I love the cosy ambience and coffee aroma at Maison Ikkoku but have not patronised for quite a while.

Yesterday, my husband and I decided to revisit Maison Ikkoku for coffee. We were given the bar counter with high chairs but we were not comfortable. So, my husband requested for a table instead. We were told that we must spend a minimum of $50 if we want to sit at the table. It was after 3pm and we already had our lunch earlier. We simply wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee each and a cake on a laid-back Sunday afternoon. Though, my husband pointed to the service crew that there were 3 open tables near the entrance of the restaurant, he was not accommodating and stressed that it was the restaurant’s policy. Despite the fact there were not more than 5 customers in the restaurant and also several seats available at the back of the restaurant. The total spending of our coffee and cake was unlikely to meet $50, hence we left Maison Ikkoku.

Ironically, the restaurant would prefer to keep the table vacant rather than make available for the customers already at the door. I have to thank Maison Ikkoku for making me discover a better place for coffee and cake just two streets away.

I suggest go somewhere else if you are not spending $50 at Maison Ikkoku unless you wouldn’t mind a bar counter seat.

Really delicious omakase, great ambience, nice bespoke cocktails! Every experience has been uniquely different with Fort / Maison. Thanks!

Writing this review because my experience herewas so bad. I thought it was weird that this place had 4.2 stars until I saw the suspicious amount of 5star Russian reviews - it adds up 🤔

In my first visit, I was told that I could only get a bar seat at 4pm when the restaurant was completely empty because they wanted to reserve the tables for customers having lunch - at 4pm I must reiterate

In my second visit, the customer service was terrible - gave some polite feedback about the food and was faced with cocky service. Highly do not recommend!! It was much better in the past but now it’s truly just a complacent place with no desire to improve. Do not support this establishment there are so many other places (around this restaurant/bar-saturated area) that deserve your patronage so much more.

Maison Ikkoku:

I have not and will not be risking at your little narcissist pseudo Japanese cookhouse. So this 1 star is for your attitude to feedbacks.

1. Salty and no taste. Sharp words but poor execution.
2. Plating of comeback amateurish without finesse. Add a few dashes of wit sauce so sorely lacking.
3. Cry baby with fat fingers how to press nigiri?
4. Can't take what you give? Then don't act cool.
5. Yes, your salty reaction is expected so go ahead and show us I am right again.

Amazing cocktail bar. Although they have no signature cocktails they will make whatever you want.

I find it is a very fun place to go to, particularly with visitors.

Came here without booking and had a seat outside. Got a bespoke cocktail with sloe gin and was amazing. Good views of the mosque, very chilled out.

The bartenders are fun to chat with and they make really nice drinks.. they'll cater to your liking and will remedy the drink if you don't like it.

My wife and I just came here to experience the cocktails. Like many of the cocktail bars around, all cocktails are bespoke and are made to your own unique liking. Our cocktails at this bar were excellent and would highly recommend it, however, it is best to either sit downstairs or upstairs closer to the bar just so you are attended to quicker especially in the busier hours.

Bespoke cocktails concocted by friendly mixologists behind the intimate and welcoming bar. I felt that my favourite drinks are heard and reinterpreted, which brought about a few rounds of delight. Portion of food is good for sharing but the taste is nothing to shout home about. I felt they went overboard with the sauce and killed the real flavor of fresh salmon. The food did take a while to arrive and the air conditioning turned the dishes cold top quickly. The air conditioner bent needs fixing. Overall still a great experience. Tip, ask for a seat at the bar so you'll get the best service. Reservation recommended.

A rose gold bar top with jazz music. A perfect place to chill. A lovely outdoor balcony seats with a therapeutic view to end of after a long day. Great service crews to talk with and delicious cocktails to rejunivate your day. A few kinds of infused drinks that are unique and special where other place couldn't be found. Lobster linguine is a die die must try. Too goodddddd!!!!

Maison Ikkoku is my absolute favourite for a weekend breakfast / brunch. Having tried a number of brunch places, but this one is by far one of the best. Their French Toast with Berries, Eggs Benedict and iced chocolate are my favourite. Also they can make really nice coffee too!! Love it overall, has recommended this place to few of my friends and all of them also loved it too! Keep up the great job Maison Ikkoku!!

Nice place to chill for brunch. Tried their signature Lobster Linguine, it taste really amazing!! *Thumbs Up* They renovated recently with new nice art pieces on the walls. Love the atmosphere with jazzy music and their food. Will be back to try more of their food items.

I like the ambience and the food served here. They also have alcohol infused tea (served in a bottle). The ambience is cozy and the servers are super friendly and attentive!

Nice coktail bar, the terrace has a great view on the mosque. The only issue on the terrace is for cocktails with ice, it melt too fast obviously and make the drink too bland

Nice coffee place to chill while waiting for kaya rolls to be ready two doors away. Made a mental note to come back and try their cocktails next time.

Gary Buckmaster (06/06/2017 04:00)
The downstairs coffee is incredible. The bar upstairs, has fantastic drinks but can get crowded. This is a fun place with good quality eats and treats.

