been here many many times whenever we crave for chirashi don. food is always excellent - nice plump pieces of sashimi on sushi rice. filling. you don't need to order anything else.

2 choices available - the more affordable $25++ don or the more premium chirashi kou at $35++.

Had a fantastic Mother's day dinner. The different types of raw fish were so fresh and generous portion. The wagyu beef bowl was simply delicious and satisfying. Yes, this is one Japanese restaurant that my family visits frequently during special occasions.

First time here and honestly the worst experience. Is there an option for - 2 stars?

Appalling service.

Food ordered couldn’t have looked worse (and more different than pictured) when it arrived at the table and the staff couldn’t have cared less when a complaint was made. In fact no apology made.

Beyond this the restaurant had mould all over the ceiling and generally unkept - Plenty of great options in the area sadly this is not one of them.

Good value. Most of the food is delicious but the fish head is a little disappointing.

gawdzilla (18/04/2018 05:29)
average quality but reasonable at the price.

Book restaurant at 8:30pm .. 9pm already we're told to wait and sit at the bar counter... Well, super dirty bar counter, the place to store fresh fish is very dirty... Glass is blur (as if not wipe for many days already) and they prepare food (fresh sashimi) without wearing glove or face mask... Food overpriced... Very disgusting and won't visit again...

Family style Japanese restaurant
Must try their famous chirashi don, filled with thick cuts of sashimi, at a reasonable price.

Used to like coming here but nothing prepared me for the drastic change of standards. Doubt I would ever come back.
Went on a Friday night for dinner after work. Services is lackluster. Food quality has plummeted into oblivion, items don't even look like what there were on the menu. They didn't have a fixed chef preparing the sashimi, the guy who was doing it wasn't in the appropriate attire and doubled as a waiter who was constantly in contact with other customers ,which is kind of worrying if you think about it.
What's worst, they even charge for regular water now...

WORST PLACE TO COME....

We took the 7 course with premium wagyu beef and the fish supposedly are imported by Japan.

They serve you plain water melon cups and consider it as one of the 7 courses. The sushi course consist of only Uni amd ikura (4 pcs in total).

To sum up, not worth for SGD 168...

Service was good and well-informed. Nice atmosphere, while the fish was also very fresh. Good experience overall

Fresh, tasty and value for money. For $60+, this bowl of chirashi is simply over flowing with chucks of fatty tuna, mekajiki, kanpachi, ikura, uni and hotate. I don't usually like kanpachi due to the strong fishy taste but theirs isn't fishy at all! Thick and cold slices of sashimi is going to leave you a little jelat from all the fatty goodness. I wish they serve the chirashi with some pickles and not just pickled ginger. For those who isn't looking at spending so much, the $30 plus chirashi is just as good. Just without the uni and kanpachi but has other just as tasty ingredients like unagi and botan Ebi (I think).

Great service and great food! Very pleasant experience and would love to visit again

Chikuwa Tei makes me fear eating chirashi don anywhere else because I strongly believe the best chirashi don award goes to Chikuwa Tei. Been many times and many more to come.

Jason Kwek (14/10/2017 14:20)
Great value as usual. Almost the freshest cuts of fish you may find in Singapore 😀

Mohit Vatsa (13/09/2017 23:05)
Good Sushi and Japanese food. We have been there times and all experiences were great. Good local restaurant. Service can be improved.

Georgina Pang (21/08/2017 06:39)
$25 for thick cuts of tuna, salmon, swordfish in their Chirashi Don. W generous toppings of caviar! Will be back for more.

For appetizers, try the Age Dashi Tofu and the Volcano Roll.

Bad service. We were there at 6pm and there were a lot of empty seats. The waitress insisted that we took the bar counter seat as she claimed that all the table were fully reserved. We finished our meal at 7pm and most of the "so called" reserved tables were still empty. Why penalize your customers for being early by making them squeeze at the counter seat?

frzd88 (08/08/2017 02:42)
Food was not bad but nothing exceptional, But the service was very bad! Won't go there again.

Odd Einar Aurbakken (13/07/2017 14:06)
Really great sushi. Fresh and good quality fish. Other options also available. Reasonable range of drink selection.

Jessica Yeo (08/07/2017 04:37)
Cuts of fish in chirashi bowl were bad, with the slices still joined together at the ends (see photo). Non-fatty cuts of salmon were given and the tuna also was stringy and hard to chew. Ikura was slightly squashed. Disappointing and not worth $25.

It use to be a good years ago.... but lately, they just don't seem to put in effort in making their dishes. Had a horrendous experience last night with my friends. It will be the last time I ever step into this restaurant. Chirashi Don was horrible, the rice is tasteless, fish was sliced in a very bad manner. If you run out of rice, don't just use normal white rice to act as the rice for chirashi.

Ray D (12/06/2017 14:19)
We went late last year abt 6momths ago for lunch one day and still remember the massive slices of fresh fish in our chirashi order as well as the good service... while i was a sweaty mess coming back from a run the staff were very polite and accomosating... can't wait to go back...

Xi Ning Chin (14/04/2017 12:30)
1 hour wait time for 2 sets of chirashi kou, with other diners that came after us already finishing their chirashi. Didn't help with the servers shouting loudly across the restaurant the whole time. Not a single word of apology (or any word even) when the food came. Ridiculous.

Li Lian Chee (09/04/2017 00:07)
The sashimi is fresh and chunky. Can really feel the taste.

Bharat Rao (18/02/2017 12:41)
Tried the Omakase set for 2. Disappointed with the choice of courses offered. The one just 2 shops away offers a much better spread, albeit for a higher price but at least offers one the choice

Tan Zhi Tong (12/02/2017 14:05)
I really love their chirashi. The other night, my friend and I was introduced to a 8 or 9 course dinner where we would not be able to choose the course. It's a new dining experience for me but it's a little ex. I have been there for more than 5 times since July 2016 and has been introducing friends to this place. Superb chirashi. :)

J Choo (11/02/2017 23:57)
Pretty good food. Decent price. Chirasi bowls are great value.

Dinesh Jaswani (10/02/2017 10:24)
My new favourite sushi restaurant.
Dishes were served fresh. No regrets for my lucky date night. Would be back for more to try the rest. Good selection of choices.

Gilberto Gaeta (21/01/2017 03:27)
This is my favorite sushi place in Singapore. Food is always fresh and top quality. Service is quick and prices are very acceptable. The white tuna sends you to heaven and back, must try. The selection of fatty and semi-fatty tuna is also amazing.

Fandu Rauschenberg (24/08/2016 13:12)
Asked to wear long pants although the place was packed with shorts. I was prepared though so changed in a dirty toilet without even a toilet seat to place my things.
Food is below average and had to ask for extra ginger 4x. Soy sauce was cheap and very salty. Waiters were wearing sport shoes and dressed casual. For what it pretends to be, a massive fail.

Jonathan yeo (09/08/2016 18:18)
Really good Japanese food at affordable prices. their bento set with fresh sashimi is their highlight. The spacing between the tables could be improved though. It is really cramp and I can even hear conversations 2 tables down

孙洁琼 (10/07/2016 10:50)
Tried chirashi don and ten don. Both are satisfying. The sashimi is very fresh and with high quality. Will definitely visit again.

Danny Tan (20/06/2016 12:40)
Great japanese restaurant that serves fresh sashimi. Great value for money too.

Shawn Tay (09/05/2016 14:41)
I really love the friendly staff here. You can customise your order for all salmon rice bowl instead of mix when you request. Amazing.
