This is the mind blowing place that got me started on watching my Indian food video and Eating Indian food..

Their biryani is very fragrant that you can eat it on it’s own.

Had a nice cozy dinner at location not the first time. Staff are prompt and approachable. Good place to bring anyone especially who wants nice Indian cuisine with a decent ambience. Tried both their butter chicken and fish tikka. Price is reasonable even with company.

The home of Fish Head Curry. The staff are very attentive. The food has very good flavors. There are some spicy dishes but try the butter chicken and the califlower side dish.

When it comes to Indian banana leaf, Apollo is probably the most famous in little India. It’s always busy and there’s a healthy mix of locals and tourists. The service is friendly and pretty efficient and you really won’t be disappointed with the quality of the food. Although I’ve been here a few times for banana leaf, we tried fish head curry this time with some curried lamb and okra. The fish head curry was piping hot and spicy, the fish sauce a nice balance of sour and spicy. The curried lamb was also rich and flavourful, although the spices were overpowering the lamb a little. The okra was nice and fresh and not too overly sticky as it can get if not cooked properly. We also had a garlic naan, which was a little soft and not as warm and fluffy as it could have been. The meal was good without being great. There are better fish head curry restaurants out there and the price was a little over one hundred dollars, after the addition of a few beers. It’s a little more expensive than we would have thought value for money, but overall it was a lovely meal and you really can’t go wrong if you want ‘the’ authentic banana leaf experience.

Very very expensive and the food is not up to standards and the most number of customer patronize there are not Indians because other races are new to Indian foods.

Not worth going there and spent money... might as well try other restaurants with decent prices, service and so on.

As a 1st timer eating here i would say it is tasty and has a good fish head curry. Much better than the one's I just had yesterday. Good biryani to go with the curry. They have the old standard where the server comes and serve you with the rice from a rice bowl and the 2 vegetable condiments served seperately from a server coming to your table. Great place to come again when I get the fish curry cravings again

The food is becoming increasingly standard and tasteless.the cost is high too. The food is overcooked and not fresh and tasty.and there is so much wasted. The fish head curry is a waste ...it tastes bitter and the curry is not fresh. Too popular and only tourists go there thinking that the locals go there and then enjoy the food but actually you can find only many tourists and visitors. I would not go there again if I want to enjoy a meal by myself. Even the simple yogurt which be provided was a bit sour and when my friend wanted to celebrate his birthday with the cake they didn't have any 🍰 we had to make do with some tropical fruits. The service was very good the staff is very friendly and they provided whatever we wanted but I found your overall experience a little bit expensive and not really worth it.

Just returned from my first visit to this restaurant. It was very busy with both Asian and foreign diners which is always a good sign. Generally the food and service were fine but very disappointingly my Chicken Tika Marsala tasted of nothing but garlic. Two strong cups of coffee later and all I can still taste is garlic.

Famous for their curry fish head. Been around for years and they are few outlets within Little India. Easy to find. Lots of options on the menu you can choose from. Great food but price is on the higher scale. Can be pretty busy on weekend, go early.

Nakul Gupta (03/11/2017 03:40)
I felt, management have changed Food flavors from the more pungent old local flavors to now flavors which will serve a broader diversity.

Guess am stuck in a bit of nostalgia.

However that said, the food served is still tasty and worth a visit.

We asked a lobby guy at the hotel about the best and most authentic Indian food Singapore has to offer. Without blinking he recommended us Banana Leaf. Did not disappoint. Mouth watering starters and curries with the right heat to them. As close to India it gets without going there.

Pete Crawford (25/09/2017 14:41)
If you're looking for fresh, generous and spicy Indian food ... avoid Banana Leaf Apolo.

Careless, 'dry-as-a-husk' Tandoori. Barely any heat or sauce with the cauliflower vegetarian curry. Other dishes equally bereft of inspiration or imagination.

Are there better choices in Little India? I don't know. But I can caution you against following the masses here.

Eirc Wu (09/09/2017 01:26)
The price is general in Singapore. The food is good. But it's hard to communicate with clerk.

Inezzionne Sohl (07/09/2017 17:56)
Same standard year after year. Love the endless serving of papadam... Chicken Tikka is awesome! Fish head curry is a must too!

Isabelle Niclot (02/09/2017 07:52)
The best indian food in town. Quite affordable. Huge plates. Be careful however to taxes and suppl for rice and vegetables...very clean and quite appreciated by locals...criwdy from 6pm to 9pm

Phillip Harms (19/08/2017 12:26)
Seriously good Indian food. I was lucky to beat the rush because a long line began to form. Now I know why!

Bruce Heath (27/07/2017 14:26)
Very good food, nice friendly staff, quick service and reasonable prices. What more can you ask for. If you enjoy Indian food or want to try something authentic, you can't go wrong here. Started in 1974 and still going strong. Well with a visit.

CW Wong (12/07/2017 07:49)
The masala chicken here is very flavorful, in fact most of their food are very flavorful, has been eating here for a long time. But the food here is getting more & more expensive, probably due to the increase in tourist traffic. Do not order the prawn or crab, too expensive, just not worth it!

Brijesh Bolar (05/07/2017 15:58)
I frequent this place with family and friends and I have got mixed reviews mostly. Some like it some feels it's crowded and noisy
I like the food here but my experience is not consistent. There are times when we had amazing food and there are times when the quality was bad. I'd say try it atleast once if you've not visited this place earlier. The food is not that expensive.

