Best Salted Egg Crab in Singapore. Really, the best. Nice staff and great ambience. Food delicious. Salted Egg Grab 1000% recommended.

Other plates to order: the mix platter, coffee pork ribs, chilli crab, La-La, buns, chicken wings.

And if this were not enough, the place is cheap.

Love this place.

Are you convinced?

Absolutely loved this family-run restaurant—it’s a must visit in Singapore. The moonlight horfun, prawn rolls, black pepper soft shell crab, and the fried rice were outstanding. One of the best meals I’ve had in Singapore, and the owner (Paul) truly cares about his customers!

Difficult to find but it is a gem within a housing estate. food here is good and seafood is fresh. service is fast.

Yasuo Ogawa (28/04/2018 01:11)
Got crowded fast and service is great. Affordable! Way H out for the beer lady who keeps trying to sell you beer

I have been here 3 times: 1x dinner, 2x lunch. Dinner is nice with Singapore chilli crab, especially when entertaining guests. Also unique is the coffee pork rib, which can for both lunch and dinner. Sotong (squid) portion is quite plenty and nice as well. Decently priced for good food.

Teo Zheng Ping (22/04/2018 13:43)
Decent ambience with good food and relatively cheap prices. Waiters and waitresses were big and friendly. Only concern was the noise and that it may get a little hot in the day. Air con seats are available though!

Annette Chan-Wee (18/03/2018 16:09)
Great place for seafood. Love their salted egg crab, which has 2 ways cooking - fried n steamed. Fried salted egg will have lesser sauce whilst steamed will have more n its easier to peel off shells for elderly. Also the claypot liver is one of my favourite too. Although its at a coffee shop but its still spacious n nice to go to,they even have indoors with aircon but smaller space. Staffs are friendly n efficient.

Food was fair. The abalone cost is average about $10 each for the size of one third of my palm. Price is not very reasonable especially when I am eating at a coffee shop setting. They are saying they are a restaurant but service and food does not seem very restaurant like. Only the price seems to be so. However good for a large group gathering at a not so crowded location.

Great service. Food is alright. Call to reserve as it's really popular during festive occasions. It's no air conditioning al fresco dining only.

Phyoe Wai (15/02/2018 20:09)
Love their salted egg crab and marmite chicken. Make sure you reserve your crab before you go. One of the best in town. Recommended!

They are probably very famous given their heritage in the country, and even being awarded the Michelin guide recognition this year. Food is really tasty, although you should try not to order too many items that are "heavy" on the palette. What really impressed with is their supply chain, and the way they move orders out extremely efficiently through technology and people management. Do make sure you call to reserve as they are always packed (I was surprised with the crowd when I visited on a Wednesday), especially on weekends.

Been there twice. Dishes are simply amazing. Seafood are fresh. Long queue expected during dinner time so make a reservation first if you can. Reasonably priced. Good option for groups. One of the best zichar in Singapore.

Ai Lin Lim (22/11/2017 15:14)
Very fast, prompt and family-styled hospitality whenever we fined here. Food quality had been consistently good through the years.

Keiran Campbell (22/11/2017 12:26)
Great local seafood place. Can get very crowded especially at the weekend and you need to book (and tell them how many crabs you want).
Salted egg sotong is great. Spicy black pepper prawn are fantastic. Chilli or black pepper crabs are a winner as well. Don't miss the yam basket, it is another winner.

Had dinner there in a group of 5 on 18/10/2017. Reached there at 7.10 pm, a super peak hour. The place was packed, but the staff found us a table quickly. After taking our orders, the waiter told us the estimated waiting time was around 40 minutes, but we were pleasantly surprised when it came in 10 minutes. The wait staff was polite and very efficient. The food was great, especially the chilli crab, roast chicken, steamed buns and fish-maw-crab-meat soup. Another staff came to check that we had received all our orders. The cashier also patiently read out the individual items on my bill to confirm before payment. Overall a great experience.

Eng Ong (04/09/2017 06:29)
Great food at amazingly affordable prices. Service is good considering the crowd they have to handle. Best thing? BYO! We had 3 bottles of red with the wonderful food.

