Ticket is cheap 2 Rm for adult and 1 for kids. This is small and simple zoo but with many animals. Nice to visit here.

The zoo is located in the center of the town. It has a very low and affordable entrance fees. I can see it was well maintained and was quite clean. We went there for a charity event, where we were allowed to feed the selected animals. Not sure whether feeding animals are allowed on normal days. Another thing to mention was the staffs working around who were very helpful and friendly. It is a suitable place for kids, adults and also elderly people. The only thing is the zoo is not very big and the tour around can be completed by half day. Since it was located along side of the road, you would need to search for a parking spot. There are tigers, tapirs, elephants, crocodile, camel, Iguana, reptiles, monkeys and also horses. Sometimes there are elephants show would be available, but check the schedule with the zoo staffs. As I think it was not in a fixed time. Apart from this there is a small store located in the zoo which is selling foods and drinks or even snacks. A photo booth is also available where the staff will take you pictures and print it for you for some amount of charges. It would be a good quick weekend getaway in the town.

I love to discover zoo in johor. The place isn't big but so tidy. Enjoy my time here... I can see some animal and getting fun. The price ticket isn't expensive only 2rm

Doge LeShibe (23/04/2018 11:45)
Went there as a joke but man, the place is worth the 2ringgit entrance fee. You could buy kangkong for 2ringgit in the zoo to feed the animals , including the camels which is so damn cool. I went there on a Saturday and there was a chance for me to touch and take pictures with the snake for 5ringgit for 2person, I’m not sure is the price fixed and if it’s always available even on weekdays. Overall a good place to visit even tho it’s a small place, with the ticket price you can’t really go wrong with it.

Mohammad Abdulhadi (22/04/2018 08:08)
Its very nice place to spend 3-4 hours for super low budget plan since the ticket costs only 2 RM! Variety of animals are existing. the Zoo Well organized and staff are friendly. Highly recommend 👍

After 30 + years I revisited our Zoo and looks I need to wait another 30 since only some effort are made to make the zoo current. Only enjoyed the Camel and Deer feeding area, other than that too few animals that are active. Try harder Johor and I'm hope it won't too long for me to return .

My kids love this place so much...this is the oldest zoo in Johor.. though it look small and somewhere in town, but there are lots of animals you can check out here...
There are small stalls so dont worry in case you get hungry or thisty..
Most important the entrance fees is unexpected RM2.00 (adult) and RM 1.00 (children)..amazing isn't..

A pretty simple zoo, without all the bells and whistles you’ll expect from the more established ones in neighboring countries. It’s probably the nostalgic factor that entices visitors to this place — parents who were here in their younger years would probably make a trip to relive those memories with their kids.

Arunabh Das (19/02/2018 16:43)
It's a pretty okay zoo. Despite all the no littering signs, people still litter. The place seems dirty, especially the walls. Maybe a new coat of paint would do. Overall quite cheap and has decent range of animals. 2rm for adult tickets.

zaikhan jayos (02/02/2018 04:57)
Simple zoo. Really cheap to visits. Parking is just in front of entrance. Got variety of animals you wish. Drinks and foods are plenty, inexpensive considering it is sell inside a zoo. Few activities to be involved as horse riding for kids, animal feedings at a very cheap charge. Nice to visit anytime.

Lim CW (26/11/2017 07:56)
It is quite run down. Can see quite a numbers of animals. The ticket is very cheap. For adults it is RM 2, and kids is RM 1.

Huda Dasiano (03/11/2017 10:37)
the place has gotten so much better than the few years back i had been there. they got camels now, n there are some animals like the camel n elephant that we can feed if u go during public holidays or weekend. honestly, the animals look healthier than other zoos ive been

WenHarn Chung (20/10/2017 11:26)
Sad after visiting this place. Facilities are old and not enough staff. Especially seeing trash by visitors, I'm disappointed. Visitors should know better not to litter. It's small but has a good variety of animals. However, I think it badly needs better management for the sake of those poor animals.

Archer Hawk (03/10/2017 04:57)
The Johor Zoo is a good place to kill time and spending it with kids. You can feed some of the animals here.

But there area that are still under construction but the animals are still well fed

Adam Cheah (09/09/2017 13:33)
This is a small zoo created by the second Sultan, Sultan Ibrahim. Once a great hunter. Animals shot but not killed are put into his private zoo. That why this zoo is in the Grand Palace grounds. It was later given to JB authorities to run it by third Sultan, Sultan Ismail. The local council then build huge concrete enclosures to house the lions, tigers and bears. Those big jail like cages with heavy iron bars are original.
Animal rights group never take kindly to this kind of animal display. Now some action has been taken to put the animals in a more humane environment. The front row of cages are replaced by big cages with large glass panels. They have not done the rest yet. Entrance at RM2 adult. RM1 for a child. It will take forever to have enough funds to revamp the place. Not forgetting staff salaries and animal food.
They have made some rentals from food stalls, boat rides, horse rides, play area and photo sessions with python and macaw. They should slowly increase entrance fees to cover expenses.

nice place for family visit.
super cheap (MYR1 kids, MYR2 for adults).
animal feeding, horse riding, etc at low price.

Ian Gazny Yaacob (29/08/2017 14:21)
For an admissions charge that cost less than a can of coke (RM2, S$0.70, US$O.50, ¥50), this zoo, while nowhere near the level of the outstanding Singapore Zoo, exceeds expectations!

The general structure might be old, but it's relatively well-maintained and generally clean. Facilities are ample. Refreshments are fairly priced. The variety of animals is decent considering the whole area is actually quite small. Lions, elephants, tigers, crocodiles, ostriches, bears, snakes... Oh my!