Paul Wright (04/07/2017 02:02)
Good Indian food served on a banana leaf. Recommended Masala Chicken with Samba Popular Fish Head Curry. Very busy during lunch. Moderate priced.

Sarah E. Tinsley (30/05/2017 05:30)
Delicious! I enjoyed the South Indian Vegetarian Set Lunch. It was very tasty and plenty of food. The environment is nice and service is fast! Great stop!

Niranjan Mariaselvamanickam (26/05/2017 03:20)
Excellent food. The place is usually packed. Service provided is good. The quality of food is top notch. I recommend the chicken briyani.

Donald Teo (08/05/2017 01:09)
Food is average, you can get better south indian cuisine at the surrounding restaurants. Try muthu's curry or ghandi's instead.
The prices here are on the high side for the quality of food you're getting and the service is poor.

TW Rider (28/04/2017 14:15)
Only thing you need to order here is the fish head curry. Spectacular.

Rama kumar (28/04/2017 10:23)
Good and traditional food , when you eat food taste like home made food , beverages also good taste lassie and others. Enjoyed food , good service, but prices are expensive a bit.

Hannif Khoo (16/04/2017 02:45)
Food is ok. Price is a bit high for the quality. Service is good. Drinks are nice. Like the lassi and chicken masala.

Viggy Iyer (04/04/2017 10:31)
Great food. Quck and effective service.. The food is very traditional and the fact that you are served in a banana leaf gives a homely feeling. Great place for people who wish to try authentic indian cuisine. Highy recommended. Not too expensive. Everything is reasonably priced.

Waseem Yusaf (06/03/2017 15:44)
Good food; but very busy and not the best service

John Muzi (10/02/2017 13:21)
Moderate price good food but does not look as attractive.

P Lyrehis (08/02/2017 04:45)
The food is undeniably nice. Had enjoyed their fish head curry for years now. And the butter chicken is good too.

But decided to never go back because there are other stores there with equally good food and way better staff.

My bad experience started when they tried to seat me in a cramped table, fully utilizing every last seat. And when the aircon was dripping water right at the middle of the table and we requested for a change of table they tried to said no but after some dispute they agreed with great reluctance. After we were seated at a different place they tried to relocate us again just so they can utilize literally every seat.

I understand it's purely them trying to maximize their ops. But it's ridiculous to relocate ppl so many times. And giving ppl attitude while you're doing that.

So never again.

Mette Bassett (05/02/2017 23:15)
Bland food and the manager had an attitude problem. Not too expensive.

Marco Goltz (20/01/2017 17:28)
All cultures and religions sitting together enjoying authentic Indian food, served on banana leafs. You may eat with your fingers if you want.

Arcturus E (27/10/2016 13:05)
Food is pretty good and affordable. The curry fish head is not as fresh, and was quite fishy. The naan & briyani was nice though. Be prepared to wait if you are coming with a large group of people as the place is quite packed in the evening.

Also be prepared for the noise and smell, which you may or may not like.

Eddie Lo (15/08/2016 12:01)
Very good and what a gem. Though everything is pre-cooked, quality still exceptional. As other has suggested, no need to order the naan, and the daal was too creamy which I am totally fine to skip next time

Richard Nero (14/08/2016 20:35)
Food is amazing and pretty cheap. Service ain't great but food makes up for it

Nathan Campbell (29/07/2016 12:47)
Fish head curry was excellent. It is pretty pricey though but worth the money. Every thing came instantly except for the nan. The nan was average and took ages so I would recommend skipping it. However the rest was great. Spice level was spot on for me and I like relatively spicey curry, though not the burn your mouth stuff.

I don't agree with the other reviewers saying staff are unfriendly. They were to the point, quick and efficient. What else would you expect in little India. If you're expecting friendlier service you should be going to Marina Bay sands and paying for it.

Dan Koh (13/07/2016 15:13)
It's better to patronise the eatery later in the evening - I discovered it the hard way when I dined there relatively early at about 6pm. Some of the food served was cold, though still as flavourful. The tea tarik and halia tasted machine-brewed too.

Namdev Sachathep (05/07/2016 20:20)
Famed for its masala chicken
Historically and presently still very yummy
Try the lime juice and the side dishes
Bring your friends
Affordable

During my recent trip to Singapore I visited this restaurant for their famous fish head curry. Food was good but attitude of the staff was not in a acceptable manner.

Chinwen Ao (28/05/2016 03:24)
had a very friendly waiter serving us, the food were very fragrant. we ordered butter chicken, naan bread, some fried broccoli vegetables, curry squid and mutton! super delicious

Arjun Khara (11/04/2016 05:38)
Excellent food, good prices, fairly decent service if at times too slow. Must try both the North and South Indian cuisine. Famous for fish head curry but also for a few other dishes including Chicken 65, fried fish in banana leaf and curry prawns. Reservations not required but recommended during busy periods or if you're coming with a large group. They offer valet parking which is great since street parking can be an issue during dining hours. Definitely do not give this a miss.

Carlo Bezoari (27/03/2016 22:56)
Tasty food but awful service. Not a single smile the entire visit, a roll of the eyes when we asked for our table to be wiped clean and an aggressive answer saying that we had to pay for tap water because 'Singapore water is expensive'.
