Emails and queries take a long time to be answered to. Experienced the same cluelessness last year when i applied for a visa. I've since moved to Germany and recently sent another urgent visa related query and it's been so many weeks but still no response -- it's as if they don't respond if they don't know what to do, i can't seem to find information from the offices in Germany either because they just seem to love directing your problem to other people so it's not their business.
For an embassy i would expect more competence from the staff. if this is the way things work in Germany, that's fine. But this is based in Singapore, have some standards. It's as though they just clock in to their job for the hours then go home and care less than nothing about the people who actually need assistance.

Better bring a book due to long waiting times - electronic devices are not allowed in the waiting room. Unfortunately, there are not enough seats in the waiting room as well and no pens.
Bring cash! One counter didn't offer electronic payment. The one that did accepted Visa Or MasterCard but the payment was done by a staff typing your credit card information (including security code) in a computer. This seems unsafe.
Staff was friendly though and they do have a water dispenser.

Understaffed but still in order and friendly

Staff was friendly and English-speaking. They only have 3 people working at a time, so wait times can be long

Understaffed - Have heard firsthand reports of applications not being processed simply because the single staff member is on leave - how can a national embassy let important processes be delayed just because one staff member is on leave?
Inflexible - Service hours for visa services are only 830am-1130am every day, making it incredibly crowded and inconvenient to get anything done
Unreliable - Important documents like blocked account opening forms, though certified by embassy staff, were rejected by Deutsche Bank after a waiting period of 2-3 weeks, leaving a user no means of recourse and having to delay important plans.
Uncontactable - No proper hotline for enquiries, making the entire process subject to misinterpretation. 24-hour hotline does not pick up despite multiple calls. Important emails are not answered.
Overall a terrible experience and a stain on Germany's reputation.

Best German Embassy in Asia. Helpful and friendly staff, competent and supportive.

I went in to apply for my business visa. You need to have an appointment and the security person was expecting me. Within 10 mins, my turn arrived. The staff took just one pic and returned the other. Everything was in order and the staff was nice. Collection of passport in 5 working days. Plz carry cash, preferably with change to avoid delay.

Horrible Service. EXTREMELY INFLEXIBLE.
Severely understaffed yet No Sense of Urgency. They have short working hours. God knows what they are doing (Especially when they close at 11.30hrs on Fridays).
No proper follow-ups on Emails. Approximate waiting time for a Visa is about 6 weeks. Expedition is not even possible regardless how many times you chase them.
I think the best thing is to call the ambassador to get things going...
