A maze of stalls, historical landmarks and places to eat. Just keep your wits about you for hawkers who try to sell you anything and everything!!!

The Chinese Historical Museum is an excellent 'in depth' look at Chinatown's past.

Went there specially for the claypot rice --cooked from scratch, with salted fish, waxed sausages & chicken chunks-- so yummy. Loved the wide variety of local food & deserts available there too. Must visit for foodies!

Chinatown Complex leaves your senses overwhelmed! There is just too much to take in for the foodie adventurer. In here, you will certainly find no shortage of good food and drink. That includes western food archetypes too.

I haven't had the time to stroll and explore the shops on the first floor. However I note that they close pretty early at around 6 pm.

But once you take the escalator (or stairs) up, you are greeted with rows and rows of (mainly) Chinese fare. Whether you are local or foreigner, would be a sheer waste not to visit this awesome place of gastronomy!

Good place for a Ice Mocha on a hot Saturday afternoon. A place for peaceful relaxation and reflection after a rough week in the office.

Some of the food here has been there for many generations and you can see why. The food is fantastic. The variety in the hawker centre is huge and will take a very long time to try it all. Most have thier favourite and keep coming back. For new visitors here for the first time, just pick the ones with a long queue and you can't go wrong.

Had a delicious glass of fresh, cold sugarcane juice (made in front of you) from the shop just opposite the lift doors.

But not a place for vegetarians as the only shop in the food court serving meatless meals was closed on the day we visited. The owners are friendly though.

Bought a reasonably priced Bamboo Steamer Basket (one more item off the cooking toolkit list) 😃 and some kitchen tools from one of the shops located behind the complex.

Lots of choices here. Traditional yet buzzing during lunch time. Several stalls with long queues such as the famous Michelin Star Chef Chan soya chicken noodle. Recommended to come early to join the queue though. Limited parking available.

Chinatown complex consists of a wet market in the basement, a shopping area on the ground floor and a hawker center on the first floor. The rest of the building are car parking facilities.
The wet market is probably the biggest in Singapore, there, you can get good quality seafood.
The shopping area is mainly selling local stuffs like clothing, shoes etc. There are a couple of shops trading old coins, jade...
The hawker center on the first floor is the most interesting part of Chinatown complex. Food!!!
The best time to visit is Sunday morning, breakfast. Breakfast is when most of the stalls are opened. Most Singapore food is one way or the other represented here. They even have a Michelin Star chicken rice. (soy sauce chicken)

First time during my travels I can say I went to a clean Chinatown!
Singapore you amazed me on this one.

Really like the fact locals are not jumping on you to try to sell things you don't really need.

The fruit, fish and meat market was super interesting.
I really enjoy spending time in Temple Street where you can found a lot of professional and high-end Kitchenware (from pastry to bar tools).

Plenty of hawker food traditional dishes can be found here, if you know where to look.
Here one - old traditional Cantonese desserts.

Jenny Ng (17/11/2017 10:36)
Nice, cheap traditional foods available in the hawker area with many variety stalls and also a wet market below in the basement.

Jerald Cham (15/11/2017 15:22)
Combination of new and old, nice and spacious, with lots of food options. I usually come here for the bubble tea and library

The hawker is on the first floor, a bit dark and damp but the food I had (sesame chicken) was just mind blowing

Eddie Yew (06/07/2017 03:09)
Delicious food at second level with shops at ground floor and can get crowded during festive seasons and peak hours on normal days

Paul Wei Quan Loh (26/06/2017 09:52)
Located behind the Buddha Tooth Temple, this place is very lively. Good food located on the second floor of the complex. Expect huge crowd especially during lunch time.

Chin Ye Leong (17/06/2017 22:50)
Nice wet market, one of the very few in Singapore. Cheap and good food available. Good place to see local culture.

Reina Aserios (07/06/2017 06:24)
It is really a popular tourist spot so it follows the goods on display are not so customer- friendly. You cannot ask for discount at all because every store gives the same prices and every vendor is unanimous in turning your request down. There are souvenirs that are considered sold at low prices but the quality is not first priority.
Still the overall area really shows you what chinese cuisine tastes.
Once you go inside the complex whether located in Singapore or somewhere else, you are in for a treat, displays, food and scenery and the ambience that the Chinese culture is famous for.

ferdinand molijon (06/05/2017 09:50)
The hawker center is in the 2nd floor, it has wide variety of foods to choose from and t is affordable. There are also stalls that serve fresh fruit juices and shakes.