Andrea Bonanomi (01/06/2017 05:23)
Cocktails are exceptional, to try for a 20S$ vi very customised drink. Bartenders are skilful and place is little but cozy near Sultan Mosque

Ridzuan Ashim (25/04/2017 18:48)
A quaint little coffee place that serves pretty good coffee. Closes a little too early for me though!

abbas zafar (14/04/2017 17:10)
The bar is nondescript from the outside, but very hip from the inside.

As a bespoke speakeasy bar, they do a good job surprising you with tastes you didn't know you loved.

Highly recommend if in the area.

Han Ping Teo (06/03/2017 12:35)
Quiet and cozy place. Nice waffles. Coffee a bit too milky for my taste. Overall a recommended to be visited café

Amanda Tang (05/03/2017 15:31)
Nice, quiet place with good coffee. We had a cold brew and a Hojicha Latte, and both were great!

Prem John (01/02/2017 09:54)
Great coffee and cakes. So so on the bespoke cocktails on the second floor. Half the time they're great, half the time they're undrinkable

Erich Frankenberg (07/01/2017 06:22)
Great place, very good ambiance. Not your typical drinks, be ready to be surprised. For a nice surprise, ask for a pandan infused drink.

Danny Ryan (09/12/2016 13:48)
Amazing cocktail.experience, there is no drink menu, you tell them what you like and they invent a drink for you. I like vodka and ginger and what came back was a spicey ginger martini. My friend wanted as drier drink, she got a vodka + gin martini, also interesting. All overlooking a cool mosque, ironically.

Rei Lim (15/10/2016 11:13)
Kinda cosy place and good for small gatherings. Quality seem to have dropped though in recent year. Would be good if the menu could be revamped with more food items.

Beatriz Rodriguez (20/09/2016 10:50)
Love the Chai here. Not a coffee drinker but my friends love the coffee too. The brunch is also pretty good although the place is very crowded

Joel Chua (04/09/2016 14:42)
Coffee is great!! Tried the signature latte... good place to chill and chat with friends.. cakes were so so.. could have been better

Robert Chohan (20/07/2016 00:24)
This was y first ever taste of the bespoke cocktail experience - your bartender asks what flavours you prefer (sweet, salty, sour etc) and preference over strength, alcohol type and length of drink amongst others. From their in-depth knowledge of the spirits at hand, they then go about crafting you a cocktail designed just for you.

However, after having tried other bespoke cocktail bars in Singapore (it seems to be a popular thing here), I realised that M.I. bartenders already have a clear plan, even a go-to recipe, based on what preferences you may have. At the price they charge (which is very similar elsewhere) I would have expected a truly bespoke service.

Nonetheless, the cocktails were good, just not enough to blow me away. The venue itself is very cost, dimly lit (in a good way) with laid back tune in the background. If I was in the area I would come again

Do not go for their breakfast!

My hubby tried their lunch and highly recommendated their coffee to me. So we decided to go for their breakfast this morning, and I had a horrible experience.

The cappuccino was tasted sour. I ordered scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The smoked salmon was not fresh and tasted fishy. I asked my hubby to tried the salmon and he agreed it's not fresh. I politely requested for a change but there was no apologies from them at all. As I was sitting near the kitchen, I heard the cook complaining loud and clear.... He said, "it's smoked salmon, of course it's not fresh. They thought its fresh salmon, is it?" I guess he think I have never eaten smoked salmon before.

After hearing his complaints, I lose my appetite and decided to ask for a refund instead. The only good thing is they agreed to refund without any argument.

Latte was good. Food was good. Service was good. Many different types of coffee and filtration methods if you're a coffee buff. Expect some waiting though, it's a popular place. Unique decor as well

Quaint Cafe, Serious Coffee

Located in a nondescript sliver of a door near Arab street is one of my favorite Cafes and Weekend Brunches to visit. Different ways of brewing coffee is how they stand out.

😍Try:
Eggs Benedict [Brunch menu; Parma Ham version with a slightly spicy hollandaise]
Flat White [perfect mix of milk and coffee]

🙂Okay:
Hangover Omelette [Brunch menu; can be a tad dry]

Visited Maison Ikkoku for the first time a year and half ago. They had a decent brunch menu, the place was busy and the food was excellent. I liked it so much that I dragged my husband to this place during my last visit to Singapore. We were both dissapointed. The menu has shrunk to 4 brunch items. I ordered the eggs benedict on brioche and the quality of the bread had a lot to desire for.... And at S$21 not worth the price or the trip.

The coffee tho.

I've been heading to MI for at least 4 years now, and it's never disappointed. Heck, I've brought at least 7 to 8 different groups of friends, and they've all loved it as much.

Although I have to add, the quality of coffee you get at MI differs according to the barista making it.

Plus: The food used to be terrific and extremely value-for-money. Sadly, in recent months/years, standards seem to have taken a hit, and prices have only inflated.

Tip: if you're driving, don't scrimp on a parking coupon. The parking wardens are relentless around this area.
