Bought a cake here for a colleague's birthday party and I was shocked to hear that I was not allowed to take photos of the cakes on display nor their catalogue despite me wanting to share the designs on my group chat with my friends. What is this, 1984?

The worker was eyeing me like a hawk and claims that he was under instructions by his boss. The designs of the cakes were not out of the ordinary of a neighbourhood cake shop so I'm not sure what the fuss was about.

I believe their speciality is custom cake designs which makes the idea of photography moot. Am I also not allowed to take a photo of the cake at the party now?