Neil Alvin Nicerio (03/05/2017 14:45)
Pricey food but very tasty. This place also gets very crowded by tourists and locals looking for cheap products. A must visit for cultural adventurers.

Bernie Wong (25/04/2017 15:28)
Nice food. Generous for 5 dollars. Beef is soft and velvety. Stall 02 72. Green zone. Name is lim da Qiang. Got wok hei. Been there quite a few times. They are pretty decent. Will give those neighbourhood zi char stall a run for their money.

Hon Moo Yeong (05/04/2017 01:52)
It's OK the food standard have dropped through the years but still manageable, for most of the old folks have retired or so on. Still the prices is still attractive, keep it up Chinatown.

Keng Leong (08/02/2017 04:01)
Centrally-located with tons of local food you will be spoilt for choice. Almost every hawker stall here serves awesome food.

Terence Tan (17/01/2017 06:04)
Just visited Chinatown Complex after so many years - has no't been here since 2000 - that's like 17 years! The place hasn't changed much though. The shops here are mostly run by the same shop owners over the last 30 years or so.

From now (16 Jan 2017) till 26 Jan 2017, the surrounding area of Chinatown Complex are filled with street vendors selling Lunar Chinese New Year goodies. So if you're in Singapore during this period, pop down.

You'll definitely love the place! 😙

A perfect example of a Chinatown, except cleaner than 99% of Chinatowns across the globe. There's a good mix of hostels and restaurants. The food is very affordable although I do wonder how the quality of these restaurants compare to the more established hawker centers. Very large number of vendors selling touristy things - not as many vendors selling fresh fruit. The real wet market is not in the complex but is in the basement of a building next to this complex. Actually, now that I think about it, this is a very successful separation of the nitty-gritty parts of a typical Chinatown from the more public-friendly spaces. This complex has all the food and touristy things with little of the actual meat, fish, veg sales.

Jaimie Frazer (09/01/2017 17:55)
The food here is great. Lots of authentic Chinese and Malay food, with plenty of vegetarian offerings and authentic local atmosphere. Prices are very inexpensive. Come hungry!

Vince Tse (08/01/2017 23:12)
A must-come if you're visiting Chinatown as a tourist. Plenty of stores and local food to choose from in the hawker centre on the second floor. Lots of authentic cuisine in a legit setting.

Some of the best (and cheapest) food that Singapore has to offer. Look out for Hill Street Fried Kway Teow, Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao, and Smith Street Taps if you're looking for a good beer.

Shinji 000 (12/10/2016 01:54)
Main tenants are Daiso, NTUC and the Chinese library on the top. Although the cafes are always crowded during the weekends. Newer entrant Chateraise, which sells patisseries from japan, actually sells ice cream by the stick which is relatively cheap.

Joel Tan (03/09/2016 07:21)
Very local and exciting market and food centre. Food is extremely good if you know the right stalls. The beehoon and peanut porridge in the morning is the best stall to me.

Ana Woo (02/09/2016 16:19)
Huuuuuge complex with food, farmer's market and lots of clothes/Chinese items. We only had some hawker food while there and it was great! Washrooms will cost you 10 cents here

binit shakya (15/06/2016 11:26)
Many souvenir shops..price vary..cheap to bit expensive..but usually they have 3 items for 10 SGD..right across is buddha tooth relic temple, a must visit..very serene and beautiful temple..

Rick Smith (14/06/2016 05:36)
Have to pick your hawkers here, as with everywhere else. But with enough trial and error you will be fine. This is one of the consistently best hawker centers in Sing. Beware of lines: they might indicate low price, not necessarily high quality. Especially like the import beer vendor which is tucked away in a hidden corner, overlooking Smith Street. Beer and a view!

Nick Bermudez (09/06/2016 11:38)
It is a great place to buy souvenirs or gifts for friends and family. Everything has a really good price and there are some very interesting things to buy

Drew STH (26/04/2016 16:38)
One of Singapore's largest hawker centre located on 2nd floor. Lots of good and cheap food available. Spot stalls with queues to snap a delicious meal.

Veiverne Yuen (25/03/2016 06:04)
The best old school mixed use public housing, commercial and eatery complex in Singapore. The food court here is one of the largest and has an extensive selection of delicious local dishes at bargain basement prices. Don't forget the Good Beer Co and Smith Street Taps which serve amazing craft brews at affordable prices.
