The service of Myanmar embassy has improved slightly. However there are many areas that needs to be improved well.
- Getting online appointment: the website maintenance is very poor, could not go through to get the online appointment. Realised that there are many people facing the same problem when I reached to the embassy. The boys at q ticket counter 3 are repeatedly telling the people to do things like; use enter key/ space key etc.. to go through when doing online appointment. Instead they should raise the issue to the officer (I am sure officer are aware as well) and try to maintain the website well. Now people are unnecessarily wasting their time getting online appointment in front of computer and end up paying 30 dollars to get on the spot appointment at embassy.
- The embassy building is not using effectively: with the new extension of the building, there are more counter to serve the people. However, the arrangement is funny and not up to the standard. I was wondering why upstairs of the building is not using to serve for our people? If the staff are staying there, embassy should provide accommodation in other area for the staff. The whole building should renovate and utilize fully for the service.
- The rules for purpose renewal service are not properly stated either in the website or at the embassy eg., dependent passport policy; what are the criteria needed to make dependent passport.

Last time when my passport expired in 2012, it took me about 3 hours of queuing time to get my new machine readable passport. Not the best but still much better than I expected. Now that it's up for renewal again in 2015, I went back to extend my passport. I got queue no. From embassy website 1 week before. My queue no. Was 109. Although it says on the queue printout to come at 8 am, I got to the embassy around 8.30am. The counter 1 and 2 was serving 108 so I was just in time. so I recommend that if your queue no. Is 101 to 108, please go at 8am. It took only 3-5 mins there, just checking documents and pay service fee of 20 sgd. Then, next is to take photo for new passport. There is no more extension system for passports. They will issue a new passport with a new number. They were having a technical issue with the printer so I had to wait for photo , fingerprints for about 20 mins. The actual duration for this is only about 5 mins. Once this is done , I had to wait to be called from another counters -5 or 6. Since the people in front of me with queue no. were not around , I got served after a few minutes only !! :) .. The guy at this counter just took the documents in, asked to see original singapore PR card and previous tax recept (tax paid till dec 2011). And a few minutes later, he just told me to come back at 3 pm for passport collection with 35 dollars fee. So the entire process took less than 45 mins and 55 dollars !! So shocked and impressed pleasantly how quick the process is !!! So happy !! Thanks to the great embassy staff . Even faster than the wait time when I went to ICA for loss of PR card!! Well done and keep up the good work !!! Just FYI, if you forgot to bring copies , you can make copies at the self service copier machine for 40 cents. If you don't have original tax receipt ( lost or left in Myanmar or in Myanmar for other reasons, for example ) please have it print out by the embassy with a fee of 8 dollars rather than paying a fine of 20 dollars. You will need this tax document everytime you go to Myanmar embassy so it's more economical at 8 dollar for new print of the tax receipt. This info is shared by the friendly lady at counter 1 as a more economical option. I agree with her! Currently, my experience at Myanmar embassy is much better than those at American or Thai embassy ! As other reviews, the opportunity for improvement will be to make the passport collection before 12 noon or have the option to come back on the weekend to collect. Currently we have to take 1 full day leave waiting for the processing but the actual time in embassy is now less than 2 hours. So if there's an option to collect on weekend ( pay all the fees in one go than wait till collection to pay 35 dollars for new passport ), it would be much better. But I understand this is not easy to implement. For visa application at other Foreign embassies, they also ask to come back for collection. The other way is to email in the documents in advance and pay fees online so that you just need to go in to collect new passport or have it sent via Singpost. Singaporean passports are applied via mail anyways. The last suggestion I have , may not be for embassy but the immigration system. It would be better if our passport validity is 10 years. 4-5 years is too short for people nowadays who live and work abroad.

I agree with previous commenters about replacing your passports taking whole day. Plus, people who have the earlier queue numbers do not attempt to arrive on time and don't be surprised if you see them casually walking into the office to demand their turns right before you. Overall quite inefficient and waste of an otherwise precious leave day :/
