Pretty good food but very overpriced. Not worth it as there are some better option out there for fusion Japanese food. Plus side, a few nice dishes and good service.

Cool rooftop to hangout with friends or colleagues after work. Decent prices during happy hour, good music and nice view. Don't expect table service usually since you have to be on your own to find a table. (no sitting, mostly high tables)

When I go to Kinki, I go for the rooftop bar after working hours and I enjoy it.
This time I tried the restaurant for lunch. I would say it was very disappointing. Doesn't worth the expensive price. Premium price but low quality.
The taste is nothing authentic. We paid $27 for 2 pieces of sushi completely soaked in sweet sauce.
Salmon maki was served with tartar sauce.
It took very long for the foods to be served

My favourite part of this place is the roof terrace, perfect for after-work drinks with a great view of the marina.
They have 'buy one get one free' happy hours, but usually insist on serving both drinks at once. Service is also very sporadic; the managers tend to be friendly and helpful, but the bar staff can be slow, inattentive and a little rude.

Good place for a nice meal with a nice view. Come just before sunset to get a nice ambience change from day to night. The food is great and the staff is friendly. Prices are ok.

Simply put, the food isn't good here. Why did they *fry* the maki roll? Also why is their "okonomiyaki" nothing but overpriced prawn toast smothered in mayo and bonito flakes? It's not inventive, just lazy. The only somewhat acceptable thing was the uni sushi but it was far too expensive ($14 per piece!!!). The verdict: skip it.

The bar has great view. The food comes up pretty slow. I am not a fan of the music: a lot of rapping songs. The music was also too loud.

I will appreciate it if someone from the management of kinki responds to this. A waiting staff members of yours, Suki, sulks the whole time. When I thanked her for serving drinks or bringing dishes, she failed to respond with an acknowledgement or a smile consistently for a few times. When we asked for one more pour of the Prosecco and ice cream (politely ) 5 minutes after 230pm, her response was far from satisfactory. We would have accepted it if the delivery has been gracious, not in a manner that reflects ill manners or social ineptness. Am still scratching my head as to what the rolling of eyes, frowning, twitching of her forehead and multiple shakes of her head (disapprovingly) mean in any given social and human context. Kinki, we did not pay $290 for two persons to have to deal with a waiting staff member who lacks social skills and manners. The twitching and the rolling of eyes may be appreciated in the Greaterst Showman, not in Kinki for sure. Also, as a tip, should Suki be lost for words in a similar situation in the future, just smile or say ‘thank you’, twitching is not an universal language for acceptable service. Thank you.

I came here for a lunch with my friends. Thankfully we made a reservation as the place was full when I arrived.
The servers were not friendly and quite frankly I was disappointed with the service rendered by the servers. After our meal was finished, and we were chatting, no one bothered to top up our water. The only time anyone was friendly to us was when we were leaving.
Service aside, this is a good place if you would like to have a great waterfront view.
Food was of a good standard. I had the spicy salmon which was not spicy at all. The salmon was very fresh. I enjoyed the food. According to my lunch date, the beef was done perfectly.
So if you can withstand nonchalant service, this would be a pretty nice place for a meal.
Price wise, we paid approximately $150 for 3 sets for lunch.

Please note that I am reviewing the bar, not the restaurant.
I feel like it is overpriced and overcrowded on the multiple occasions I have been there. There are much better atmosphere and prices in the area. The view is nice but that's it. Most of the time you can't even sit and are stuckshoulder to shoulder with all of the other misguided souls who decided to come to the place.

Great presentation and full of flavour. Only a bit pricey and had to wait quite some time to bring the food

Spectacular waterfront view. Outstanding friendly service. We headed there without reservation , yet warmly accommodated. Don't miss the crusted salmon & the extensive Maki rolls selection.

Very nice Japanese food, but the true value of this famous restaurant is the location. View from the rooftop is one of the best you can find in Singapore, and the interiors and concept of the restaurant are kinda unique. Worth every penny.

We were at Kinki sometime back for cocktails and I have to say that the view from their open bar is breathtaking. Especially as night falls and you see the transition from evening to the dark and light go on across the harbour - breathtaking. The cocktails are awesome. The service was to the point. All in all a wonderful place to grab some after work drinks with your colleagues.

Kinki has an edgy feel, somewhere between a feel of a Japanese manga comic and a trendy bar.
The food is nice as are some of the cocktails. I tried the salmon and mango maki, chawamushi, tempura which were nice. Along with the lychee and pear martini which I will recommend as well. The service is professional, staccato and lacks warmth and flexibility. The last orders are at 2215hrs and the place starts cleaning up almost immediately even before you've had a chance to wind up.

Fusion Japanese food. Average quality but slightly pricey. Service was a little tardy. Otherwise an enjoyable evening, though not outstanding.

