A pleasant experience. Quiet & far from the hustle & bustle. Value for money.

This morning visited Bayu Marina resort Johor bahru but the hotel is not functioning. A notification was pasted on the Lobby entrance stating that it is being sued by shareholder and in the process of winding up. Such unfortunate situation as the hotel has spacious rooms and good facilities.

Studio apartment type room. Room are big. But cleanliness not well clean.

Yahya Yaacob (08/01/2018 16:55)
Whilst the location and overal cleanliness is good, the in-room facilities are awful.
Towels and bedsheets are stained and smelly. Have a feeling that the laundry service is hopeless. Could have dump towels, bedsheets and bathroom flloormats all into same washing machine.

Nice big rooms. A bit outdated but clean. Breakfast is average. The furnitures a bit old. The place is very quiet, no activity and lifeless.

Billy Ng (24/10/2017 12:33)
The location is a bit out of the way. Seems a bit quiet too.

Cooling and nice view

Nice place actually, problem with parking entrance and exit everyday. Food less variety, food buffet arrangements also not strategic make the line jammed. Quite and dimm lighting make the interior turn sad.

Corner room facing the river and housing area is the best.

Dear Hotel Viewers
I had a very very bad experience with this Bayu Marina Resort - never experience with other hotel in my life before!!!. So call an international resort but did not clean my room until late night - they only do cleaning when I called them to do so - garbage not collected, towel not changed and bed not made up. I asked the counter and they told me that i have to inform them every morning for cleaning service. Have you heard such a terrible service before in your life by a so call international standard hotel? This is a very sub-standard hotel in term of service and it really makes you crazy. I presume this hotel only treats VIP well but not common customer like me and maybe you otherwise they could have provided a decent service to tidy up my room without me telling them to do so. This hotel needs "common" customer to beg them for a service - only then they responsed. That what happened to me.

I called for the General Manager to explain why the above service and no one bother to come back to me! What kind of hotel is this?????

Very bad service.. We lost 1 handphone while charging in the room as we went out to buy our dinner.. Report to the management but the result we get was dissapointed..the security himself told us this thing ever happen before but have stop.. So i was so shocking as to hear that.. It ever happen and they dont even make improvement for the safety of the guest.. All the place there is a sign park at your own risk.. Swim at your own risk so everything at your own risk... There is no cctv along the corridor there only 1 cctv at the lift lobby there so how to ensure theres no one else going in to our room.. Well if the person come up frm the stairs we woldnt know.. Very bad that our first n our last time book there.. No more going bck there n not recommanded.. If i can give no star i will give 0 star

Request earlier check in for an hour & half for quadruple room = RM194. More than 50% from room rate. No brain indeed. Not yet check in the hotel, I already feel regret. Oh my😏

Echa Belle (03/01/2016 15:41)
It was my first time staying here with my friends and it's quite fucked up. My friend already booked the hotel via online and called them to ask if we could check in early, they said we can check in at 7am, therefore, we make our trip down and when we reached the hotel, the staff told us that the room was still occupied and we can only check-in once the person check-out. Shouldn't they told us earlier when we talked to them through the phone?? So we waited for 2 hours at the lobby until they told us that there's room availability.

After we got up, my friend requested for extra blanket and towels. However, we were told that there's charges for those items (RM20 for blanket and RM5 per towel). And they didn't even told us earlier that the blanket is charge at RM20 PER NIGHT. So we ended up paying RM80 for 2 blankets. What a RIDICULOUS amount for only a blanket?! I've went to better hotels/resorts and they have never been charging us for these items.

It's quite a pleasant stay here but the service didn't quite impress us. Hotel receptionists were unfriendly too. And to be charged for towel as well, it's PATHETICALLY UNREASONABLE.

Pros: Studio suite at very affordable price. Clean and very spacious. About 600-700sqft space with kitchen cabinet, microwave (oven?), dining table with 4 seats. Sofa facing TV. Balcony facing swimming pool (for waterfront view). Complete ammenities. King size bed or twin sharing available. 2 access card provided, 1 for you to leave in the room, so that you could still power your devices after a long day.

Cons: City view's rooms have damped smelly shower curtain. Waterfront view cost a bit more, both types of room don't have fantastic view day or night (unless there was pool party, in the case of waterfront view).

Other worth noting:
-power socket below table, have to untie the power cord for your notebook computer.
-did not try microwave oven.
-room is chilly throughout despite turning off the wall a/c unit (facing bed).
-other suites with multiple rooms available, suitable for family.
-selection of dim sum is being served for breakfast. First time having such breakfast from hotel.

Review based on studio suite facing waterfront and city.

I tried to 3-room suite. Despite the savings per head, the overall size of the suite was considered small. The smallest room was quite cramped inside. So you might be better off having separate studio suite unit with more space and freedom. Not to mention you don't have to share the TV with your friends.

On the plus side:
Plenty of space, and a somewhat quiet neighbourhood. The staff is friendly.

But:
It's never clean. It's not dirty, per se, but even when they clean, they mostly clean the floor, air the sheets, and replace the towels - even though you haven't asked you to replace them.

It's also somewhat out of the way of the city, which makes you somewhat dependent on taxis, and they're not always happy to drive you out there during rush hour.

And the English skills of the staff is poor at best. Rudimentary questions, ordering dinner, and asking for a taxi isn't hard - but they often don't understand more complicated questions, and it's mostly no use asking them for touristy stuff - they didn't seem to know much about anything other than the basics.