Emily Su (31/08/2017 07:13)
Delicious zhichar at reasonable prices. Don't let the picture of empty tables fool you - I dined early to avoid the crowd. If you notice closely, the empty tables are all actually reserved, as can be seen by the orders scribbled down on a price of paper that is attached to the plastic standee on each table!

So yes, you can call in advance to reserve a table, but be prepared to also place your order then to secure your reservation. ☺

We had:
Coffee Pork Ribs 咖啡排骨 - 小 ($12); great honey & coffee flavour, no bones to drive me crazy. Insanely fragrant too.

Prawn Roll 虾枣 - 小 ($8); though fried, oil doesn't ooze from its side, which I really like. Comes with dipping sauce in a little plastic dish.

Lotus Vegetables 菜脯小炒王 - 小 ($12); crunchy bits left crunchy, juicy bits were juicy. Good choice!

Double Boiled Soup 时日村汤 - 大 ($12)
Slightly creamy, comfortingly decadent. Check with them what soups are available as it changes often.

Bai Ling Gu & Chinese Mushrooms with Spinach 白灵菇冬菇菠菜 - 小 ($15); this was alright, didn't find it very special but also I'm not the biggest fan of spinach, so...

Individual bowls of rice are 60¢ each. Wet towels are chargeable by default at 20¢ each; if you don't want that, just return them when you call for the bill.

🌬 Air-conditioned seats available
☀ Al fresco seats available
📞 Accepts reservations - call them

Every dish we ordered is yummy. Only thing is crab dish subject to 2 crabs per cooked style. We could order 2 styles with 2 crabs previously. No regrets eating here.

Ming Hong Lim (13/07/2017 11:26)
One of the best Tze char restaurants in Singapore. Very consistent standards. Be sure to make a reservation before coming for the crabs. Air conditioned seating available for big groups.

Fabio Verazza (12/07/2017 13:58)
Delicious! The food is extraordinary good. The location is not really nice however the quality of the dishes moved me to give four star. I have enjoyed especially the crab cooked in a delicious souce, but also all the other items. A lot of seats available, suitable for groups as well.

Elm Marc (09/07/2017 14:33)
Offers good selection of local chinese cuisine of restaurant standards. Delicious food at zichar price

Nigel Chin (06/07/2017 23:19)
Good food and affordable prices, however service can be slow during peak times. Definitely make a table reservatiom beforehand

Bernadette Cloma-Boco (19/06/2017 14:45)
Google Maps asks "Tell us why you like this place". Salted-egg steamed crab. Enough said. No wait. Pls ensure you pair it with steamed buns.

Nik Getmygrubon (16/04/2017 14:17)
Buzzing and chaotic, super popular seafood place close-by Alexandra Food Village. It's pretty hard to get the waiters attention but when you manage to order and don't mind to wait a little for your food the results are pretty good. Crab-wise I geehrter would've wished for the chili crab to be more spicy as this one was mainly sweet and strong on the tomato. The pepper crab however was interesting and different to the ones I had before. If I'm not wrong I spotted a few curry leaves and tasted some planchan in here. My favorite dishes though were the tofu with minced meat and definitely the salted egg prawns, outstanding shrimpies!!!

Carolina Lee (16/04/2017 12:12)
Highly recommend the salted egg yolk crab! The sauce is fantastic! Fried hor fun was my favorite! So fragrant and 😋 tasty.

felix lee (03/04/2017 05:41)
Fried grouper highly fragrant but the salted egg crab disappointed as it wasn't fresh, masked by the strong sweet salted egg gravy. Regrettably, will opt for pepper crab next time. Vegetables top marks. The specialty samosas are over rated. Reasonably priced, portions are best devoured by a group of 4

Aloysius Chow (08/03/2017 12:19)
First time here but the food here is of good taste and standard. Enjoyed their tofu and salted egg squid. Their menu caters better for group dining. The order and service is fast and their food came really fast. Friendly staff too.

Charlotte Lee (07/03/2017 00:15)
Fresh and reasonably price seafood. Staff and servers there are friendly and helpful too. There is also a indoor with air conditioning if you have oversea guests who need some cooling environment.