Unique twist to Japanese style fussion sushi. It is a great place to have a date.
Sin Rui Teoh (21/04/2017 15:42)
Music is great, especially if you like the 90s/00s stuff
View - depending where you're seated, half the venue is probably blocked by the tower structure on the roof
Food (rooftop bar) - hit and miss. In the words of a honest Waiter A: "some are frozen food from the supermarket" which is expected, but Kinki charges a slight premium relative to other bars.
Service - TERRIBLE. Like what the other reviewers said, service was not prompt. What was worse was apparently my table had a reservation by others but when my friend and I ordered another round of wine, a Waiter B said nothing about it and went on to serve our drinks. A few minutes later, we were told by Waiter C we had to leave as the table was reserved.
I questioned Waiter C then why our drinks were served in the first place and we were not asked to go if the table was reserved. (Honestly, even if we wanted to, there's no way for us to gulp down our wine in one go to make way. )
So Waiter C sent a security guard over to escort us out. The security guard came over but he was nice and just hanging around hoping we will finished our drinks soon.
IMHO, the root cause of all this was because Waiter B decided to serve us another round of drinks (whether oversight or not), indirectly indicating we could stay on. The ideal outcome would have been for a Kinki personnel to find us another place where we, as paying customers, could finish our paid drinks in a reasonable time.
But to send a security guard over?!?!?!? Is Kinki trying to emulate United Airlines or what?
In the end, the manager came over. Waiter C was not pleased and was pretty sarcastic when he "apologized" saying that customer is always right. However, that is NOT the point.
The point is for Kinki to have
1) managed its reservations better in the first place
2) offering a constructive solution, e.g. moving customers to another spot, and not using threat in the form of calling the security (if my friend and I had been rowdy, sure, kick us out. But we were NOT and definitely not creating a public nuisance)
Bad service.

Rooftop bar is a fun happy hour spot
Ricardo Bentini (30/03/2017 01:34)
The service is really bad, the food is ok and overprice. There was no photo of the dish at the menu, we did not have any idea about the portion size, and waiters also did not inform it properly. Furthermore, I got food poisoning after having dinner there. I really don't recommend this restaurant.

Good food and drinks. Popular place to have drinks after work with a nice view of the bay. Make a reservation to avoid disappointment!
Cc Zhang (11/02/2017 04:21)
It's a great place for after work boozes. Nice view perfectly unblocked view over the water.
The rooftop bar is really small so remember to always make a reservation.
On drizzling days the bar tenders love to play with their shelter by keep drawing and expanding it. So if you are not in sheltered area you get wet. If you are sheltered you will soon feel the stuffiness surround you. That's the only thing bothering me.
The food is pretty good. I love the sushi, they will make from the restaurant downstairs. Though food seems just ok since we go there monthly.

Some stuff is relatively cheap, some stuff is relatively expensive, all get a `good food' rating.

Great low level rooftop in the city. Happy hour drinks before 20:00.

The food was great! Had one of the lunchtime poke bowls and left very satisfied. However, the service was really slow! It took forever to wave down the staff, who seemed busy not doing much..

Came by for drinks twice before. Drinks are good but the bar food is incredibly overpriced. The rooftop setting provides a great view of the Marina but can be humid and warm when it gets crowded. I might consider another place just because the food price is ridiculous for the snack portion served.
Rik Downey (19/08/2016 03:04)
Kinki is a fantastic venue for a low key, high quality dining experience. For those familiar with the Shoreditch scene in London, Kinki would not be out of place.
The menu is vast but the taste delivers with every choice. This really is sushi and sashimi at its best.
The rooftop bar is also a cool spot for a few drinks.
Alan Chang (26/07/2016 01:42)
Food taste ok but be prepared to pay premium price. It's a place with a good view of the marina bay if you get a window seat which I didn't despite making reservation a week in advance. They say can only try. So,was disappointing that the window seat two tables away were empty from 1815h to 2000h. Not that the place is cheap. The meal for 2 were quite full for us but ended up paying more than $220. Desserts were supposed to make you feel happy but digging into the 2 scoops of ice cream made me from on looking at the hollows inside even though they taste quite good. Ice cream flavours limited to 3: Yuzu, black sesame and green tea.
Namdev Sachathep (29/06/2016 06:43)
Great food. But rowdy in the evenings. Make a reservation if you want to get a seat. If you're going to the bar upstairs be prepared to be squished!

Japanese restaurant well located in the Customs House building. Had a reasonable selection of vegetarian options. Good service. For dinner, they have two seatings is you're in before 7p, you need to be out by 830p. Beautiful views of Marina Bay.

Nice Bar with good view towards Marina Bay Sands. I kinda liked the laid back music. Mix of bar house, RnB and old school charts..
James Baker (03/03/2016 02:42)
It's a very cool place. But it costs $20 a beer, and the clientele are mostly male CBD employees rather than the artists and creatives that would suit the vibe. The view, although great, isn't the best view of the quayside either.

Have spent many long afternoons and evenings here. Great place to have drinks, the music is awesome, and the best things ever is the single beer cooler that you get when you buy one for one!
