Ducati 1198sp (consignment) Review:
1st owner sought help from Ducati Wearnes to sell off his bike. I went to view the bike and asked the salesperson at Ducati Wearnes whether the bike was stock. I was informed that it is STOCK.
Paid in full for the bike in January 2018 with mileage at 21,9xxkm. I was supposed to collect the bike within a week later but was informed that it was not ready.
I had to probe and dig out the reason from the salesperson for the cause of delay. Was informed that coolant was leaking and Ducati Wearnes are going to replace the part.
Point #01: I don’t understand why they did not disclose it to me immediately.
If I remember correctly, I collected the bike early March 2018 and it did not see much of the road. On the 6th April 2018, the bike’s battery exploded while I was riding. Had the battery and rectifier replaced from a friend’s workshop asap.
Any Tom, Dick and Harry can get a battery and rectifier replaced without incurring the labour charges. Not being a cheapskate but simple stuff like this can be done elsewhere.
This is the frustrating part. Battery replaced and suddenly, all the errors start to pop up. Was informed by workshop, who has the Ducati Toolkit, that there is too much horrible history with the bike. Was also informed that one of the error is masked off, which means that the error still persists but the brain of the bike was tricked to ignore it.
And was also informed that the bike is loaded up with RACING ECU. I THOUGHT IT WAS COMPLETELY STOCK!
Went back to Ducati Wearnes to check with them on the issue. I did not inform them of the diagnosis that I have made on my end.
They diagnosed the bike and inform me that there are issues with Throttle Body, DTC Unit and battery charging being too high. Not even a single mention of the Racing ECU.
Point #02: I let the issue slip since Ducati Wearnes completely replace the above issues FOC.
Collected the bike back on 04th May 2018 after the repairs.
On the 11th May 2018, flash fire underneath the fuel tank while waiting for traffic light.
Had it tow back to Ducati Wearnes and was informed that the AFTERMARKET WIRES and STOCK WIRES resulted in circuitry damages. When I texted and call Ducati Wearnes about the AFTERMARKET WIRES, my calls and texts with regards to the matter was completely ignored. Did not even answer my calls.
After countless attempts, they informed me that they ordered the parts from Italy. I enquired, what part was it? They kept quiet. I asked for the lead time, they couldn’t give a timeline. Who orders stuff online without knowing the lead time?
Current mileage is 23,3xxkm. Barely 2,000km in and this was the bike that was sold to a customer by a “reputable” shop. Here I am ranting during fasting month, may God forgive me.
If you want to own a first-hand Ducati, get it from a PI shop.
There are 2 – 3 reputable shops that can do up a Ducati with better integrity..
Yes, they may have repaired the faulty parts FOC. It is on them since they are aware of the issues way beforehand and they still decided to market and sell the bike like it was a ready-to-use bike.
Be your own judge from the story that I just shared.

How to deal with delay, complications and problems at Ducati Wearnes:
1. Shrug your shoulders and say:
-"Oh it's the ITALY SIDE'S problem... "
-"Oh THEY said they don't know."
-"Oh there's nothing we can do because THEY..."
-"Oh it's THEIR fault."
2. Do nothing.
Pathetic level of service. Complete lack of integrity and responsibility. Staff with attitude and questionable workmanship and professionalism. Oh but they apparently do great coffee.

Terrible!
When the news broke that Wearnes was taking over the franchise, some people said it was a good thing because it gave stability and solid backing behind... Nothing farthest from the truth!!
On the couple occasions I have brought my bike there, the service has been slow, unresponsive and obviously - EXPENSIVE.
Today I have been calling to ask what is going on with my bike (been there for a month waiting from a clutch spare part - This is totally unacceptable!) and absolutely no one answers the phone.
What a disgrace of dealership.

I have given my Ducati scrambler for 24k Desmo servicing at the new "wearnes" shop, highliting serious clutch problems (hard to find neutral, changing gears, ...). They told me that "nothing wrong has been found, a query has been sent to Ducati HQ we will let you know..."
After 2 weeks without any news, the bike getting wrost, I went to another workshop (ex Ducati) who told me within 2 min that the clutch must be dead. After replacement, my bike is back to normal and still no news from Ducati...
Terrible technical assistance

I think I spoke too soon. I took my bike into the new store in December and asked how long it would take to make a repair. I was told 1 week and agreed to take my bike in on the 5th January. It is now the 23 Jan and no sign of my bike being returned. On calling Tony he seems to think tag the issue is with the company making the repair! The fact that I am paying Ducati Singapore for a service does not seem to be relevant. I cannot get hold of anyone now and still have no idea when i will get my bike back. Very poor indeed

Not an ideal place to fixed up ur ducati bike or any other bike. The current dealer "Wearnes" does not provide good customer service in particually Tony.
Need to buy 1st hand ducati bike, then you got no choice but to buy from them. Sales team is good though.

If you own a Ducati or looking for a high performance motorcycle, you should come here. Every parts and services are at reasonable prices. The service manager is doing a great job.
I used to owe a Ducati but service at other workshops, just to realise the service price at Ducati Singapore is much lower compared to outside and it comes with parts warranty. I would definitely recommend this place.