Andy Lim (11/02/2017 14:48)
Food is great! Must try their Coffee Pork Ribs, Salted egg prawns and prawn paste. Tastes heavenly

Musho Pea (30/01/2017 12:36)
Best salted egg crab. Order it with steam buns to soak up the sauce 🦀.

Love the moon hor fun too - Best dry hor fun in Singapore.

The coffee pork ribs are also the best coffee pork ribs I've had.. Basically this place is the bomb!!

Jimmy Ng (20/01/2017 12:54)
For decades i had pass by but never stop for a nice dinner here.

Our 1 time delighted us. Good recommendations, Quick service, delicious food & a busy environment with a lively atmosphere.

Will return soon.

S H Lee (16/01/2017 06:57)
Warm service and good food, now that's hard to find these days! Perhaps we were there on a quiet Monday, but the wait staff was friendly and helpful. After the food arrived and we were busy tucking in, she offered to help us take a group photo before the food disappeared into our tummies 😂 Recommend the hor fun and coffee pork ribs.

Jie Wei How (10/01/2017 02:58)
Always never disappoints with the quality of food. As its name imply seafood is really it's forte here. Other local favorites are done really nicely too. Great way to eat well without breaking your bank.

Dongyan Li (08/10/2016 15:40)
Great place for value-for-money crab and steamed fish. We paid around sixty dollars for the claypot bee hoon crab and it tastes awesome! Other cooking methods that are also popular include salted egg and chilli. And a lot of customers orders steamed fish as well. Btw their original dish 明珠卷(Mingzhu Roll) is a must-try!

Jonathan yeo (23/08/2016 03:07)
Went there for my dad's birthday and he was thoroughly satisfied with the food. Its no wonder why they are able to afford such a big coffee shop as well as an air conditioned place.

Price: prices of the food is very reasonable and the portion is also reasonable like any other zi char stores.

Taste and variety: expect a large variety of food and also exclusive dishes created by their chef. Taste is exceptional and every dish included the soup is bursting with flavours. Definitely must go

Shawn Teow (31/07/2016 01:41)
Yue guang hor fun,
Coffee pork ribs,
Chili crab,
Fried rice.

One of my favourite zi char in Singapore.

Gems Gonzalez (12/07/2016 02:40)
They accept credit cards! Our favorites are coffee beef, claypot pork liver, salted egg crab of course with seafood steamed rice. They also have a new vegetable offer, dragon vegetables with Sakura shrimps that is so tasty and freshness goodness. For our drink we had cold Barley which is common in Singapore.

Nicholas Chan (07/07/2016 23:58)
Cheap and good local food (zichar). Good with their specialties and amazing selection!

Benedict Chan (02/07/2016 14:21)
3 Reasons

1. Coffee pork ribs
2. Horfun
3. Chilli 🦀

No exaggeration though it's easy to say crab is good , worth the time and calories for the Sze Char here. Bring your own vino, tip is ask for waiver of corkage, they be happy to

Keezia Bostwick (24/06/2016 10:13)
Great hawker style joint to get chili crab and (even better, in my opinion) pepper crab... Wear dark clothes and being napkins - you are gonna get messy. There's a sink to wash up throughout if you are as messy as me! Order the buns to sop up the yummy sauce. The cereal prawns are delicious too.

Mitsuru MISAWA (31/05/2016 07:35)
You want to choose the seat close to fans. Otherwise you are gonna be really sweaty. The service and taste are good. When I ordered a crab, price per crab was $65.

CELAB 99 (30/04/2016 00:49)
Decent crabs on order here, I'm not a seafood lover but my 6 companions did, and they especially liked the salted egg crab as opposed to the pepper crab which had a bit less flavor than other places in Singapore. The deer with ginger and onions in served in a thicker sauce than I'm used to, but it's still quite tasty. The sweet and sour pork is decent also. Make a reservation if going in a big group on Friday night as the big tables especially inside with air conditioning all book up ahead of time. Prices are reasonable, group of 7 with Two crabs costs about 200 sgd.
