come and pay the consultant fee for nothing. All these problem can be avoided when she explained me on tge phone about the extra charges, no specialist around and giving me the number of the throat department on the phone. She is very unprofessional and when I talked to her in the hospital about how I feel, she just give me some unsatisfactory answer and very defensive on herself.

Never like hospitals. It's intimidating and scary. When I had to undergo a diagnostic surgery years ago I opted Mt Alvernia. It was serene and felt nothing like big 'commercial' hospitals. I like that it's non profit organization too. Being a Catholic the chapel is like a retreat for some peace and calm. I gave birth to my son there and had another day surgery there.

The place is well facilitated and many specialists of different fields. The buildings are fully renovated with multi-storey carparks, nice food canteen and stores. Overall experience is friendly n cosy.