My only problem lies with the few visitors who have no idea how to behave in a civil society, i.e. littering, being obnoxious or having ridiculous expectations... Annoying traits that can be found anywhere else, not just in this zoo.

mermaid princess (10/07/2017 06:48)
The price is very affordable so its suitable for students who'd like to kill time. But when I went there the animals looked so hungry (especially the otter) and the place looked so poorly managed (understandable bc of the cheap price). Better to have some improvement if you want to attract some more people.

Chun Song Lee (09/07/2017 22:23)
With the price tag of RM1.50 one can't argue this is the best place to kill ur time with ur kids. Don't expect treatment and experience like the famous KL zoo or Singapore zoo. But you'll be surprise with what they have in Johor zoo.. Elephant, tiger, lion, park with deer and ostrich wondering around.. Wonder why the state government never invest a bit to bring up its standard. There's a lot of trendy restaurant n cafe near the corner so plan your trip to the zoo in the late morning so u can enjoy ur lunch there.

Tommy Tan (03/07/2017 20:03)
Lots of value for a RM2 priced ticket. Get within a meter from animals like tapir, marmoset, camel, mouse deer and ostrich. Other animals include elephants, lions, tigers, sun bears, mongoose, sambar deer, porcupines, king cobra and pythons. Also a few interesting bird species as well; hornbill, macaw, pheasants, peacocks and pelicans. Quite shady and has lots of benches. A fairly well equipped children's playground as well.

Mohammad Ahmad (26/06/2017 14:31)
The zoo is reasonably managed with variety of animals who are well taken care of. Children will love the elephant, horses and dear section. There is a toy train but hardly used. Good place to bring children for a whole day of edutainment.

Simple Boy (26/06/2017 06:07)
Is v good...Got one monkey is a head spinner but sometimes I dunno if it's mad or doing stunt but non the less it is much better than last time already!!!

Long Teng (30/04/2017 03:28)
very much improve over the years! animal are in great health , can get maany close interact with animals!

jimmy senoko (24/04/2017 22:58)
This zoo is improving, no need for Johorean travel so far to get reach with wildlife.

Saul Ashley (29/03/2017 05:56)
Worst experience ever. A group of locals were destroying the zoo, pulling out signs and hitting the animals. Then when they saw our disgust, they started shouting obscenities to us. When we notified staff they did not care. There was no security. For your safety do not go there.

Kinesh Sharmi (26/03/2017 17:10)
you can feed animals by yourself.. kids will love those things.

PeiShin Lau (20/02/2017 04:05)
Good place for playing pokemon go now. Look good after upgrade

Khairul Ridzwan Ibrahim (12/02/2017 15:23)
Animals are in better shape than the ones in Melaka Zoo, anytime! Nice way to kill 2 hours in JB with the kids.

Immortal Eternal (09/02/2017 06:36)
Best zoo in Malaysia PERIOD. Up-close and personal animal feeding for elephants, camels and many other animals. Touching and photo taking is allowed and free of charge. Entry fee is RM2, animals' foods are charged separately. Parking is the only problem. Bears, tigers and lions are amazing and lively.

Noor Haizal Noor Mohamad (21/11/2016 15:13)
Cheap, animal in good care, facilities a bit old, so cheap, quite small and can cover whole area within 2 hours.

han yoora (17/11/2016 05:00)
Sad very sad. Extremely cheap entrance fee and now I know why....the animals look like they are hungry and it's looks dirty and not taken care off. I have never felt this sadness for the animals in zoo's until today. Within an half an hour I wanted to go home with my toddler who didn't seem to enjoy it as well.....please close this zoo.

zakaria hassan (15/09/2016 01:58)
A place for the whole family to relax in the city. A great place for the kids to watch wild animals in the flesh .

Ch ew (02/09/2016 22:44)
Nice! Very cheap entrance ticket! Some animals are far better than Malacca's Zoo. Elephant are missing?

LYANA HAMSAN (23/08/2016 11:21)
Cheap entrance fee but need to reconstruct to make it convenience for baby stroller or disable people.. means too many stairs. No elephant & ziraffe

Farhana Wahidah (16/08/2016 09:13)
Entrance fee cheap.but the animals tak best.mayb can have some improvement

Grant Hee (13/07/2016 03:56)
Never been a zoo fans anyway. Those animal belongs to nature. If you wish to protect them to prevent extinction you going to be damn well sure they were well-fed and provide them a better environment.

Shadoe Rain (28/06/2016 09:51)
Poorly managed, animal is getting less and less. boring.

Wen Jie Kee (18/06/2016 23:54)
Small zoo. Entrance fee is cheap compared to the ones in singapore

Henry Lim (04/02/2016 14:40)
Small zoo in Johor Bahru area. The entrance fee is really cheap. Almost nothing inside, but you still can spend around 30 - 60 mins there.

Cheok Sze Lee (26/09/2015 03:29)
Not bad... It's a mini zoo that quite comfortable with my family... Not so tiring, keep it up... Kids really enjoyed riding pony

Mariah Rose (23/08/2015 19:42)
I wouldn't even give this a star if I had the choice. Save these animals! Do NOT support this living hell. It's absolutely sick. The animals are in need of rescue, for their conditions are worse than you could ever imagine. There was a lion with weak hind legs who looked extremely sick and he was suffering.. my heart broke. Please Lord someone save the lives of these beautiful creatures. They look so malnourished that you can't even enjoy their beauty. DO NOT GO HERE. These 5 star ratings you see are SO ignorant.. I can't believe it. Sickening.
